“Figuring out a way to success” SECRETS OF NUMEROLOGY A complete guide for the layman to know the past, present and future

Numerology is the easiest of the sciences of prediction to learn and the simplest to practise. It is also an aid to the study of character and personality as well as a guide to lead life more successfully, avoiding pitfalls and cashing in on opportunities. Secrets of Numerology, written in a language the ordinary reader can understand, unfolds the Indian system of this occult science, which has been found more accurate than its western counterpart. Based on true life cases, it shows that given the name and the date of birth of a person, the pattern of his whole life can be foretold. The book presents methods by which the reader can make his own numerical chart and analyse his character, know his own past, present and future. Knowing the physical, mental and emotional forces at work in his life, he can mould his future.

O

The book also shows how to know one’s right vocation, lucky numbers and colours. It also suggests which stones to wear for success in love, marriage or business, as well as the technique of changing one’s name to influence one’s circumstances— sometimes even within six months. Often a mere change in the spelling of one’s name is enough to bring about good results.

Preface Interest in discovering the hidden rules of nature and cosmos begins in a certain life time and it comes to surface in black and white at a certain stage of maturity. After a constant persuasion through several incarnations one gets the revelation in different ways and forms. When the third eye is opened one can see his/her previous incarnations in a row and understand the mystical unfoldment of the self. This is how Paul Twitchell, the leader of Eckankar and J. Krishnamurti, the world teacher prepared by Annie Besant and Leadbeater could clearly see their associations with the old master Pythagoras several life times ago. Later they received initiations from other Gurus till they reached the life in which they got the realisation of the truth.

O

Our souls remember all past associations and that is why we love and adore some ancient personalities without explainable reasons. We appreciate their work and further their studies with our own, giving them a new shape. Pythagoras was an all round personality, with a two-fold development—spiritual and numerological. On one side he realised the self as a soul, heard the ‘music of spheres’ and achieved liberation from falsehood. On the other side he saw the Universe connected with numbers and formed the ‘science of numbers’ for the analysis of character, past, present and future. However, in the state of realisation one can see his/her own ‘akashic records’ of the patterns of lives, and for that matter the records of others’ lives too, if and when interested. But the reading of akashic records is always for the purpose of spiritual development. As for the reading connected with worldly matters, one has to resort to the approximate methods of calculation like astrology, palmistry, numerology, tarot cards, shadow reading and so on. By whatever method the reading is made, the results are more or less congruent.

D EM

A particular incarnation is a finite projection of the infinite life of the soul in the higher realms of Cosmos. The soul adopts various lives on earth to learn various lessons till perfection is achieved and then it lives on the higher non-physical planes of existence for higher purposes. On those planes, there is no dependence on physical factors like food, clothes or sex for happiness. However, this is a subject of separate exploration. The whole book has been divided into seven chapters. The first two chapters are concerned with the understanding of ‘Numbers and their Meanings.’ Chapter 3 is given to the analysis of character and finding the degree of fame or infamy in a person. Chapter 4 teaches how to make the numerical chart and how to read the past, present and future. Chapter 5 gives the meanings of Event Numbers, and the letters behind them. It contains an exclusive table of month by month happenings which gives direction to the reader if consulted in the beginning of every month. Chapter 6 deals with the subjects related to love and marriage as well as partnership in business. Two persons planning to marry or to go into a business partnership can know about their mutual compatibility and decide whether they should or should not form the relationship. Chapter 7 deals with the different form of Numerology prevalent in China and Eastern Countries specifically the concept of Lo-Shu Grid. Lo-Shu grid is an important phenomena and if used wisely is quite useful and gives clear understanding of the future trend, weaknesses and the remedial measures to be taken to overcome the weaknesses. Chapter 8 is concerned with another important phenomena in Numerology called Kabala Numerology prevalent amongst the Hebrews and others since ancient time. It also gives important clues in predicting the future and the Health Traits. Chapter 9 is concerned with miscellaneous issues important in determining career, profession and our wellbeing etc.One can know about one’s vocation, lucky numbers, health etc. Colours are directly related to the numbers and one can know about one’s lucky colours and stones for succeess in a particular field. One can find out which number of the house, car etc., is going to meet one’s interests successfully and which number can prove disastrous. By a suitable change of one’s name, events can be considerably affected. The major frames of events are fixed according to destiny. However, with a proper choice of time and number in a particular venture the positive aspects can be enhanced and the negative aspects can be reduced. We have seen this happen in many cases. Moreover, if the Event Number is incompatible you can avoid heavy investments while if it is harmonious you can increase the investments. So, you know in advance how to live with the number with minimum resistance. Certainly Numerology is the easiest of the sciences of its kind.

During the past fifteen years We must have done thousands of cases. Out of those, eighty cases have been picked up for illustration of the fact that the destiny is fixed in its major frame and things happen without our control over them. However, necessary, though few illustrations with far greater details have been chosen for this book. Permission has been taken from the individuals who have been quoted here. It is suggested that the readers should verify the fact presented by their own calculations and write to us for the improvement of this science. All kinds of suggestions are very much welcome with thanks. We will also be grateful for any mistakes pointed out herein.

