The 49-day mourning period is still in place since the passing of World Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu Karate Do Soke Takayoshi Nagamine who left us on April 28th, 2012.
The World Matsubayashi Ryu Karate Do has selected Yoshitaka Taira, Hanshi, 10th Dan as the new president and technical director. Taira sensei is a noted international teacher, and a former coach of the Okinawan Prefectural Karate Team. Vice-President is Toshimitsu Arakaki, Hanshi, 10th Dan. 2
Soke Nagamine's son, Bunshiro Nagamine, has resumed his training making it now possible for the continuation of the Nagamine family lineage.
Highlights
For the better month of June Dimitrios Lemonis went to Dubai while the rest of us green with envy stayed back and kept on training!

A “Kodak Moment� of Odeion Musical Praxis Director Giorgos Argyropoulos, and bussom buddy Nikos Theodorou. An over ten-year friendship jelled due to serious martial arts training, continuous research, long philosophical discussions, lots of beer, and BBQs.

TKD change of belt promotions were held on 16 June, 2012. Due to the huge number of candidates, they were separated into two groups, and everything was done twice! An all around TKD demonstration was planned which also included a short Kobudo presentation.

Περίοδος των Βροχών - Tsuyu
Η περίοδο των βροχών (tsuyu), για το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της Ιαπωνίας, ξεκινά γύρω στις αρχές του Ιουνίου μέχρι τα μέσα Ιουλίου. Κάθε μέρα ο ουρανός παραμένει συννεφιασμένος καθώς η θερμοκρασία και η υγρασία ανεβαίνουν. Είναι ίσως η λιγότερο ευχάριστη εποχή του χρόνου. Λόγω του καιρού, τα παραδοσιακά ξύλινα Ιαπωνικά σπίτια χτίζονταν σε απόσταση από το 10
έδαφος για να κρατούν την ζέστη και την υγρασία μακριά και είχαν ενιαίους χώρους-χωρίς τοίχους ενδιάμεσα-για να διευκολύνεται η ομοιόμορφη κίνηση του αέρα. Σήμερα που οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι ζουν σε διαμερίσματα πολυκατοικιών από μπετόν, χρησιμοποιούν κλιματιστικά και αφυγραντήρες για να αντιμετωπίσουν τον καιρό αυτό. Η πρώιμη καλοκαιρινή βροχή βοηθά τα φυτά να μεγαλώνουν και να ανθίζουν και είναι μια πολύτιμη πηγή πόσιμου νερού. Αν δεν βρέξει αρκετά κατά την διάρκεια αυτής της περιόδου (tsuyu) τότε θα υπάρξει και έλλειψη νερού στα μέσα του καλοκαιριού. Επίσης, η μούχλα που ανταπτύσεται με τον υγρό καιρό βοηθά την παραγωγή κάποιων βασικών τροφών της ιαπωνικής δίαιτας, όπως το miso, το sake, και την σάλτσα σόγιας.
Ancient History
A dream came true when Katherine visited Okinawa for the first time on December, 1982. Katherine lived in a traditional motel next to Nagamine Sensei’s Headquarters. The owner, Nakayoshi san, dressed her in a kimono with the traditional colors of Okinawa.
