MARCH 2-6, 2022 - CHASE FIELDHOUSE - WILMINGTON, DEL.

CH A M PI O N SHI P R EG U LATI O NS FORMAT The Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Championship is a single-elimination championship involving the 14 conference members. Seeds are determined by regular season conference standings according to final overall conference records and the tiebreaking formula, if necessary. TIE-BREAKING FORMULA The following tie-breaking format is utilized for determine seeding. TWO-TEAM TIE 1. Head-to-head competition. 2. Conference record of the tied teams based on winning percentage versus the highest common opponent and proceeding down to the lowest common opponent, if necessary, until one team gains an advantage. a. All ties are broken in descending order. b. When arriving at another pair of tied teams, use each team’s record against the tied teams as a group. When comparing records against a group of teams, the higher winning percentage will prevail. In case of tied percentages vs. the team or group of 1.000 or .000, the following shall apply: 2-0 is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2. 3. Coin toss. THREE OR MORE TEAMS TIE 1. Head-to-head competition. Use each team’s record against the tied teams as a group rather than performance against individual teams. When comparing records against a group of teams, the higher winning percentage will prevail. In case of tied percentages vs. the team or group of 1.000 or .000, the following shall apply: 2-0 is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2. 2. If the above results in two teams remaining, the two-team tiebreaker is used. 3. If more than two teams still remain, use the Conference record of the tied teams based on winning percentage versus the highest common opponent and proceeding down to the lowest common opponent, if necessary, until one team gains an advantage. a. All ties are broken in descending order. b. When arriving at another pair of tied teams, use each team’s record against the tied teams as a group. When comparing records against a group of teams, the higher winning percentage will prevail. In case of tied percentages vs. the team or group of 1.000 or .000, the following shall apply: 2-0 is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2. 4. Draw lots. NOTE: All ties will be broken in descending order. When arriving at another pair of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s record against the tied teams as a group rather than the performance against individual tied teams. Once ties are broken, they remain broken throughout the tiebreaker process. SEEDING The Atlantic 10 will use a hybrid seeding procedure for seeding the 2022 Women’s Basketball Championship. - The league will use straight winning percentage as the overall procedure unless the average number of games completed by all teams falls to or below 12 games for women’s basketball (which is 75% of a 16-game schedule). - If the average number of games completed by each team falls to or below or 12, the league automatically shifts to the KenPom adjusted winning percentage overall procedure. Projected decision date for the shift would be on or about Feb. 22. - Existing tiebreakers will be utilized, regardless of which model is used. - In both methods, there will be a threshold of four games below the average number of games completed to qualify for the double-bye (top four seed) AND win the regular season championship. If a team does not play enough games, the highest it could be seeded would be fifth. - The chart below dictates how many games are needed to be eligible for a regular season title and double-bye/top four seed. Average Games Completed 16 15 14 13

M E D I A I NF OR M ATI O N VACCINATIONS Protocols and Atlantic 10 policies requires all media members to be fully vaccinated (including boosters if eligible) in order to attend the Atlantic 10 Championship. MASKING Media members (excluding fully vaccinated broadcast television talent) must remain masked at all times during the championship. Violation of this policy will result in immediate ejection and revocation of access. TEAM RADIO POLICIES Each participating team radio will have 2-3 seats on press row during the session in which their team is playing. The entity that originates the broadcast will be charged a line usage fee that will cover all costs related to phone, ISDN and internet lines. This is a flat fee of $250 regardless of the type of transmission (analog, ISDN, internet). Student radios will not be charged this fee unless they serve as the official team radio, and they cannot sit courtside unless they serve as the official team radio. BLOGGING/TWEETING POLICY Each credential holder (including television, Internet, new media, and print publications) has the privilege to blog and/or tweet during competition through the credentialed entity. However, the blog may not produce in any form a “real-time” description of the event. Real-time is defined by the A-10 as a continuous play-by-play account or live, extended live/real-time statistics, or detailed description of an event. CREDENTIAL POLICY All media credentials must be secured through Jay Sullivan, Media Coordinator. No exceptions will be permitted. Credentials are non-transferable. Credential requests must be completed online on the official request site provided by the Atlantic 10 and received by Monday, February 21, 2022 at 5:00 pm ET. ON-COURT CAMERA POLICY During timeouts, handheld television cameras must remain in the lane unless prior approval from the conference office is obtained. Conference policy prohibits cameras from shooting the interior of a team huddle during a timeout. At the conclusion of the championship final, still photographers and videographers will be allowed on court to shoot the celebrations. Conference personnel will then establish a rope line, which photographers and videographers must remain behind for the awards ceremony. The official A-10 Championship photographer, A-10 Network videographer and a camera person from the television partner will have front-row priority spots to shoot the awards ceremony. LOCKER ROOM ACCESS Access to team locker rooms will not be permitted throughout the entirety of the championship. The head coach and select players will be available for interview following games. One-on-one interivews outside of the alloted post-game press conferences will be granted on a case-by-base basis; however, those circumstances must be approved by both the conference communications office and appropriate team personnel (SID). CREDENTIAL DISTRIBUTION No media credentials will be mailed. Any special needs relative to seating should be brought to their attention. Priority is given to outlets that staff A-10 games on a regular basis, team radio broadcasts and national outlets. PHOTO AREA/POLICIES Photo areas are located in marked areas in both end zones. Photographers are NOT allowed outside of that area except television cameras airing the game live. Each photographer will be assigned a photo box based on a first come, first serve basis in the media office on site. FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY Use of flashes is prohibited. Use of strobes must be approved by the Media Coordinator no later than Thursday, February 24, 2022. Professional scouts will be issued a scouting pass with allowed access to the Media Work Room. Scouts must sit in the designated section with purchased tickets. Scouts MUST purchase tickets through the Atlantic 10 to receive the scouting pass. Scouting services are subject to the same policy as professional team scouts. Locker rooms will not be open. For championship Sunday, the order of teams will be reversed, with the losing team going first in the postgame interview room following the cooling-off period, followed by the winning team. COVID Protocols at the time of the championship may require virtual press conferences. If needed, information on accessing these press conferences will be distributed to media and team personnel in attendance. CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS VOTING The Atlantic 10 will designate media members who have covered the quarterfinals through the championship as All-Championship team voters. Voters do NOT have to be present to be an All-Championship voter. The A-10 Communications staff will select these voters and confirm their participation on Saturday. These voters will be emailed a link through the A-10 voting system Sunday morning for voting, and must turn in their votes by the 10-minute mark of the second half of the championship final. The Atlantic 10 office will then compile the votes and announce the All-Championship team during the postgame awards ceremony.