Chapter 1 The Science of Numbers

D EM

O

Introduction The history of a person’s life is written in his name and his date of birth. A name given spontaneously at the time of birth, without making any calculations, comes from nature or from the universal mind, if one likes to put it that way. Such a name contains in itself the complete character of the person, his hobbies, his interests in life, vocation and complete destiny from birth till death. There are a class of people who do not like to believe in predestination and they advocate ‘free will’. But a large number of cases in true life which are going to be presented later are likely to compel the reader to think that perhaps there is a predestination and each one of us is merely a puppet in the hands of some ‘Universal Intelligence’. These cases are but a few of the thousands we studied as a consultant in Zimbabwe (1986-1988), Nigeria (1981-1986), India (1965-1972 and 1978-1981), Iraq (1976-1978), England (1972-1974), besides various periods of short stays in the United States of America, Tanzania and Kenya. A human being in a particular life time called the incarnation is only a finite projection of his infinite self in the cosmos. He comes to learn a particular lesson. When all the lessons are learnt and perfection is achieved there is no further rebirth and he lives as an ‘eternal being’ on some higher plane of the cosmos. This subject is beyond the scope of this book and it will be dealt with separately. In this volume we will endeavour to convey to our readers from our practical experiences in life how to make the best use of opportunities that come our way. There is a time to sow the seed and a time to reap the harvest. If we know the ‘frame of event’ we are passing through in a particular year, we can know what is likely to happen to us in that year. This can avoid frustration on the one hand and give clues for success on the other. Nature and its designs can be understood in various ways. Thus, Astrology works on the motion of planets and signs of zodiac, Palmistry on the lines and mounts on the palm and similarly Numerology on the numbers and alphabets. There are many other ways to know the secrets of nature. Amongst all of them Numerology is the easiest and the simplest and it can be easily mastered by anybody. Anyone with proper education can make his or her own Numerical Chart or Numeroscope and understand one’s own nature in detail and know in advance what life holds for him or her. Although the ‘frames of events’ are fixed, a correct choice of suitable date, lucky number and colour etc., can minimise the bad effects and maximize the good ones. One can know when to expect a promotion and when to expect a charge sheet or a demotion. Origin and Preliminaries of Numerology Pythagoras is famous for his theorem in Geometry that the sum of the squares on two perpendicular sides of a right angled triangle is equal to the square on the third side called hypotenuse. The world knows him only as a Mathematician while the other and more important side of his nature and life is not generally known. Like Jesus his birth was prophecied to his mother Parthenis that she will give birth to a son who will outshine others in beauty, wisdom and who would spread spiritual light to mankind. He

was bom around 590 B.C. at Sidon in Phoenicia. He was a tall, handsome and dynamic man with a magnetic and charming personality. He was loved by everyone and he won several prizes and awards in games and athletics. He took initiation from religious adepts several times and achieved perfection in the path himself. After getting enlightenment and wisdom he established a society for religious/philosophical pursuits. The society was later known as the Pythagorean School where he imparted knowledge to his disciples on the path of God. Since most of his teachings were only from mouth to ear they are now lost with the time. He grew stronger as each year of his life passed. He married one of his disciples at the age of sixty-four and seven children were born out of the wedlock. He was reported to be still in the prime of his youth when he was assassinated around hundred years of age.

Pythogoras and his students believed in the transmigration of souls. He saw his ninety-nine thousand incarnations in a row. He and his students although not abstaining from meat-eating completely, were essentially vegetarian in their diets. While initiating his students he used to give a secret formula which was known to only two of them. Pythagoras advocated that each planet had a peculiar sound of its own. But the resultant sound from all planets in the Universe is a peculiar ‘vibration’ which is an ‘unstruck sound’. This sound was called a ‘harmonious cosmic octave’ or the ‘music of the spheres’ which is heard during successful states of meditation through inner ears. This sound once generated in the body of a person leads him or her to liberation. The same sound is referred to by Christ in the Bible as the ‘Word’ or ‘Logos’ and by Hindu Scriptures as ‘Anahat Shabd’ or ‘Aum’. Muslims called it ‘Kalma-i-Ilahi’. This sound is the goal of meditation in all religions and it is the one which is responsible for breaking the cycle of death and rebirth. According to him every sound has a peculiar number and this discovery could lead to uncover the mysteries of the Universe. He and his followers commonly used the symbol which meant that one could choose either the right path of Divine Wisdom or the left path of Worldly Wisdom. Some of his invaluable teachings were captured by Plato before they were destroyed in Crotona. Iamblichus gathered his verses and Thomas Taylor translated them from the Greek. The most important of his saying is the following:‘Declining from the public ways, walk in infrequented paths’— meaning thereby that the persons desirous of knowledge and wisdom should seek it in solitude. Pythagoras believed that at the exact moment of an individual’s birth the Universe has a peculiar ‘vibration’ which effects his character and destiny in life. He assigned a particular number to each alphabet in the natural way and gave its salient features alongside. The meanings attached to the numbers have been modified through research by a series of workers to-date, including our own studies in the last two decades. For introduction we have the following:A.J.S, -1 Courage, Initiative, Leadership, Attainment B,K,T - 2 - Peace, Partnerships, Diplomacy, Spirituality. C,L,U - 3 - Imagination, Expression, Joy of Living, Creativity. D,M,V - 4 - Construction, Order, Service, Limitation. E,N,W - 5 - Sexuality, Constructive Freedom, Progress, Knowledge. F.O.X - 6 - Artist, Balance, Responsibility, Love of Home. G.P.Y - 7 - Analysis, Understanding, Science, Meditation, Love of Solitude. H.Q.Z - 8 - Judgement, Material Satisfaction, Power, Organisation.

O

I,R - 9 - Forgiveness, Selflessness, Perfection, Philanthropic and Divine Standards. According to the ‘vibration’ at the time of birth a name comes to the individual spontaneously, without any calculation, suggested by a relative, priest or friend. This name coupled with the date of birth contains in it the complete character and destiny of the individual. Being born at a particular time is not merely by chance, but in order to learn certain lessons and perform certain tasks. The significance of numbers is much in accordance with the Findings of the great philosopher Henry Cornelius Agrippa of Netterheim in the sixteenth century. Next in line is the popular numerologist and faith healer of the eighteenth century-Giuseppe Balsamo Cagliostro who furthered the work of Agrippa and Pythagoras. He predicted the death with circumstances of King Louis XV of France and his Queen Marie Antoinette through Numerology. The early twentieth century saw two famous people on the scene— Aleister Crowley who was famous for his sexual magic and Count Louis Hamon alias Cheiro, who was famous for palmistry. Later in the century Mrs. L. Dow Balliet and Dr. Julia Seton of US were responsible for popularising Numerology. Dr. Juno Jordan of California after about twenty-five years of professional service published her work as Romance in Your Name in 1964. Very recently an exhaustive treatise on Numerology has been published by Mathew Oliver Goodwin also of California in 1981. Other notable publications are —Your Days are Numbered by Florence Campbell in 1931, The Secrets of Numbers by Johnson and Wonmack in 1973 and the Numerology Workbook by Julia Line in 1985. The main object of this book is to enable the reader to make his own Numerological Chart and study his character, past, present and future in an easy way. Emphasis has been laid on the ‘present’ you are passing through as guided by the numbers 1 to 9 and alphabets A to Z. A synchronisation of the numbers and letters will tell you in very clear terms what the future holds for you year-wise and even month-wise. A variety of cases based on our research and years of professional advice will make the reader understand the ‘frames of events’ that govern the life from beginning to end. Meanings of Numbers As pointed out earlier the name of a person is his autobiography of life and events — past, present and future. Every number carries behind it the occult or spiritual forces embodied in it from ancient times. Each number has in it a peculiar electro-magnetic power with which the character and events of life are subtly and decisively influenced. Having gained the numerological insight you can know how and why you or somebody behaved or is likely to behave at a certain time. According to Pythagoras both quality and quantity are represented by the numbers 1 to 9. Each number has a positive effect with which the individual is endowed. There is a negative effect of numbers which prevails specially at the time of conflict between two or more numbers and the clash can be straightened out with proper understanding. There are four categories into which the meanings have been divided: Positive Effect : Personality, the positive side of the nature. Opportunities and Vocation : Openings for personal career and fields of business activities. Negative Effect : The other side of the nature at the time of conflict. Personal Side : Behaviour and outcome in human relationships. NUMBER 1

