in loving memory of
HUBERT RYAN AUCOIN MAY 31, 1977 – MAY 15, 2016
W
e will forever have with us the memory and legacy of Ryan Aucoin. He passed away on May 15, 2016 after a courageous two year battle with T-cell Lymphoma, an extremely rare blood cancer, and leukemia. He was 38 years old. Ryan was passionate about diamonds and jewelry, and his discerning eye was like no other. His dedication to beauty and craftsmanship impacted anyone who may have known him, and his legacy lives on through the people he touched and the pieces of jewelry he created. He loved the jewelry business and enjoyed celebrating great moments with people and making them happy. Outside of the family business, Ryan had many interests including art, poetry, music, and fine wine. He enjoyed playing guitar and piano for his little “Winston boy”. A fulfilled life for Ryan was one in which he was doing what he loved and doing it better than anyone else. Ryan’s life was honored with heartfelt outpourings of love and support from friends, colleagues, and customers alike. We thank all of you for acknowledging his legacy as not only a principal of Aucoin Hart Jewelers, but also as a person dedicated to his family. He was a loving husband and father and an essential part of the Aucoin family. Ryan’s passion and spirit will remain with us for generations to come and will inspire us every day.

If you take a tour in the historic areas of New Orleans it’s not very hard to find scroll motifs nestled in some of the ornamental iron work along the balconies, gateways into courtyards and on the facades of some of our historic buildings, reminiscent of early French architecture. These sapphire and diamond earrings emulate the historic art Nouveau style. Each earring is set with three sapphires, graduated in size and surrounded by diamonds, enveloping an 8.5mm pearl. It was designed and created in-house at Aucoin Hart Jewelers, by David White.

ehind every piece of jewelry made at Aucoin Hart Jewelers is a talented team of designers, master jewelers, stone setters, wax carvers, polishers and graduate gemologists, who are dedicated to making jewelry to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. This year, their talent has been recognized with three design awards. Aucoin Hart won three awards in the highly competitive Jewelers of Louisiana Custom Design Competition. A beautiful pair of sapphire and diamond earrings won first place in category two and a spectacular diamond and emerald ring was awarded two awards: first place in category 3 and the Best of Show. Although we are proud of our wins, we did not create these jewels especially for the competition. There is a great work of art in every box at Aucoin Hart Jewelers. Every piece of jewelry we make is crafted with the same attention to detail as the work that went into creating these award-winning pieces. By strictly controlling each step of our jewelry manufacturing process, from design, model making and casting to finishing, we are able to offer exceptionally fine crafted jewelry at extraordinary values.

David Yurman’s new Chatelaine collection is a beautiful combination of simplicity and complexity. The Chatelaine collection exalts the stone. The central element of each piece is a finely cut colored gemstone that takes center stage as a solitaire gem. Each is cut in a fancy checkerboard, which places facets on the top of the gem for maximum light reflection and high color saturation. It is interpreted in a variety of gem colors, including citrine, blue topaz, amethyst, quartz, and peridot. The

marco bicego 5 QUESTIONS WITH
Multiple strand 18k gold and diamond necklace from the Masai collection.
1. Your designs are famous for their intricate goldsmithing. Why do you love working with the surface of the gold?
Marco Bicego: Gold has always been my medium of choice; it’s the hallmark of my brand and my personal heritage. Having spent every summer at my father’s goldsmithing atelier in Vicenza, the gold capital of the world, I learned my art under master craftsmen. Gold has been a cornerstone of my craft ever since. It’s a great metal to manipulate by hand, using the ageless Bulino technique, which creates hundreds of textured grooves on the surface and remains practically unalterable over time. My approach to gold blends old world Italian craftsmanship with my contemporary vision and artistry, making each piece unique and perfectly imperfect.

2. You have recently added more color to your collections. How do you combine color and gold in a way that is unique to your collections? MB: Our combination of color and gold is distinct

colors set against them. The liquid-like texture of the gold allows the colors to interact with it in a way that is unique and signature to the brand. The brand’s core collections are always being expanded, which includes adding vibrant colors with semi-precious gemstones. Many of our collections are customer favorites, so we design the extensions as the logical evolution of them. 3. What is inspiring you right now?
MB: I’m always greatly inspired by my travels, seeing exotic places and encountering wonderful cultures. My most recent inspiration has been the African Masai tribe. They are an ethnic group of semi-nomadic people who inhabit southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They wear these beautiful, intricately beaded and woven necklaces that are multi-layered and elegantly fall against their body. I was so amazed by the artistry and craftsmanship of them that I named my most recent collection Masai. The pieces are made of hand-coiled strands of 18k yellow and white gold that are gracefully layered together and feature pronounced stations of diamonds. They similarly adapt to the body’s natural shape and are ideal for mixing and stacking, or wearing as a bold, stand-alone piece.

