Since 1979, Arts Umbrella has been committed to delivering the highest quality visual and performing arts education to young people. A not-for-profit organization, Arts Umbrella relies on the support of the community to deliver high-quality arts education experiences through tuition-based programs, and free-of-charge outreach programs delivered throughout Metro Vancouver. summer programs Arts Umbrella Summer Programs offer an intensive, arts-infused learning experience. how to participate 1. Create an account. BEFORE registering, set up or confirm required online account details at www.artsumbrella.com. 2. Choose a session. Register for one or more sessions. 3. Choose morning, afternoon, or full day. Full day programming available for ages 6 through 12. 4. Determine appropriate age category. To ensure the best experience, participants must be the correct age by program start date. 5. Is your family facing financial hurdles to participation? Bursary applications are available online or from Arts Umbrella. Contact Student Services for details. 6. Register. Go to www.artsumbrella.com to register online. Registrations may also be completed in person or by fax (see back). You will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive confirmation within 7 business days, contact Arts Umbrella. 7. Come to class! All classes take place at Arts Umbrella’s South Surrey studios, unless otherwise specified.

Theme Week – Put On A Show: July 22–26 AGES 6–8 (PRIMARY) and AGES 9–12 (INTERMEDIATE) 9:30–3:45 PM Let’s put on a show! Work with Theatre and Visual Artists to put together a performance for the end of the week. This week long program explores all elements of putting on a live show including set design, costume making, acting and directing. Students will work as a team on all aspects of the performance under the guidance of experienced Visual Artists and Actors to create a piece that represents everyone involved. Bring your creative ideas and take your place either in front of the audience or behind the scenes were the magic happens.
Theme Week – Through an Artist’s Eyes: August 12–16 AGES 6–8 (PRIMARY) and AGES 9–12 (INTERMEDIATE) 9:30–3:45 PM Explore your community through a visual arts lens. This week long program is focused on exploring a variety of visual arts mediums including drawing and painting, digital media, print making and sculpture. Students will work through the creative process and develop their skills under the guidance of Visual Arts instructors. Through field trips and guided walks, students will explore their community including the beach and the forest through the eyes of an artist. The week culminates in a multi-media art exhibition in South Surrey.
guidelines • Arts Umbrella programs can be an intensive learning experience. As there is no play-activity component to Arts Umbrella programs, it can be challenging for very young artists to participate for an entire day. Please consider your child’s needs and comfort level before registering for a full day of classes. • For Summer Programs: Children aged 3–4 years must have experience being in a classroom setting without a parent/guardian present. • Full day participants are responsible for their own, peanut-free lunches and snacks. • For safety reasons, participants require a basic understanding of the English language. • Information in this brochure is considered correct at time of printing, and may be subject to change. withdrawals, transfer & refund policies All withdrawal and transfer requests must be received in writing. Non-attendance or non-payment of outstanding fees does not constitute a formal withdrawal. Requests may be dropped off, faxed to 604.681.5272 or e-mailed to registration@artsumbrella.com. FEES AND DEADLINES • Withdrawals: A refund less $100 will be issued up to 2 weeks before the start of the program; after this time no refunds will be issued. • Transfers: A $50 fee applies to transfers ILLNESS OR INJURY A pro-rated refund may be issued outside of the above time guidelines if a written request is accompanied by a physician’s note. REMOVAL FOR CONDUCT Arts Umbrella reserves the right to remove any student who fails to comply with its rules and regulations or who engages in any activity deemed contrary to the fulfillment of Arts Umbrella’s objectives by the Director, Programming. In such an event, Arts Umbrella will be owed the fees for the complete program. Bursary recipients will be asked to reimburse the full value of any bursaries used towards their current registration.