O

Positive Effect: Courage, initiative, originality, individuality, creative and inventive ideas, leadership executive ability, will, determination, independence, masculinity, force of action, attainment. Opportunities and Vocation: Number one’s are the original thinkers and live on the mental plane — not interested in physical labour. With leadership qualities they attain power and position in whatever enterprise they work. They are quick in decisions and action and people look up to them for guidance. They are starters and are ready to jump into any situation at any time. Nature provides them with such situations and opportunities where they can show their individuality and achieve rewards. Engineers, architects, designers, planners, presidents of societies, writers and composers of books, music etc; teachers and religionists of original though fixed ideas; keepers of museums, libraries, departmental stores etc., with their own way or organisation must be the number ones. They are successful in any kind of job which needs leadership. They do not like to work as a subordinate to anyone. Nevertheless, they give proof of their originality in whatever situation they are placed. Negative Effect: They prefer to handle things in their own way, rarely turning for help to others even when faced with problems. Their obstinacy does not let them deviate even if heading for disaster. Their aggressiveness, boastfulness, dominance and egotism makes them unpopular amongst their co-workers or relatives and many a time they find themselves out of place. They think that they know everything and their impulsiveness often takes them to wrong ends. Their selfcentredness can break ties with colleagues. At times with over-confidence they are not willing to listen to others and thus they invite new problems. Personal Side: One is a good companion, having a good sense of wit and humour, he is pleasant and good natured. He expresses feelings with dignity and is attracted to the opposite sex only for good personality and goodlooks with self-confidence. He does not like a dull companion or a demanding person, either in business or marriage. He does not like his pride or self-respect to be hurt and can react with hurtful opinion or criticism if offended. He needs love and affection from his mate who should be warm, patient, and have a good standing and strong character. He does not like carelessness, indifference or vulgarity, which can lead to problems in marriage. Generally looking for new things his mate should always have a newness in one form or another for a stable relationship. NUMBER 2 Positive Effect: Peace, co-operation, association, partnership, diplomacy, arbitration, agreement, adaptability, modesty, friendliness, graciousness, meditation, spiritual influence. Opportunities and Vocation: Two’s are not the leaders but excellent followers and harmonisers. Gifted with ability to collect details, persuade and bring unity, they also have a fine sense of timing and rhythm. They are appreciators of beauty and art and have an inclination towards the occult and spiritual. Being given a start by number one they are at their best in completing details and bringing a good finish to whatever task they are put to. Never fighting, always submissive, they are liked by their colleagues. They are successful in almost any profession except where leadership is the major requirement.

Fields of electronics like radio and television, medicine, pharmacy and laboratory technicians; teaching, banking, music, art and designing, museums and any kind of educational institutions are open for the number Two’s. They are very successful where service is important, for example, consultancy, nursing, bookeeping, secretaryship, hosts or hostesses, etc. Organisations where different people are brought together for training or caretaking of any kind, the Two is very successful. In any kind of broken atomsphere a Two can bring beauty, harmony, peace and comfort to the sufferers through his healing power, gentle nature and desire for unity. Negative Effect: Being over-sensitive they are easily hurt because of their delicate ego. They are shy, timid, effeminate and unhappiness or aloneness takes a hold of them easily. They may pay too much attention to details like an extremist resulting in the loss of time rather than quick accomplishment. They depend on assurance and encouragement for their progress in work without which they can become negative. Personal Side: Oozing with a desire to love, co-operate and give they are like a universal mother in whose company a colleague or a relative always finds soothing or a sort of healing. They are devoted parents, affectionate partners and are normally successful in matters of love and marriage. They are liked by people and have many acquintances or companions in general. Nevertheless, they have their share of loss and disappointment because of being deceived by others or being taken advantage of by them. They can be easily hurt or carried away and create confusion and discord. They need a harmonious atmosphere for growth and love and marriage is important to them. They are very popular in social and romantic fields and they can become negative if left alone. NUMBER 3

Positive Effect: Artistic and Creative talents, imagination, inspiration, gift of words, versatility, optimism, love of pleasure, good luck, happiness, brilliancy, prophecy, cheerfulness and merriment Opportunities and Vocation: The luckiest of all numbers, the chosen ones to receive the gifts of heaven on earth itself. Ever-flowing with energy and confidence and gifted with talent and imagination they make, their way successfully in whatever profession or line of work they are in. They are ambitious and generally they get the better of others through their talents. Three represents the trinity in everything— beginning, middle, end. Complete in itself it attracts success, money and travel. They want the best that life has to offer and sooner or later they always get it. They are a source of inspiration to others. Not being a labourer but a creator on the mental plane, they are successful in any profession from music, art, writing and designing to the butcher shop or a military camp. Although no profession can be singled out for them, they are mainly successful in works dealing with art and beauty. Because of the gift of words they make their mark as a teacher, commentator or a salesman. Business dealing with creative fashions or toys, travelling or commercial art are fields of their interest. Having prophetic tendencies they sense things in advance, before they actually happen. They can be successful occultists and can achieve great heights in spiritual and philosophical endeavours of life. They dare to go where no one can go and can bring to light things never known.

