ASIFA HELLAS, the Greek National Animation Association, is proud to present its updated Hellenic Animation Brochure 2023, featuring extensive information about animation production in Greece. All the entries are active in the field of animation production, distribution, promotion and education.

The creative ecosystem presented in the Brochure aims to increase extroversion and leverage project investment in Greek animation through national and international institutions and investment schemes. Furthermore, we aim to introduce the opportunities for new directors and creators from all over the world to produce their work in Greece and distribute it globally.

ASIFA HELLAS annually promotes Greek animation festivals, businesses and educational activities, to international

markets and the public. This goal is achieved annually, while our national brand "Greece Animated" becomes more prominent than ever. The evolution of the Greek animation market is steadily positive and promising, evident by the numerous projects produced annually and the increasing number of Greek animation productions in process.

Success is becoming a synonym to Greek animation and ASIFA HELLAS is a significant source of creativity, synergy and extroversion transforming Greece to a newpole of evolution for animation productions and co-productions worldwide. So, join us and enjoy the ride into the world of Greek Animation.

The National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME) unceasingly supports the Greek creative community of animation, recognizing that the sector can immerge as an important pillar of domestic audiovisual production.

Through the strategic support of ASIFA HELLAS, EKOME aspires to offer a boost to the international outreach of the domestic animation community and promotes the international synergies, showcasing Greek talent on the world stage.

Meanwhile, thanks to our attractive incentives of 40% cash rebate and 30% tax relief, a considerable increase has been recorded for the last 5 years concerning the audiovisual productions implemented in Greece. Τhis bloom creates further favorable conditions for investments in infrastructure and training professionals who are actively involved in the audiovisual industry.

EKOME welcomes the dynamics of Greek animation, pledges to continue working to strengthen and promote it to an international audience and wishes all the success in this year’s participation of the Greek delegation in the Annecy MIFA market.

The Greek Film Center (GFC) has been committed to supporting the film industry and art in Greece for more than 45 years. In recent years, with the advent of digital technology the motion picture has broken new grounds. Greek animation, in particular, has acquired a new dynamic.

These two facts have led the GFC to actively support the development of Greek animation both, in the development and the production of projects, as well as its international networking.

That is why we are particularly happy that through ASIFA HELLAS once again Greek Animation has a strong presence in Annecy International Animated Film Festival & Market. We wish the best for the films, the projects and the animators participating in this event. An event which serves as a window to the global wonderful world of animation.

Lola

Stop Motion • 2D Animation • 7-9’

Director: Kleopatra Korai

Production: Lokey/ Asterisk Films

Synopsis: Lola is 6 years old. The playground gives her joy. She climbs on the swing and guides us into the world of her imagination, with everything she loves to do in her day and night. Reality and fantasy are entangled. In Lola’s world, words have no sound, because Lola communicates through sign language. Her language takes shape, words break apart, creating images and unraveling stories that build a unique world where Lola loses herself. She dives head first into ice cream, dances with dinosaur and plays with her real and imaginary friends alike. She is startled back to the real world of the playground when a kid suggests they move on to the next game together. How different is the world of a deaf child? Probably as different and unique as the child that creates it, any child.

“Lola” is an animated film for children. It has been conceived with the deaf in mind, but it is being created for all audiences, deaf and “listening”. It aims to highlight that different is not foreign and one can only gain by shared experiences. Learning a few “words” in a new language, sign language, is a bonus.
