//WORLDING Animal extinction has always been an ongoing topic till this day. It is ironic that regardless of our modern interventions, our advanced technology actually does more harm than good towards wildlife. The extinction fighter is a program which tackles the controversial topic regarding animals who are placed into captive spaces, as it is often faced with ethical/moral debate, having to do with the ubiquitous notion in a form of confinement once captivity is addressed. The Extinction Fighter also uses architecture to venture into the West Water Treatment, using it as an extension of the infrastructure to educate both us and the wildlife at the same time, in an attempt to allow the animals to learn, adapt and overcome in a series of field trials integrated with our by-products while serving as a reminder to us as a society, acknowledging the position and role we need to play in the overall ecology.
4
//PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Extinction Fighter consists of 4 main programs throughout the site : The Vet Atrium, The Fountain, Camping Site and The Survival Training Atrium. Each area houses different methods to treat the animals, architectural composition act as a bridge to tie the West Water Treatment and E.F program into a co-existing state, providing not only the recycled water across the state but also the ecology exists within the site (in accordance to Werribee Zoo captive program) which the infrastructure had built upon in the first place. Our journey begins in the information centre, as briefing is needed before entering the zone. The space also houses AirBnB resting spots for visitors who are also journeying across the 7 sites, allowing them to reside and be in a vulnerable state while interacting with the wildlife.

THE VET ATRIUM SEEKS TO CHALLENGE THE IDEA OF CAPTIVITY VS CONFINEMENT BY ASKING: WHAT THE SPACE BE AFTER WE TEND TO THE ANIMALS IN CAPTIVITY? ORNAMENTS THAT MIMIC THE FORM OF NATURE WHILE THE CAPTIVE SPACE CREATES A LINEAR PATHWAY FOR THE ANIMALS TO ENGAGE IN DIFFERENT PLANES. THE FOUNTAIN IS LOCATED IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR SITE. THE STRUCTURE IS AN EXTENSION OF THE RECYCLED WATER FACILITY, THE LANDSCAPE IS SHAPED IN FORMS OF CREVICES AS THE PROCESSED WATER FLOWS TO THE LOWER HALF OF THE SITE, DISTRIBUTING WATERS ACROSS EACH BUILDING, WHICH IS USED EITHER FOR DRINKING OR FIELD TRIALS TO DRAW DIDACTIC VALUES TO THE ANIMALS.

AS HUMAN CIVILIZATION CONTINUES TO ADVANCE, CREATING MAJOR CITIES AND INTRODUCING OBJECTS THAT ARE CONSIDERED FOREIGN TO THE ANIMALS. COLLECTIVE
The collective indicates the reaction of spatial qualities found within the architecture that situates around the site.
To support the language of cohension.
UNFOLDING
The unfolding qualities is a literally physical interpretation of revealing drawing out the typical notion of function found in the depths of space within an architecture that is undeviating, creating formal outcomes that have a macro qualities in the components to invite and gradually shifts into a micro scale at towards the end of the form. The components are also angled in diagonally to include the negatives spaces from its surroundings, giving the impression of collaboration between form and void.
TRANSITORY
What can the space provide to the site, how does it act as an agent back towards the infrastructure?
CONVERGE COLLIUSION
Structural disposition allows civic come into contact with the infrastructure. Forming relationship as the ‘core subject’ (red) converge together, leading into an encompassing moment from all directions. The experience and moments found in the converging spaces reshapes the perception of the initial experience as multiple elements come into contact.
COHESIVE
The formal qualities has to create a cohesive language to strengthen the idea of non-hierarchy. As different formal outcome could be identified as two different objects/impression. This strategy is purely visual and could transform into a more ornamental representation for the project.
INCORPORATE
The action to incorporate in this project was applied through the use of circulation. Personally, circulation is a input to distinguish two disparate programs while acting as a bridge to connect the two. Thus acting it can be seen as a boundary. The idea here is to blur between boundary and interaction through the application of scale towards the circulation as well as creating a ambiguous pathway that intersects with any programs.
NON-HIERARCHICAL
The initial idea for the non-hierarchical approach tries to draw out the important civic & infrastructural qualities found in the site by potentially assigning the programs to the ‘red’ volumes because of the spatial sequences are rearranges with behavioural system of physical unfolding movement of petals from a flower.