Negative Effect: Number Threes are easy going and moody. Scattered forces and extravagance can lead to loss and disappointment after losing an opportunity. Loose talks, exaggeration and self-centredness can make them unpopular. They are unforgiving and critical if somebody takes undue advantage of them. Personal Side: Love and popularity are the important features of Threes. They are warm-hearted, witty and joy-givers. Anybody in their company feels happy and finds life worth living. They are an asset to the world. Nevertheless, they require love and admiration particularly from the opposite sex for their own growth. Being extravagant in matters of love, Threes may have several affairs and experiences which keep them stirred up and bring out the best in them. In marriage they can prove to be loyal, deeply loving and even sacrificing for the sake of love. Generally they are lucky and successful in life, getting the best the world has to offer. They have many acquaintances, friends and relations. They eat and dress well and are good hosts or hostesses, being generous and entertaining. If hurt they can be reticent and unforgiving. Not satisfied with being restrained they like to do things on a large scale.

NUMBER 4

Positive Effect: Constructive, systematic, orderly, practical, down-to-earth, steady, calm, efficient, builder, serious, scientific, application, responsible, industrious, honest, faithful, determined. Opportunities and Vocation: Fours are not the initiator, but when the outlines have been framed and plans are decided, they carry out their work seriously in any field. Maintaining high standards of honesty and concentration they lay the foundation and bring about the accomplishment. They are not happy if there is no work to do. They hate idleness. Their modus operandi is arrangement, construction and maintenance. Any work entrusted to them is likely to be finished in time. Through their tenacity and love of remaining busy they reach the height of their undertakings and attain the position of head. They are not selfish and are called upon many times by others to take the responsibility and to help. Engineers, designers, manufacturers, scientists, farmers, legal practitioners, professors, educators or businessman — engaged in result-oriented constructive work are the number Four. For that matter they are also found as the keepers of stores, offices or other establishments wherever order and construction is required. Being natural builders or mechanics in any walk of life they may start in a small way but end up being big and well established. Negative effect: Fours lack imagination and because of having fixed ideas and being very streamlined they may appear stubborn and unworkable to others. Argumentative, extreme seriousness and dominance are the negative aspects which can make them slow and unprogressive. They may work too hard with no spare time for leisure activities which may affect their health and personal life. Personal Side: Fours are sincere, helpful and straightforward persons. They love family life and are devoted to their partners. They like people and their company and because of their dependability they are quite popular. They have fixed principles and a sort of tailored life pattern. They look for security both in business and family life. They do not like sudden changes and orders without being consulted. Being slow and very systematic they cannot cope with

quickness and speed and this brings them their share of bad luck. Yet going slow but steady, they make a good foundation financially, again from a security point of view. The fours have their share of misfortune by way of shouldering many responsibilities from family and relatives. They like to help others and this fact is taken advantage of by people. They are seen solving many domestic problems in their lifetime and carrying the load of others on their shoulders. NUMBER 5

Positive Effect: Energy, versatility, resourcefulness, action, love of freedom and change, entertainment and amusement, sexuality, quickness in thinking, cleverness, administration. Opportunities and Vocation: Although Fives are not the initators yet the quickness of mind and the capability to do anything makes them successful and they are normally seen living very well. They love to do any kind of job which is new and untried or which is dealing with people in general. They know how to deal with people and get things done. They do not like interference and require freedom in whatever they think and do. They have love for pleasure and, wine and women are normally their companions. Through their resourcefulness and versatility they can put life into any understanding and stimulate it to produce best results. They are very successful in any work or business dealing with public interests, for example a ‘public relations officer’, a sales executive, an industrialist working for the progress and growth of many involved, a manager for transportation and tourism etc., an organiser of games and sports or any line of entertainment for the public, a legal practitioner respecting the law and government, or on any line of civics dealing with the public from the lowest rank of a clerk to the highest position of a judge in court. Fives are seen successful in the fields of acting also, showing their versatility on the stage or the screen. They make their names as ‘news paper reporters’ and administrators interested in keeping things moving rather than as executives. Interested in making quick money they are seen gambling at times. Fives are also seen taking interest in the occult, religion and psychology for grasping and spreading the variety of ideas being their philosophies. Negative Effect: Having many irons in the fire Fives lack concentration and end up with being ‘jack of all trades’ and master of none, if not careful. Restlessness, nervousness and discontentment do not allow the Fives to achieve perfection. Love of change and variety and lustfulness wastes much of their time on the one hand and prove disloyal in love and marriage on the other hand, if the Fives do not keep a check on their mood and impulsiveness. Being sarcastic and critical they can become unpopular and lose faith in others. Personal Side: Being restless and freedom loving they have many experiences, both good and bad. They are unconventional in everything as such, they can throw light on many things unseen so far and can also have to face problems at times. Being versatile and outgoing they always colour the atmosphere with gaity and charm and it is always stimulating to work with the Fives. In love and marriage they do not like dullness and binding of any kind. They are deeply interested in love and sex but are not the domestic type and cannot sacrifice their freedom ever. This point should be taken note of by any one going to marry a Five. One has to be adjusting and non-restricting to be living with a Five.

Fives are found to live in extremes. With a proper training they can achieve great heights in many fields and are seen to be very honourable and successful. Without training they can invite law against themselves and enter quarrels and meet with accidents. I have personally known many murderers belonging to this category. Fives do not always recognise the help they have received from others, and this is unfair. They should learn to respect and share with others. NUMBER 6

Positive Effect: Artistic, creative, responsible, humanitarian service, loyal, dependable, unselfish, harmonious, balanced, just, righteous, love of home, domestic, generous, welfare of others, fixed views. Opportunities and Vocation: Sixes are the perfect number having embodiment of the virtues of their divisors 1, 2 and 3 since 1+2+3=6. They have the initiative of 1, cooperation of 2 and creativity of 3. They have been blessed with the divine inheritance of the seeds of all life. Store-house of energy, responsibility and love they provide care, comfort and happiness to everyone who comes in close contact with them. With all the intelligence and capability, they are all out to serve others with an attitude of personal sacrifice. Wherever they live there is harmony and love. They love to take others responsibility and carry them out to the point of exhaustion. Motivated with a high sense of duty they are capable of taking on responsibility and follow it throughout their life, as a rule of nature. Like a cosmic mother Sixes provide entertainment, healing and all good things of life to others as well as for themselves. As a devotion to God, they represent unity of soul and body. Although physically strong and capable of hard labour, Sixes are not labourers. Because of their intelligence and creativity they are normally found in the positions of authority. Teachers, philosophers, educators, religionists, scientists, ministers, instructors and writers on the lines of emotional and spiritual longings of the soul are the Sixes. Because they love to help others they find business opportunities easily. They are successful in producing and marketing goods of beauty and luxury, and managing restaurants, clubs and luxury apartments because of their liking for food and abundance of things. Sixes are seen doing very well, in the fields of irrigation, mining, horticulture, zoology, shipping etc., because of their love of nature and beauty. Normally they are lucky in getting the inherited property through family or marriage. Negative Effect: Too much love of duty and sacrifice can bring personal disappointments in the life of a Six, although they may not care much about it. Reason should be applied before giving away beyond limit. Troubles of others, self-sacrifice and family ties all the time can make life barren and lonely for them. Sometimes a desire too strong for harmonious and pleasant surroundings can make the Sixes fussy, trivial and arrogant. They may become complacent and selfish. Straight足forwardness can create problems and ego for recognition can make them fall for flattery. Personal Side: Love, harmony and justice are the basic requirements of Sixes without which they cannot grow or produce their best. They are capable of giving love beyond limit and expect the same in marriage and family relations. One should be very lucky to marry the Sixes but it should not be forgotten that love is a two way traffic. Relations and friends always find the Six a dependable person, whatever the occasion. Because of loyalty to parents or family or because of involvements with duties and responsibilities Sixes may remain unmarried. But this would be a misfortune since Sixes cannot attain the heights of success and soul satisfaction which they are

