ESSEX NEWS NEW PLAY AREA AND CAFE FOR FAMILY FAVOURITE VENUE Audley End Miniature Railway is expanding to include an amazing new ‘rail themed’ play area as well as adding an extension to the ever popular cafe. There will also be climbing nets, a toddler zip line and the all time favourite swings and slides available to keep little ones entertained for hours. ESSEX TEEN SUCCESS IN FORTNITE WORLD CUP 15 year old Jaden Ashman, who goes by the gamer name of Wolfiez has come second in the first ever Fortnite World Cup. He shares the £1.8m prize money with his Dutch gaming partner, David “Rojo” Jong. EMILY NORRIS The YouTube star shares her news, vlogging tips and upcoming plans for the future. Plus why she chose to livestream her labour... Emily’s inspirational YouTube channel is about sharing helpful and positive motherhood content. There’s been a lot said of how difficult motherhood can be and so many women have fears and anxieties during pregnancy and beyond. Emily’s hope is to help them with her natural optimism and love of a good hack to make motherhood easier. Emily focuses on the everyday side of motherhood; the bit that others may see as unglamorous or boring. The cleaning, the cooking and the entertaining. She celebrates this side of parenting in polished routine videos, cleaning videos, weaning and breastfeeding videos amongst others. She wants to show that done with pride and love, these moments are what makes our day to day “Mum Lives” even better - whether that be a great routine that leads to happy children or a cleaning hack that makes your home 24 / September 2019 / Aspire
look amazing. It flips the everyday into the aspirational for women embarking on motherhood. Emily aspires to be the go-to channel for pregnant women and new mums - to be that supportive, experienced friend. She aims to keep that relationship going with relevant content and through engaging with all their comments to build a community of women on YouTube who are as passionate about motherhood as she is. We asked Emily a few things about her life and career so far... Q: What made you start vlogging? A: If I’m completely honest I was feeling a bit isolated on maternity leave in 2014 so I started vlogging as a creative hobby. I was at home with a new baby and a toddler and I wanted to make memories for my sons but also share tips with other mothers on YouTube and Instagram.

Q: Vlogging is a tough industry to crack - what challenges have you overcome to get to where you are? A: My channel had slow growth for the first 6 months to a year, but 5 years in now it keeps growing and has 470,000 subscribers and gains 3 million views a month. Being consistent and setting a schedule of when I upload my videos has been important as well as being consistent and engaging with my audience by answering comments and messages as much as I can.

It was all very tasteful and I announced his birth and name live as soon as he was born. Q: What are you most proud of in your blogging and vlogging life? A: I am so proud that I grew my vlog