4. If you could give women one piece of advice about jewelry, what would it be? MB: Don’t be afraid to layer! Wearing a great statement piece is always a
striking option, but adding a stacking bracelet or necklace can transform your look completely. All of my pieces are meant to be layered and worn together in different combinations, so I say mix and match to find what works and have fun with it!

5. What do you like to do when you’re not designing jewelry? MB: I absolutely love cooking. Growing up in Italy, I had access to fresh
ingredients, and my mother was always in the kitchen. As a child, I would watch her and try to interpret her recipes as my own. I now have a wonderful list of recipes that I can pass down to my children and share with friends when I’m entertaining.

A
century ago, Mikimoto established its first black cultured pearl farm on Okinawa Island. Since
then, the brand remains the authority in the highest quality black South Sea cultured pearl. It was Kokichi Mikimoto, with a wish to “adorn the necks of all women of the world with pearls” and the
scientific mind to develop a technique for cultivating them, who changed history. He made the coveted gem available to fashionable women everywhere, and his technique, first discovered in 1893, is still in use today. Innovation is always at the heart of Mikimoto, as rare stones and precious metals — and, of course, pearls — combine to create contemporary classics. Mikimoto’s earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces incorporate Akoya, as well as natural black, white, golden, multi-color, or baroque South Sea cultured pearls, offering a varied palette. Classic to contemporary, everyday essentials to evening or bridal wear, each piece is a flawless example of the company’s design aesthetic. Eighteen-karat white, yellow, and rose gold or platinum are used exclusively for clasps and other adornments, while the finest silk thread strings the strands.

nniversary A MILESTONES Celebrating each year together with jewelry
There is no gift that can capture moments, milestones, and meanings in our lives quite like jewelry. For couples, the journey that began with the
exchange of iconic wedding rings can be retold and celebrated with each passing year together in personal gifts of fine jewelry.
The sky’s the limit when it comes to anniversary

jewelry. It can be diamonds every year, your favorite color or birthstone, lustrous pearls, or classic gold and silver pieces. The choices are as unique as the couples making them. But there are precious gems and metals that have come to signify special anniversaries and might be a part of your perfect gift.
diamond
Round, baguette and princess cut diamond ring set in 18k white gold. $6,850
Diamond, which signifies forever, is the gemstone suggested for anniversaries number 10 and 60. The name is derived from the Latin diamas meaning unconquerable, and this gemstone has maintained its position throughout history as a perfect icon for everlasting love and marriage. Diamond is believed to inspire loyalty, romance, and a joyful life. Chosen by most first brides to seal the deal, diamond offers many ways to celebrate each year together — from studs and solitaire pendants to stackable bands and bracelets. Especially popular are two-stone diamond ring designs and three-stone styles with white center and gemstone sides. The great thing about diamond is there are many colors to choose from, with yellow, champagne, and brown being especially popular right now.
sapphire Sapphire is suggested for anniversaries numbers 5 and 45. This gemstone has historically signified truth and promises, perfect sentiments for any marriage. Next to diamond, sapphire is a favorite wedding gem, inspiring sincerity, peace and joy. The most popular anniversary gift in sapphire has been stackable bands. And the great thing about sapphire is that it comes in several colors, with blue, yellow and pink to choose from. Other iconic designs include bold sapphire rings and three-stone styles with diamonds, as well as different earring treatments and bracelets, sometimes in ombrĂŠ or mixed color patterns.

Ruby symbolizes the power of attraction and long-lasting love. It is the top suggestion for anniversaries number 15 and 40. This fiery red gem — the color of the heart — has always been associated with deep love. Stackable bands set with ruby and white diamonds are popular, as are bold cocktail rings and three-stone styles. It doesn’t have to be a ring, though. Drop earrings, ear climbers, and line bracelets set with ruby also make a statement of love.

Pearl, which is suggested for anniversaries number 3 and 30, has a long history as a wedding gem, dating back to the early Hindus when Krishna gave his daughter a pearl on her wedding day. A symbol of romance and devotion, pearl’s love attraction was thought to be so strong that Cleopatra dissolved a pearl in wine and swallowed it to seduce Mark Antony. Pearls offer lots of options, from classic Akoya to bold South Sea to colorful, shapely freshwater varieties. Popular gifts include long pearl strands and necklaces that mix pearls with chain and other gems, as well as bespoke designs in drop earrings and standout rings.

