May 25 marked one year since Atrium Health Foundation publicly launched Giving Hope: The Campaign for Atrium Health – a bold initiative that will fuel the health system’s vision to be the national leader for health, learning, and community.
To celebrate, friends of Atrium Health gathered for a long awaited, in-person event at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte. Gene Woods, president and CEO of Atrium Health, shared an update on the campaign, which has raised $200 million to date in its first year. Guests also heard from Hugh McColl, virtually, as well as guest speaker Smoky Bissell, whose family’s involvement with Atrium Health has spanned decades. Margaret and Smoky Bissell's most recent $30 million gift has inspired others to step forward and support the campaign.
Thanks to the generosity of community members, corporations, and foundations, Atrium Health Foundation is well on its way toward an ambitious $500 million goal. Philanthropy is paving the way for game-changing projects associated with the four pillars of the campaign: Healthy communities, outstanding education, preeminent research, and exemplary facilities.