to a level where I could quit my day job. I started my YouTube channel, as a hobby and I imagined it could be my full-time job. I feel so very lucky to have turned something I love into a career. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of my favourite brands. It has allowed me to work around my kids busy schedules and be there for everything, something that would have never been impossible when I was employed. Q: We love your Positivity Planner! Do you use a planner like this to organise your busy life? A: Yes I definitely do! I made the planner because parents seem to love
my organisational videos and tips. So I wanted to create a tangible planner that they could use in their day to day lives to keep them organised. We had such a good response from it that we are about to launch the 2020 planner. Q: Top tips for any wannabe vloggers? A: I get asked this question a lot. As I said, I started my vlog as a hobby, which for me has been key as I genuinely love YouTube, and I enjoy making content. You need to post regularly (I post videos 3 times a week), and be consistent (I always post at 7pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Make
content that you want to watch, engage with your audience, reply to as many comments as you can. Q: What are your plans for the future? Your brand can only grow and grow which must be amazingly exciting for you. A: I’m so excited for the future. I want to continue to focus on making helpful, positive videos for parents on YouTube and Instagram. LVMH has partnered with Robyn Rihanna Fenty to create a new luxury Maison that will be based in Paris. The new brand, named Fenty, is centered on Rihanna as well as developed by her. It takes shape with her vision in terms of ‘ready to wear’ as well as shoes and accessories. Rihanna has also taken ownership of all commerciality and communication. From the minimalist to the flamboyant, a pairing of metal shades, used throughout any space, will always give that tasteful and timeless elegance that creates depth and balance in any room. The Audi e-tron is the most-advanced Audi yet. Fully electric, 5-door SUV with lane departure warning, Pre-sense Front and Basic, and a rear-view camera as standard. It’s an electric SUV for sport, family and leisure, offering the spaciousness and comfort of one of the brand’s typical fullsize models. With a wheelbase of 2,928 millimetres (9.6 ft), the Audi e-tron has ample space for five occupants along with their bags. The total luggage capacity is 660 litres (23.3 cu ft), equipping the electric SUV for major tours. Powerful performance on any terrain: drive and dynamic handling system, efficiency, performance and quiet tranquility – the Audi e-tron exemplifies the driving experience of a new technological era. Two electric motors drive the SUV powerfully, free of emissions, and almost silently, with a system output of up to 300 kW and 664 Nm (489.7 lb-ft) of torque. The maximum drive torque is available within fractions of a second and provides enormous pulling power. The Audi e-tron completes the standard sprint in an impressive 5.7 seconds. And the top speed is an electronically-limited 200 km/h (124.3 mph). A new quattro generation – electric all-wheel drive – provides for superlative traction and handling on any terrain and in any weather conditions. In most cases, the electric SUV tends to use its rear electric motor to achieve the highest efficiency. If the driver demands more power than it can supply, the electric all-wheel drive redistributes torque as required to the front axle. This also happens predictively even before slip occurs in icy conditions or when cornering fast, or if the car
understeers or oversteers. So safety is, as usual with Audi, a huge priority. The dynamic talents of the Audi e-tron are especially apparent in challenging conditions, such as on snow. A key factor for the sporty character is the low and central position at which the drive components are installed. The battery system is ideally matched to the dimensions of the Audi e-tron and is located between the axles in the form of a flat, broad block beneath the passenger compartment. The centre of gravity is therefore on a level similar to that of a Sedan. Axle load distribution is perfectly balanced at almost 50:50. The special Launch Edition adds even more allure to the already stylish e-tron. 21” alloy wheels, black styling details and full body-coloured bumpers give the car an immediate and dramatic presence. Across the range, many advanced features, such as Matrix LED headlights, come as standard; others include the unique virtual door mirrors, Adaptive Cruise Assist and Comfort remote preconditioning. And for an extra sense of light and spaciousness, there’s a panoramic glass sunroof that displays the skies to all occupants.The air springs adjust individually to the road conditions depending on the speed and the driver’s preferences, varying the ride height by as much as 76 millimeters (3.0 in). Especially on long journeys, a lower ride height improves aerodynamics. Recharging is possible in a number of flexible ways: at home, via a domestic socket or, for a reduced charging time, with a specially fitted wallbox; or on the road, via high-power charging stations. The summer is sadly over, but if like me you have an allotment plot, right now it should be positively brimming with fruit and vegetables. Our allotment has always been a scene of outdoor therapy for my otherwise hectic lifestyle. Initially taken on to show the children where food comes from and how it eventually arrives on our plate, I feel a pang of ‘The Good Life’ every time we don our wellies and trudge towards the open greenery squeaky wheelbarrow and stack of tools at the ready. Our allotment has also made me very conscious of British produce and what we can successfully grow in this country. You can’t appreciate just how difficult vegetable growing can be until you try! My gratitude towards farming has most definitely been elevated through our attempts. But why does eating seasonal British produce matter? Let’s start with the most obvious… seasonal food tastes WAY better than out of season. How awful is a January tomato or a strawberry at Christmas time? The flavour isn’t there because it’s being grown at the wrong time or else it’s had to travel miles to reach your plate. Economically, it makes sense. Buying food in season means it will be cheaper because of the volume available. Also, if the food isn’t being transported a huge distance then naturally the cost will be kept down. Seasonal food contains a huge range of nutrients, minerals and trace elements that our bodies need at that time of year. It’s as if nature knows just what we need to get by at that particular time. Environmentally, it has a huge impact on the carbon footprint of your dinner if it’s had to travel half way around the world in an aeroplane to get here. Many people strongly advocate eating local, seasonal food so you feel a better connection with what you’re eating. That awareness of where it has come from and how easily we so often waste food.
