ALL NEW QUALITY DESIGNS FOR THE FUTURE
What will be the trend? Editorial At Asiades we are always looking for things which are happening in the world and how this reflects on the interior and the furniture we use. The dining area is now the central social hotspot, where we start with breakfast, work a bit, have a coffee, meet with friends, have a glass of wine and yes, we use it for dining as well. This means dining chairs should become more and more comfortable, tables become bigger each year. Counter height tables and stools, we believe in it. So, what’s with sofas? We see this as the spot where we chill out, watch a movie, go through Pinterest, check Instagram or just do nothing. More than half of the world lives in the city and this means smaller lounge and dining areas. This is what we keep in mind while we are developing the newest pieces of furniture. We hear that modular is out, we believe it is getting bigger and bigger. Our element lounge pieces are top selling at most of our customers! Trends in colors? we can be short, natural and grey tones rule! We see a bit of green and red and for the rest almost no colors, Organic shapes, soft edges, it’s all there in our collection! Meet Renske & Maxime
G et to know our team! Tell us something about your self. R: My name is Renske, 27 years old, and I am working for Asiades for 2 years in the creative team. My job is to plan the shows all around the world and to make sure everything is arranged. I am also responsible for the shop-in-shop concepts, magazines and other creative ideas that need to be worked out. M: Hello, my name is Maxime and I am 19 years old. I work in the creative team and I help Jan – Wout with the development of furniture. In the job I love the most that if we have a new idea or something else; everything is always possible.
What is a dream to do in this job which you hope one day can do? R: I hope one day that Maxime and I can combine our strengths even more and make sure the shows are all about the details. Presenting the furniture and make it look better with the right presentation. Would love to build up shopin-shop concepts all around the world to create the Asiades stores. M: That Renske and I still work together and the furniture can be presented nice and clear on our website. We do more shop in shop concepts and I hope I will do more and more with development of our furniture.
Why choose this Job? R: In my job I really love that every day is different; one day shooting pictures, next day working out the perfect concept and the other day I am building up a booth on the other side of the world. At Asiades I like the working environment and being able to develop myself. M: During my school time I had to do an internship and I choose Asiades .Found out that it was very challenging and always enjoyed going to the office
You both have been building up shows all over the world, what is the most exciting part?
Why work at Asiades? R: In Asiades it’s personal, and I feel appreciated. The company is open-minded and full of opportunities. M: Because almost anything is possible, you can develop yourself further and the work what I may do is super fun!
In 10 years, what you think will be changed in presentation at shows? With the new media ,will it be more or less shows?
R: When you have been working on a show for months, from sketch till putting the furniture in the right place and then there is that moment when it all comes together and looks perfect. M: The most exciting part is when we’re almost ready with all the furniture. Then you see your whole plan which was first only on paper. Everyone is happy when it looks okay, greatteam work which creates a band.
R: The big thing what I learned from Jan-Wout is that everything is possible as long as you really want it. It’s our goal to be always progressive. In my idea buying furniture will be more personalized and more focused on the experience M: We will have more 3D possibilities and more is digital. That a customer can ask I want to see this chair in that color or fabric. And that we can changes the chair in a view seconds in our tablet. I think that everything is more personalized in the future.
Something about both of you, why your strong together?
Tell us 6 things you love and hate, can be anything, not work related.
R: We both have strong personalities and although our opinions may sometimes differ, we always manage to combine our strengths M: When we are talking to each other about the stand or something else we know in one sentence what the other one means. That’s why we can work so hard together. We can always laugh so my workday is more enjoyable with Renske next to me!
R: Hate: white socks, poor breath, when I feel powerlessness, kiwi, underhanded people and irritating noises when I need to concentrate. Love: togetherness, organized, the sea, wine, sunny days and sunsets. M: I love shopping, going out, sports, nights with my friends, gel nails and going out for dinner. I hate Bananas, people hear chewing, someone who is a clod, waiting, sweat and when I don’t know what I have to wear.
What trend do you see as hot in decorating, colors, style? R: At the moment I see a lot of round and organic shapes. Personally, I love the eclipse shapes. Also, you see a lot of modular items so you can put together your own furniture, I like the idea of having a unique item in my home. The colors for 2020 will be inspired by nature I think, lots of gray, nudes and rust brown/red. M: I think you’re going to see more and more shapes by each other, such as rectangular with round shapes.

The Shanghai ex With Furniture China just behind us, you can see here what it takes to create a building in rapid time and give people the best experience in furniture.
This year we wanted to do something completely new. We were used to creating huge stands for Shanghai, but were always focusing on the interior. This year we exterior of the stand completely! Inspired by the architect Antoni Gaudí, best known for his attribution to the Cathedral in Barcelona.

PAST 1868 In the 19th century the first Hulstein started making furniture in the city of Apeldoorn in the Netherlands. Generations later Jan Hulstein was born on the first floor of this furniture workshop. When Jan was a teenager he was eager to learn how to make furniture which his grandfather taught him in the after-school hours.

2019 Jan, 5th generation, still loves to make furniture but the production moved to China where where we produce in state-of-the-art facilities. Kevin, son of Jan, lives now in China where father and son focusses on new development and making sure the production has the finishing touch. Nikki, Jan’s daughter has her company House of Sakk which focus on handmade furniture and home fashion from Indodesia.
