The School of International Letters in Cultures opens the door to language, thinking and customs of many di erent peoples — past, present and future — to build true global citizens. Academic excellence
This academic year, 15 students in the Russian department have received nearly 30 awards, ranging from ASU research scholarships to State Department internships and Pickering Fellowships.

Celebrating storytelling
Anita Huizar-Hernandez, an associate professor of Spanish, received four Arizona Humanities awards for her work archiving the narratives of asylum seekers formerly incarcerated in Arizona.
Japanese food and culture showcase
The annual Onigiri Action event promoted Japanese culture and cuisine at ASU while supporting an initiative providing school meals for communities worldwide.
