METHODIST RICHARDSON HOSPITAL SYSTEM

BUSH RENNER CAMPUS EXPANSION COMPLETION : 2014 ; COST $78.4 MILLIONS SIZE: 286,000 SF

The existing ED Hospital, completed by Perkins+Will in 2008, was carefully designed to address future expansion. In 2010, Methodist Richardson Medical Center (MRMC) asked Perkins+Will to move forward to planning and designing this expansion. The building and its location on site was a result of interior planning and connection to the existing facilities on campus. The continous “S” form of the floor plan is a response to a planning need of continous floor plans that could expand the Medsurge floors as needed. Levels 3 and 4 are designed to share patient rooms between different departments. The new hospital expansion on the Bush/Renner Campus will accommodate the move of services from MRMC's original hospital on Campbell Road to this new facility. The building architecture is a response to provide a new facade for the hospital towards the highway and also integrate existing materials on various buildings on the campus. The building is also designed for 2 additional levels of vertical expansion. The new 175-bed hospital includes: 7 ORs; 1 Interventional Cath Lab; 2 Endoscopy Rooms; 1 multi-functional treatment room; 8 Imaging Modalities, including MRI and CT; large Pre-Admit/ Outpatient Testing Department; a Heart Center Program; and Women's Center Program, which consists of 10 LDRs and 8 private NICU beds.

NEW TOWER EXPANSION COMPLETION : 2021 ; COST $200 MILLION USD SIZE: 425,000 SF Working through a collaborative, integrated planning and design process, the project team is implementing a Lean Design process to achieve overall goals in efficiency and flexibility, and to meet operational and financial objectives. The project scope includes transformation of two distinct campuses. All existing acute care services will be consolidated from the Memorial campus to the Shoreline campus, and the aging Memorial facility will be demolished. In its place, a 43,000 square foot wellness center and clinic will provide accessible primary care services for the community. The Shoreline campus will undergo a significant expansion, including the addition of a 186-bed tower and a new 38-bed critical care and trauma emergency department. The project also includes the expansion and renovation of several departments within the busy hospital, including observation and med/surg beds, rehabilitation, and administrative/support areas. A new lobby now serves as the front door for all services on the campus. The lobby design also incorporates a church for the community showcasing their history and values. This project is the pilot project to test the RELi checklist which will EXISTING become a national standard. Along with tropical weather, other risks include hazardous material spills, extreme rain events and standing water flooding. The hospital is designed to remain operational during a crisis and to become a command center for the community.

THE LOBBY FORM IS TO PROVIDE AN INVITING FRONT DOOR, MOTOR COURT & PEDESTRIAN ZONE FOR THE ENTIRE CAMPUS.

RADIATION ONCOLOGY CENTER COMPLETION : 2016 ; COST $23.5 MILLION USD SIZE: 73,000 SF This project is designed to meet the increasing demand for cancer treatment in the region. It houses 7 radiation vaults and is the largest oncology and radiation center in the DFW region. Intended to foster wellbeing, enhance comfort and safety in a patient-centric care system the project incorporates several design strategies for daylighting. The design streamlines workflow, adapts to new technology, supports sustainability, and enables treatment accuracy through advancing technologies. Additionally, the layout creates an environment of flexible spaces that accommodate the care teams with fewer walls and more shared spaces, improving productivity while facilitating focus, collaboration, and organized work. The facility is master-planned to support a 30,000 SF horizontal expansion which will allow for as many as 5 additional linear accelerators, associated clinical teams and growth of management and leadership staff. Located on an elevated site offering views north to the UTSW campus, the expressive architecture pays homage to the consistent academic architecture of the existing campus while blending hi-tech, comfort, technology, and warmth, satisfying both academia and patient expectations alike. The user experience is accented with warm interior materials, consistent daylighting and intentional views, and access to exterior gardens for all inhabitants. Patients and staff alike will find solace, collaboration, and comfort seamlessly throughout the entire facility.

RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL CAMPUS COMPLETION : 2018 ; COST $125 MILLION USD SIZE: 251,000 GSF This project consists of several buildings and interior renovations throughout the campus. The campus needed to upgrade older buildings, provide seismic upgrades, and also needed to expand its services. Working closely with the facilities team, a very strategic phased master plan was developed.

Phase 4 : Hositpal Tower @ 251,000 GSF Working with the city of Riverside, a master plan was outlined with pedestrian safety and vehicular friendly guidelines. The new south campus would connect all new buildings and the existing buildings into a singular walkway, enriching the experience for staff and patients. A cohesive and new material palette was established for new buildings which complement various buildings on the campus. The Tower massing celebrates the connection to the campus and becomes the new gateway for the south campus. The Tower also offers viewpoints to the mountains and the city from several locations within the buildings for staff, patients, and visitors as they traverse thru the building.
