PRIVATE CLIENT
E9 PRIVATE RESIDENCE COMPLETION : 2021 ; COST $4.6 MILLION SIZE: 18,000 SF The new bungalow serves as a primary residence for a family of 3. The general concept was to design a under stated luxurious residence which would serve as “ retreat” from hectic buisness schedule and constant international travel. The home is also intended to welcome extended family members when visiting the city during special occasions. Open, calm, and quiet lush evergreen landscape welcomes you when u enter. The driveway guides the visitor to the house, which is tucked into one corner of the property. The entry is elevated with a small canopy guiding the visitor to the main door. The house is designed as per "Vastushastra" which is a traditional system of architecture originating in India. There is an central open to sky courtyard “brahmastan" which harnesses energy, providing daylighting and ventilation to all the spaces that surround it. Due to extreme heat of Ahmedabad, all interior rooms are protected with exterior canopies. The east and west facing rooms have extended canopies creating large outdoor shaded patios. Interior spaces are oriented to exterior landscape gardens and views. The living room and kitchen/dining have access to an intitmate east garden. The office spaces and other entertaining spaces are oriented to a large north garden with an above ground pool in the forefront. The compound also accomodates a guesthouse and an office space tucked into the landscape near a large existing Neem tree. Other support spaces, service areas and servant quarters are located to the west and tucked away from views of the property.

6 | E9 PROJECT SCOPE AND ROLE
My role on this project was to design, manage and execute all design components. This included taking complete responsibility for architectural design, interiors and landscape design, reviewing sample mock ups, material details, resolving on site issues for details, getting design approvals for all finishes from clients, working closely with on site trades to achieve a final finish product. As a team we bridged any gaps left by consultants/ contractors to hold the clients design intent and vision.
The intial design conept had 3 structures on site. During the construction process the client acquired adjacent lots, which gave some new design opportunties. Entry drive from north, new landscape, office/ studio, above ground pool were consequetly added. Intial project scopa and design concept

Deep Sun shading patios protect the glass from direct sunlight. Sun studies were done to ensure the sun does not directly hit the glass through out the year. Additional protection was provided by a double glazing insulated system with high performance glass. All exterior walls are double masony walls with insulation packed in the cavities. The Cavities are vented with small brick vents to ensure hot air trapped in the cavity can escape from the top. Peak Summer measurements Outer glass pane : 33.2 C Inner glass pane : 26.8 C
