NEWSLETTER June 2010 Wild thing A guitar case to hold bottles of vintage Dom Pérignon Rosé champagne is certainly a wild idea, but putting it into practice is even wilder. However, designer Karl Lagerfeld didn’t hesitate. And of course, to cover the luxurious guitar case and complement the pink drink, he selected pink perch leather, made to order by Atlantic Leather. The “wild” texture of the perch leather works perfectly here. Lagerfeld’s gorgeous guitar case is the pièce de résistance at the exhibition Deep Sea to High Fashion at the Icelandic Museum of Design and Applied Art, which highlights fishleather from Atlantic Leather, and the imaginative ways that designers are using it. The exhibition has been in preparation for two years, and some of the exhibits were designed specifically for this event. The show includes the work of internationally-known designers, such as bags from Christian Dior and Ferregamo, shoes from Donna Karan and Nike, and an amusing angler’s hat by Jacques Le Corre. The Icelandic designers featured in the exhibition also display an impressive imagination and range in their use of fishleather, which has been enthusiastically embraced by the Icelandic design world. The exhibition Deep Sea to High Fashion demonstrates that we are on the right path, in our development of fishleather and the interplay of colour and texture, and striving to provide an outstanding service to our clients. We can’t wait to hear your wildest ideas!
