Toomer’s Corner

Toomer’s Corner is where fans head to celebrate after a big Auburn athletics win. The rolling of Toomer’s Corner at Auburn was named as the nation’s “Best Sports Tradition” by the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest. The intersection of College Street and Magnolia Avenue is where Auburn’s campus and the city of Auburn meet. It’s also home to the famed Toomer’s Drugs, where the tradition of rolling the corner is said to have begun. The local drug store had the only telegraph in the city, so when employees received news of an Auburn victory at an away game, they would throw the ticker tape onto the powerlines of the intersection. The tradition then changed to throwing toilet paper into the trees. Pep rallies hosted by the Student Government Association and the city of Auburn are held at Toomer’s Corner during football season. Thousands of students, faculty and fans fill the downtown streets to cheer the Auburn Tigers.

War Eagle

War Eagle is both a salutation and a battle cry. It is not a mascot or nickname. “War Eagle” has become a way for the Auburn Family to greet and identify with each other all over the world. It can be heard before kickoff when Auburn fans join together for a loud “War Eagle!” as the eagle soars inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Tiger Trail

Tiger Trail is a series of plaques honoring Auburn’s greatest athletes, coaches and administrators, located on the sidewalks of downtown Auburn. A new class of honorees is inducted each year to this prestigious path, which includes more than 130 of Auburn’s athletic elite. An interactive map of the Tiger Trail can be found at webgis.auburnalabama.org/ TigerTrailViewer.

Aubie

Aubie is the mascot of the Auburn Tigers and is a 10-time national mascot winner. He is a spirit leader and goodwill ambassador for the university. With ten wins, he has won more UCA National Champion mascot titles than any other university mascot. Aubie was named the 2014 Capital One Mascot of the Year and was the first college mascot inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2006.

Tiger Walk

Tiger Walk is a tradition that began in the early 1960s. Two hours before kickoff of every home football game, thousands of Auburn fans line Donahue Drive to cheer on the team as they walk to Jordan-Hare Stadium. Tiger Walk is such a major part of gameday activities that it’s listed on the players’ gameday itinerary. Fans often carry on the tradition at away games and bowl games.
