AMERICA’s ND Greenest city in the north-east Onondaga County has made a connuous investment in environmental friendly pracces over the years. At The Oncenter Convenon Center, Onondaga County installed a green roof system in 2011 on the 60,000+ square foot rooop as part of the Save the Rain iniave. The roof includes a waterproof membrane liner that is covered with a layer of lightweight growing medium, and planted with a mix of sedums (low-growing succulent vegetaon). The new rooop landscape is a self-sustaining system, requiring lile maintenance once established, and relies upon natural processes to retain and evapotranspirate storm water runoff. This was one of the largest green roofs in the Northeast region at the me of installaon. This green roof is also the site of innovave research conducted by Syracuse University Professor Cliff Davidson and his research team. They monitor stormwater capture and temperature variaon within layers of the green roof. See how you can make a difference...every drop counts!
