Logo encroachment

We are proud of our unique identity so our logo needs to stand out. When there are too many visual elements closely encroaching on the logo it loses its impact. A minimum distance is required between the logo and any other graphic element. As demonstrated to the right, the minimum space is defined by the height of the letter A in the logo. Maintaining this as the minimum distance from other graphic elements and the edge of the page will allow the logo to stand alone, uncluttered by other distracting elements. Two approved exceptions to this rule are in (1) the case of “signatures,” where the logo and school name are to form a single unit (see page 12) and (2) when the logo is accompanied by the university tagline (see page 9).

Note: This guideline accommodates most general applications and is designed to prevent unnecessary abuse or misuse of the logo. Discretion and good judgment should be used in all cases. In instances where uncertainty exists, Marketing and Communication should be contacted for clarification to help you ensure that you are not infringing on the legal trademark.
