Hometown Team Invests
IN THE POWER OF PLAY FOR CHILDREN’S HEALTH
The Carolina Panthers are helping kids win from within by partnering with Atrium Health to revitalize a play therapy room in the Atrium Health Behavioral Health Charlotte facility. The renovated space is designed to bring healing to many of the youngest and most vulnerable patients in our community. In addition to renovating the playroom itself, grant funding from the Carolina Panthers has allowed Atrium Health to purchase new, durable toys to support a diverse spectrum of patients through enhanced play therapy.
"We needed our play therapy room to be welcoming and comfortable for our youngest patients," said Christine Zazzaro, vice president and facility executive of Atrium Health Behavioral Health Charlotte. "Now, our mental health specialists can better interact with and care for kids in a space that's not only engaging, but beautiful."
On and off the field, the Carolina Panthers continue to invest in the health and wellbeing of our community. In addition to the team’s longstanding support of Atrium Health’s cancer research and community wellness initiatives, their investment in children’s mental health is essential, as we combat both the physical and psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The mental health concerns of children is a significant issue in the wake of the pandemic,” said Riley Fields, Panthers director of community relations. “The Carolina Panthers are pleased to partner with Atrium Health to provide enhanced resources to support the mental health needs and well-being for children in our community.”
Partners in this important endeavor, Atrium Health and the Carolina Panthers share a common belief in the power of play to bring health, hope, and healing to children who need it most.
