SVANØY
Svanøy, known as the pearl of Sunnfjord, is a verdant island with a fascinating history. Svanøy is easily reached by local ferry all year round, and in summer you can join a guided tour.
From Florø, the local boat sails through a magnificent land- scape to the bay of Svanøy, Svanøybukt. Svanøybukt is popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. Historic Svanøy Hovedgård is just 10 minutes’ walk from Svanøybukt. In its time, the manor house has been home to both aristocrats and bishops. 5 km beyond here is Norsk Hjortesenter – the Norwegian Deer Centre, a national centre of expertise on the red deer, where you can experience the deer at close quarters!
In Svanøybukt, you’ll find a guest harbour with power hookups, a general store and an inn. You can get a free map of the island and hire bikes at the general store. Cycling around this verdant island is a fantastic experience. You can reserve a bike in advance by calling +47 57 74 00 29. Next to the general store is the inn, Svanøy Kro, where you can enjoy venison or salmon burgers made locally using ingredients sourced from the area. 12.00 12.50 12.50 13.10 14.00 14.20 15.05
