The Great American Conference offically became the NCAA’s 23rd Division II league on March 9, 2011. The league’s charter members are listed above. Southern Nazarene University and Northwestern Oklahoma State University accepted provisional membership invitations in May of 2011. The NCAA accepted SNU into membership process in July 2011. The NCAA accepted NWOSU into membership process in July 2012. The league earned automatic bids into NCAA posteason play for volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s tennis, baseball and softball beginning with the 2013-14 season.

One of the most recognizable buildings in the entire Arkansas River Valley, Tucker Coliseum has played host to Arkansas Tech University Athletics events since 1976

Coliseum the building has aTucker seating capacity of 3,500 and is home for the men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as the volleyball program. The floor was remodeled in 2011. .

2012-13 In Review

Golden Suns

The Golden Suns went 23-6 last season with an 17-3 Great American Conference Record. They finished as champions in the conference and in the GAC Tournament. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they fell in the first round to Minnesota State-Mankato. Rosie Silva and Jessica Weatherford were named All-GAC First Team. Silva was also named GAC Player of the Year, GAC Defender of the Year, Third Team All-American, and Daktronics All-Region Second Team. Weatherford, Silva, and Caroline Eubanks were named to the GAC All-Tournament Team. Silva broke a record for number of steals in one game with 12. Eubanks also set a record with her 22 rebounds against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