capable of achieving, without a loving spouse and harmonious surroundings. However the reward of service and sacrifice comes to Sixes in the form of true love although in the later days of life. Sixes are honest in money matters and whenever dishonest they lead to failure. Sixes came into the world to do good to others, to set scales of sacrifice and service to humanity and to achieve heights on the lines of spiritual perfection of the soul. NUMBER 7

Positive Effect: Research, analysis, understanding, investigation, intellect, observation, specialisation, discovery or invention, love of solitude, philosophy, meditation, mysticism, occult, perfection, dignity, charm of personality. Opportunities and Vocation: Strongest of all the numbers from 1 to 9 they get the reward of Six on earth on the one hand and go for the inner search of soul and spiritual knowledge and discover the divine laws on the other. A mystic number recognised by all religions of the world — seven days in a week, seven colours in the spectrum, seven steps in the Ziggart (ladder) to Heaven, seven planets influencing the events on earth, seven notes in the scale of music, seven vowels in the Greek alphabet, seven chakras (Knots of energy) in the human body and seven the day the God rested after creation, as in the Bible. Multiples of seven days, weeks and months are crucial points in the development of the child since birth. Plants of pure strain have seven petals in their flowers. The highest among them being the lotus on which Buddha and other Hindu forms of God are found being seated. A Seven does not live an ordinary life. He may appear out of the common class, but when he discovers the philosophy of life and tells the divine laws hitherto unknown to the people, he is respected by all. Calm, serene, thinking and contemplating, he brings a soul in everything. He is always seeking knowledge and by the law of nature accomplishment and unexpected help comes to him surprisingly. Intuitive and possessing excellent mental powers he is seen educating the people in some part of his life definitely. He finds himself lonely even in the midst of a crowd but after learning to live with the soul he is not alone. The mankind knocks its doors for wisdom and knowledge. Skilled workers in any field, from an ordinary carpenter to a high level scientist, belong to the class of seven. A specialist, always surrounded with books, the seven is successful as a surgeon, professor, criminologist in secret service, historian, philosopher, poet and writer inclined towards the philosophy of life and any walk of life where specialisation and perfection is the goal. Seven likes and gets chances to travel quite often, inland and outland to broaden his horizon of knowledge, meeting people of different standards. He may start with a lower position if not properly educated but soon his skill and natural ability will show up and bring him to a better level and position. Personal Side: A Seven is passionate, charming, good natured, sincere, witty dignified and gracious man or woman, leaving his/her impression on others for magnetic personality. However, he/she is reserved and selective and could be misunderstood until properly known. He/she has strong likes and dislikes in everything. He/she is proof-demanding and does not like to be questioned too much. One has to wait till a seven is prepared to answer himself/herself. Doubting and questioning in scientific analysis is the key to success but in human relationships it can prove to be negative. This is one thing which seven must understand for domestic success. In love and marriage, Sevens should select a partner with similar interests, otherwise the relation

could be easily broken. Those who seek knowledge and are interested in the finer things of life should only seek the company of a seven. Although Sevens are deeply interested in love and sex they have natural self-control and can easily turn to a lonely or spiritual life. As such a marriage can only be successful and rewarding, if it is based on finer tastes and inner attractions. In general Sevens need time to be alone to think and study. They are not the caretakers but the educators of the world, on the lines of philosophy of life and the divine principles. Sevens do not like many people in the house, only a few selected ones. An elegant and well furnished home with a good environment and to the point of arrangement is what the Seven wants. Negative Effect: Too much reservedness, inadaptability and lack of trust in others can make the Seven aloof, confused and depressive. Pride, hidden motives and over positiveness can lead them into wrong situations. At times they can by cynically bad tempered and sarcastic. They can be extravagant for themselves and may lack the understanding for the need of their partners, thus making them annoyed. Independence, argumentativeness and lack of generosity can make them unpopular.

Positive Effect: Toughness, tenacity, authority, executive ability, direction, supervision, efficiency, organisation, judgement, materialism, capability of working for a cause, management, administration, ambition, dependability. Thus they could be executing and administrating as men and at the same time collecting details and relating facts and feelings as women. Opportunities and Vocation: 8 = 4+4 = (2+2)+(2+2). Thus Eights have quality of 2 (collection of details), quality of 4 (management and work) and the balance of two spheres as in the infinity symbol ‘ ’. They have the awareness, the power of judgement and the capability to handle the materialism on earth, created by 7, learned and perfected through their previous lives. Balance between heaven and earth, between masculine and feminine, like a double personality, represented by the two circles or spheres joined together. They take care of mankind by providing order and knowledge, growth and progress after going through the workshops of numbers 1 to 7. Capable of handling big projects, the Eights strive for big accomplishments in any venture. As a rule, eights are not lucky and they have to work hard and tenaciously to earn their reward both for money as well as position, which does not come to them the easy way. Eights are seen living in extremes — either at the height of success or as great failures — depending on how they have used their judgement of people and events. Through constant struggle they gain inner awareness for better purpose and finally become unprejudiced leaders. Being all round administrators, who can direct, supervise and control, Eights are successful in any large-scale organisation such as industry, commerce, politics, engineering and building, estate and property dealings, printing and publishing, travel and tourism, management, sports, museums etc. Being courageous and having power of observation and self-control they also make their mark in intelligence services. Eights are philosophical and are successful as social scientists or public speakers. Eights do not like subordinate positions. Through trust and dependability, they gain important positions eventually.

