Working with pastels, allow you to capture the rich colors of the beautiful hydrangeas at the garden. We will work on capturing the light and color of the blossoms. The garden has a collection of over 300 varieties of hydrangeas. Weather permitting we will paint en plein air. Jill Haack will teach you how to layer pastels with an underpainting. Drawing Orchids in Colored Pencil Explore the exquisite and varied colorations of the Orchid family. Start by drawing from color reproductions of orchids, then move on to work from live orchid stems. This class examines the cultural requirements of this group and their adaptation to the home environment. Drawing Trees Celebrate trees by learning to draw them with pencil, pen, marker and charcoal. This course will explore the use of different home environments for growing both beginner and advanced orchids. Spaces ranging from windowsills to Wardian Cases will be covered, with attention given to lighting, environmental conditions and routine care in each space. Orchid varieties suitable for culture in these home environments will also be highlighted along the way.