Personal Side: Eights are hard nuts and not easy persons to live with unless they are willing to adjust and are not too demanding. Generally involved in a variety of activities they overwork and have little time for personal matters. Nevertheless, they have a strong personality and like to wear sporty clothes, and enjoy good food and live in big houses. Though loyal in love and marriage, they have little time to enjoy the finer side of life which is so necessary for the too busy Eights. Quite often eights through lack of self-confidence allow the reward of their hard work to pass on to others with little for themselves. Eights need love and admiration from their partner to achieve the high goals they have in mind. Period of rest and easy life are necessary from time to time. Negative Effect: Over ambitiousness and too much materialism leads to strain and tension, sometimes a breakdown. Love of recognition and display of powers, lack of humanitarianism and consideration for others, obstinacy and impatience with others are some of the negative attitudes of Eights. They have a share of ‘ill-fate’ from nature as a rule-working too hard, getting poor results, unless repeated efforts are made. Money does not come to Eights so easily and whenever it comes a big part is spent on the establishment. Many of them find tragedy woven into their fate. NUMBER 9

Positive Effect: Selflessness, forgiveness, humanitarianism, compassion, tolerance, generosity, broad-mindedness, charitable, philanthropic, religionist, writer, artistic and dramatic talents, impulsive, unorthodox, spiritual and capable of living a divine life to a great extent. Opportunities and Vocation: Biggest of all the numbers from 1 to 9 they represent the beginning (1) and end (circle - 0) of experiences (1+0 =9). 3 times 3 they have the creativity and imagination of the highest order. Nine possesses the leadership of 1, peace and cooperation of 2, imagination and inspiration of 3, order and construction of 4, growth and progress of 5, love and responsibility of 6, intellect and perfection of 7, power and judgement of 8 and love of brotherhood and divinity of 9. Impersonal and working without a motive or desire they provide true service to mankind. Normally, Nines suffer with several disappointments in life but when the ‘self is realised or the ‘soul’ is recognised they radiate with divine love. Whenever they work for personal motives, whether for money, power or love, sufferings and pain is the result. However, they recover fast through some law of nature, and finally learn to work for the ‘universal good,’ which is their true nature. Money (4+6+5+5+7=27=9) and fortune (6+6+9+2+3+5+5=9) are naturally attracted by Nine and they are successful in any kind of work either inside the country or in a foreign land, when they work with their true impersonal nature. Travel (2+9+1+4+5+3=24=6) is also attracted by Nines and they are found moving around, meeting various people from different walks of life, understanding them and giving them love and care, and slowly becoming an object of love for everyone. Nines are specially successful where imagination and creativity is involved, for example in art, drama, theatre, book writing, acting, painting, designing, lecturing, religion, composing, publishing etc. Any business dealing with food, luxury, entertainment, tourism etc., finds avenues for the Nines. As perfectionists with the feelings of humanity they could be found in many situations, for example, a skilled surgeon.

Personal Side: Nines are trustworthy, loyal, romantic and have a charming personality. They crave for affection and would do almost anything to please their partner. They are good companions, liked by people, popular, like to enjoy fun in life. However, Nines are not very lucky in personal life. In the early part of life their personal and impersonal nature is quite often in conflict, producing problems for themselves. Slowly as the impersonal side starts taking over, their personality becomes more graceful. They normally seem to quarrel, and go through strifes and disappointments in life. Nines easily fall in love and they are idealistic in matters of marriage, home, family and friendship but success comes only if the relation is not based on personal attachment and possession. Whenever they work for the cause of others, their intuition, inner wisdom based on all other numbers and their strength of character bring wonderful results for others as well as for themselves. They get several opportunities and assistance comes to them in a natural way making life successful for them and useful for others. Quite often they are found under the influence of an elderly family member, especially father, both to their advantage and disadvantage at times. They normally keep good health. Negative Effect: Nines are moody and impulsive and unless properly educated and selfcontrolled, they act hastily and repent later. Changeability in love affairs, carelessness in money matters, and inclination for high living — eat, drink and be merry — can prove quite harmful for them. At times they can be selfish, possessive, intolerant and even deceptive. If the talents are not used properly for the common cause, Nines can end up being jack of all trades and masters of none. 4. Other Numbers: Although 1 to 9 are the basic numbers, the numbers 11 and 22 are also considered important and are not reduced to single digit of 1+1=2 and 2+2=4. NUMBER 11

Positive Effect: Humanitarianism, energy, intuition, inspiration, prophetic ability, illumination. Opportunities and Vocation: Elevens are an exceptional number normally related to extraordinary people and events. They have initiative and will power of 1 and spiritual ability of 2 blended together, making it the number of ‘spiritual force’ leading to enlightenment, when working in a positive direction. Great teachers, missionaries, religionists, politicians, artists, writers, musicians and scientists belong to this class. They are ‘non-materialistic’ by nature and are seen working for the cause of the people and the world. Through selfless service they bring light to humanity. Personal Side: Warm hearted but dedicated to some common cause they are normally neglectful towards themselves and their immediate families. Someone with similar ideas can make a wonderful team in love and marriage, otherwise the relations cannot be lasting. They are emotionally cool, lack demonstration and appear to be uncaring, distant and detached. Negative Effect: Too much sensitiveness, nervous tension, impracticality and selfishness is the oppostie side of Eleven. They could be inconsiderate and force their views on others, whether they like it or not. Not quite strong on either side, hanging between spirituality and materialism, Elevens could be dangerous and frightening. They could be perverted and whenever a personal ambition replaces the devotion to common cause, evil and disaster is the only result. Malevolent

Positive Effect: Mastermind, very capable, wise, creative, spiritual master, luminary. Opportunities and Vocation: Twenty-twos again are an exceptional number representing great spiritual power blended with practical manifestation on earth (2+2=4). 2 is the number of peace and spirituality and 4 is the number of hard work and practicality. They are bubbling with energy and are very hard working. They are capable of handling big projects which can lead them to power, position and attainment. Since the spiritual and material forces are always in conflict; their success depends on working with only one of them. If applied to materialism they can achieve worldly fame. On the other hand if they work with the occult and mysticism, neglecting the material aspect, they can become luminaries shedding light on mankind. But they may require the help of others to put their fine inner feelings into practical shape, which is not so easy. Personal Side: They are kind, sincere and romantic people. They have good humour and intellect and prefer to have a similar kind of partner in life, if it comes to love and marriage. In general they have a compromising attitude and can have good acquaintances. Negative Effect: Quite often it is very difficult for Twenty-twos to get over the conflict of inner feelings and practicality and this leads to failure and disappointment since the project in hand is not accomplished. In another situation if their mind turns to the negative side they can be hardened criminals proving very difficult for the good of society. Jealousy, malevolence and attraction for black magic are some of the negative aspects of Twenty-twos. Remarks: 7 and 22 are both spiritual numbers. In mathematics they are related through the Greek letter V which equals 22/7 giving the ratio of the circumference of the circle to its diameter. Furthermore, the Hebrew language contains 22 alphabets and was said to be the language of the God. These facts attach much occult and spiritual importance with the number Twenty-two. Compound and Karmic Numbers

Numbers 1 to 9 are the basic numbers while all other numbers starting from 10 onwards are called ‘compound numbers’, that is, they are numbers with double digits. These numbers when reduced to a single digit 10/1 - (1+0=1) represent the wheel of fortune. It has the property of 1 more intensified and one is known for the good or bad according to the desire. 19/1 - (1+9=10=1) is a Karmic number. 28/1 - (2+8=10=1) has the magnified properties of 1 and it indicates progress in business ventures through cooperation with others. 11/2 - (1+1=2) applied to events, is a Karmic number, as an experience. 20/2 - (2+0=2) has the magnified properties of 2 and represents peace and happiness. 29/11 - (2+9=11) has the magnified properties of 11. 12/3 - (1+2=3) receives help and opportunities through friends and acquaintances on the lines of creativity.

21/3 - (2+1=3) represents emotional instability and confusion. Quite often there is a worry about what others feel and think about you. Through impulses you might be generous and later feel sorry about the loss. 30/3 - (3+0=3) indicates high emotions which may bring positive results if rightly directed. More often than not the person acts too impulsively and the results are negative in matters of relations. A separation may take place but one may live for the nobler cause of love and humanity. 13/4 - (1+3=4) is a Karmic number. 22/4 - (2+2=4) applied to events, is a Karmic number, as an experience. 31/4 - (3+1=4) requires a lot of hard work and patience for achieving success. 14/5 - (1+4=5) is a Karmic Number. 23/5 and 32/5 offer unusual lines of work based on creative talents according to the opportunity. Consideration for others and unselfishness brings good results. 15/6 - (1 independence, 5=freedom, 6=love) brings enjoyable social life. There is a tendency to ignore the rules of society and this can lead to problems through the opposite sex. More than one involvement may give extra pleasure but it has its share of disappointment and emotional confusion in the end. If other numbers show a desire to help others and a control over personal freedom, the period can be noted for a successful career through finer things of life. 24/6 - (2+4=6) although carrying properties of number 6, indicates limitations and restrictions on personal freedom due to involvements in the affairs of family members and others — a requirement of 2 and 4. 16/7 - (1+6=7) is a Karmic Number. 25/7 - (2+5=7) indicates group activities (2) leading to scientific or philosophical research and an experience of freedom in the end (5). 34/7 - (3+4=7) is creative (3) and limited (4) in any undertaking. 17/8 - (1+7=8) is a strong force leading to success in business on unusual lines and giving independent position. 26/8 - (2+6=8) more often than not brings detrimental results in business, partnerships (or family matters). This could be due to unbalanced emotions, self-indulgence, wrong judgement of people or events, or neglecting details of the work which is a requirement of the period. There is a feeling of loss and/or deceivement from partners or associates. 35/8 - (3+5=8) leads to advancement in business and finances due to creativity (3) and freedom (5). 18/9 - (1+8=9) is important and it indicates position of authority in some big organisation, but often there is a struggle to square minor differences, prove your rightness and then get some benefits. In business it shows good opportunities for expansion on philanthropic lines concerning the good of humanity. 27/9 - (2+7=9) is good for bringing results of co-operative (2) and intellectual pursuits (7) coupled together for higher achievements in creative or Philanthropic fields. A promise of money, travel and/or recognition for intellectual work. 36/9 - (3+6=9) brings results like 27 but using creativity of 3 and humanitarianism of 6.

KARMIC NUMBERS

D EM

O

The word ‘karma’ has a very deep occult and philosophical implication. ‘Karma’ means the ‘result of actions’ in the previous lifetimes. One has to pay the price in the form of failures, sufferings, disappointments, accidents etc., in the present life. For good actions in the past one is rewarded in the form of success, promotions, material gains, honours and similar things unexpectedly in this life. Finding no other reason for the strange and often peculiar experiences undergone by individuals, or why one fails and another succeeds, we are compelled to believe that life is but a part of great eternity in the plan of that ‘Universal Intelligence’ for reasons of its own. In the last two decades we have studied thousands of cases in different parts of the world and we have invariably found that one cannot escape the ‘Karma’ and has consequently to pay the price. When a Karmic Number appears on one of the major positions the individual meets with repeated failures tiiroughout life. If it appears as an event number then the effect remains only for that period and the experience is for a short time. When the rains are due to come you cannot stop them but you can put an umbrella over your head so that you can minimise the wetting. Moreover, if the rains are coming frequendy, one can learn to live with them and progress ahead constandy without being self-destructive or losing faith in one’s self. One should remember that as soon as the ‘Karmic debt’ is paid one emerges as a new individual with a greater potential. One can develop missing forces indicated as ‘challenge number’ and cash in intelligently on positive talents with faith for the purpose of ‘destiny’. If one surrenders and succumbs to the forces of Karma in a defeated way, for example the one who is commiting suicide, he/she is reborn on earth with greater miseries to be encountered, until the lesson is learnt and the price is paid. Lifetimes on earth are only shorter periods to be lived, for lessons to be leamt, and perfection achieved so that one lives happily beyond earth for very long spans and for positive purposes of the Divine Plans. One should never forget that ‘God does everything for good’. 19/1 - (l=selfishness and egotism + 9 = misused talents and ambitions) is a result of the misuse of the power in the past involving negative aspects of 1 and 9. You may see that the opportunities are there but the problems and obstacles will not let you cash in on them. You may find it difficult to use your talents to get the advantage. Your motives will be known to others and they may not let you progress. I have seen people struggling for independence and freedom and a hasty action often leads to worse situations. You may feel yourself being a victim of circumstances or plans and intrigues of others. If you oppose them, there are immediate problems. If you surrender, the pressure goes on increasing making it more difficult to set yourself free. The possible way out is to understand the need of the self and the needs of others and work patiently in a sacrificing manner, till the debt is over. 11/2- involves the negative aspects of the number 11 and is a result of perversion and selfish ambitions in the past. It has a very strong impact on life. A crisis in material and/or domestic life.Sudden break in association/partnerships causing a shock to the emotions. Things like sudden marriage, sudden separation, misunderstandings, feelings of loss and separations do come in. There could be a divorce, a business break down or a loss in power/position as soon as the event number 11/ 2 starts operating. Many lessons are learnt as far as material life is concerned. But if the person is spiritual or if he has an awakening to the needs and desires of others and if he/she is forgiving, tolerant and understanding, this is a wonderful period for inner illumination.

One could feel a new awareness of great importance leading to peace for himself and for others. It is the number noted for the downfall of people like Hitler and Mussolini on one side and for inner happiness and peace as in the case of sages like Christ and Buddha on the other hand. Heightened sensitivity and nervous tension could be the cause of many problems during the period. 13/4 - (l=selfishness and egotism +3= trivial and frivolous activities) is a result of negative aspects of 1 and 3 in the past. Moreover the subject must not have carried out his share of work and would have passed it on to others, unnecessarily burdening them. As a result a debt is to be in the form of limitations and restrictions being experienced in spite of hard work. Despite best efforts one may find it extremely difficult to produce positive results. Everything may demand much in the form of work, opportunities may appear limited and restrictive and the advantage may be negated due to limitations. I have personally known people who did not get easy and expected positive outcomes while in a 13/4 period, for no obvious reasons. They feel dejected, nervous and they want to give up everything and run away. Some easier path may appear in sight but the search proves frustrating and there is no satisfaction. The only way out, partially though, is to be aware of the fact that mistakes had been committed in the past, and take all duties and responsibilities. 13 is considered to be an unlucky number or a bad omen in many parts of the world and the thirteenth Tarrot Card represents death. Yet, the results are not always as dreadful as feared and for some people 13 has proved to be a lucky number. Overall, it is a number of limitations and negation of advantages. 22/4-although discussed in the previous section in detail, it needs mention here as a Karmic number whenever it appears as an event number. As soon as the period begins the subject gets an important project in hand related to his field of work beyond their capacity and since they are unable to meet the requirements, they cut a sorry figure in the end. They suffer humiliation and find themselves defeated persons. Only rarely can people check the desire to take on responsibility beyond their capacity and in that case they are crowned with success in the form of position and/or material gains. Throughout the period there is high sensitivity (two 2’s) and difficulty is felt in expressing finer feelings in a materialistic practical way (the total =4). 14/5- (l=selfishness and egotism+4 = non-seriousness and irresponsibility) is a result of misuse of power (negative 1) and (negative 5) in the past. The subject will have a keen desire for physical stimulation and is likely to be given to high living—eating, drinking, sensual pleasure, wrong habits—all leading to destruction rather than construction. It shows negative attributes of 5 being manifested. The person may be restless, moving from one activity to another, not gaining depth or perfection on any line of work. The only way to avoid loss and disappointment is to try to stick to one line of work or one relation and sacrifice the fruit of perfection whenever it is likely in view. Delays, interruptions, and improper use of talents can only be avoided with a detachment for material gains and selfless service to others—a reversal of the mistakes committed in the earlier incarnation. 16/7-(l=selfishness and egotism+6=illicit love affairs and distortion of love feelings) is a result of negative 1 and 6 used in past life and in the present life negative 7 is manifested. Because of unusual behaviour, and strange reservedness the person may be unapproachable and may behave in a self-centred and unexpected way. As a result the marriage and business relations could be damaged beyond repair. Power position and material possessions may be suddenly and unexpectedly worsened or in some cases lost. Relations and general matters may suddenly come to an end. People may appear to be unreliable and working against the interest of the person under the influence of 16/7. Some unusual circumstances may change dependable friends to be

drifting away. A feeling of loss and humiliation can prevail. The best way is to give up pride and vanity to avoid the quirk of fate and put a stop to difficulties being magnified. Selflessness and service to humanity is the lesson to be learnt. If it is an experience directed by the event number it will soon be over. If it is a major number it will show up with the person time and again and life can be hell unless the person learns to live selflessly for the cause of humanity using his intelligence and scientific skill (7).

Conclusion Single numbers, compound and karmic numbers all of them have their effect according to the position in which they are found. As a major number, they have a life-long effect, while as an event number the effect is for the specific period only. The numbers do not lie and the Numerologist should not use his/her personal knowledge in investigating the character or destiny of a person, because this can be misleading. Study the numbers and synchronise them according to the positions they are found on. The nine numbers (1-9) are divided into three classifications: 1-5-7:are the strong masculine numbers, which are the initiators, go-getters, leaders-they keep things moving on their wheels. 2-4-8: are the feminine counterparts of the above numbers-they collect details, manage things and direct affairs in the increasing order of intensity. Number 8, although even, has masculine qualities of direction and execution, but it has a big share of being unlucky and getting disappointment in many situations. Words ‘Karma’ and ‘Mystic’, both total 8 and the final outcome depends on the judgement of people and events. 3-6-9: are the gifted numbers of nature, carrying their reward from the previous good deeds. They take life easy and consider it to be their right on every good and comfortable thing of the world. They are bom lucky and they get most of the things they wish for in life. As a rule, the odd numbers 1-3-5-7-9 go very well with each other when they are found on different positions and the synchronisation is good. They are introvert numbers and are concerned with the self, developing themselves and are not much concerned with others. 9 is a partial exception which is unselfish and is concerned with the good of others. They are selective, concerned with their own development to the point of perfection and they do not need the people or the crowd in general for their existence, progress and success. Of course, on perfection, they show light to others and are torch-bearers for the cause of humanity. The even numbers 2-4-6-8 are in general the carry outers of the plans of odd numbers — can be called complementary to those numbers — and they find a good synchronisation with each other when found on different positions.