A CLASSIC REVISITED AND NEW CALIBERS FOR MEN’S AND LADIES’ DATEJUST
R
olex has long been one of the world’s most recognizable brands, but it has never rested on its laurels. Over the years, the company has earned its status by continually improving the quality of its watches. In the process, it has become
fully integrated: Rolex refines its own proprietary gold and steel alloys, used to make cases and bracelets; it makes its own dials, including hands and markers, and its bezels, including a proprietary ceramic material called cerachrom; it does all gemsetting on the premises; and it makes every component of its own mechanical movements, including hairsprings and balances wheels, which comprise the escapement, the heart of a mechanical timepiece. This year, Rolex introduces a renewed historic watch, the Air-King, and refits one of its most important models — the Datejust for ladies and men — with new, nextgeneration movements.
The new Oyster Perpetual Air-King honors the aeronautical heritage of the original model introduced in the 1950s. The 40 mm case is made of a solid block of corrosion-resistant 904L steel. The aeronautical-style dial combines large 3, 6, and 9 numerals with a prominent 60-minute index for navigational time readings. The dial carries the Air-King logo in the same lettering that was designed specially for the model of the 1950s and constitutes the only application

The iconic Datejust 41 is now equipped with a new, next-generation Rolex movement, the Caliber 3235. It is backed by 14 patents which cover the brand’s new standards of performance, relating to precision, power reserve, reliability, resistance to shocks and magnetism, and the ease and convenience of the movement’s adjustment. More than 90% of the movement’s components have been redesigned and optimized. It incorporates the super-efficient Chronergy escapement developed by Rolex and has an impressive power reserve of approximately 70 hours, which means the watch will run over an entire weekend without having to be rewound. The new Datejust 41 is offered in yellow or Everose Rolesor versions — combining 904L steel and either 18k yellow or Everose gold — with a wide selection of dials. Rolex has also updated the caliber and case of the Oyster Perpetual LadyDatejust 28. Caliber 2236 is fitted with the Syloxi hairspring in silicon, patented by Rolex. It significantly improves the regularity of the oscillator and the precision of the watch. It is insensitive to magnetic fields and maintains thermal stability despite temperature variations. It also remains up to 10 times more accurate than a traditional hairspring in the face of the thousands of knocks a wristwatch receives on a daily basis. The new Lady-Datejust models have been enlarged to 28 mm (they were previously 26 mm), in either yellow or Everose Rolesor versions, combining 904L steel and 18k yellow or Everose gold.
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual LadyDatejust 28 has a new movement, the Caliber 2236.
All Rolex movements are now covered by the company’s rigorous in-house quality test. Superlative Chronometer certification applies to each fully assembled watch with the movement encased, representing a guarantee of superlative performance on the wrist in terms of precision, power reserve, water-proofness, and the selfwinding function. A watch tested to Superlative Chronometer standards after casing is accurate to between −2 and +2 seconds per day — more than twice the industry standard for an official

Colored gemstones are a powerful force in fine jewelry
The bold use of color in fine jewelry has now become mainstream, and it is the driving force behind a design renaissance in jewelry. From malachite and lemon quartz to the finest rubies and emeralds, jewelry designers have been finding new ways to invent jewelry with colored gemstones in every price range. The adventurous mixing of colors has never been more prominent. Although all gems are popular, there is a trend toward pastels, particularly pale pink and blue gems, such as rose quartz, chalcedony and aquamarine. The trend is partly a reflection of the two Pantone colors of the year: rose quartz and serenity blue. But pastel gems of all hues are popular, including everything from lilac sapphire to blue moonstone. There are also plenty of opaque gems and mineral gems, such as malachite and onyx, to add color to jewelry.

Among the design trends are horizontal bar necklaces, a look that can be either simple or bold. Reflecting the rectangular silhouette of horizontal bar necklaces is a trend in rings to vertical rectangles, with baguettes arranged in the north/south position. The look is geometric, a bit Art Deco, but also very modern, simple and accessible. Mismatched earrings are another strong trend that is best expressed using colored gemstones. Mixing gemstone shapes and colors in earrings that are similar but not the same is extremely dramatic. And stackable rings are still strong, presenting another opportunity to mix gemstones. Emerging trends include “in-orbit” or caged rings and earrings,

consisting of a center gemstone or earring drop surrounded by arcs of gold set with diamonds or, with earrings, tiny link chains or hanging rows of diamonds that leave the color peeking through. Doubles is another emerging trend — not to be confused with doublets, which are stacked one gem on top of the other. Doubles are identical gems in slightly different shapes or hues, arranged side by side. Statement necklaces are both classic and trendy. Collars and chokers are a big part of the current look, but no matter the shape or style — from V-necks to Y-shapes — the concept is best expressed using bold color.

seven
A fine jewelry wardrobe should last a lifetime — longer than the clothes in your closet — and curating it deserves as much attention as your fashion wardrobe. Building a jewelry collection takes time, but the fun begins with these seven essentials. They are the foundation upon which you can build your signature look. They are the starting point for mixing and matching, and adding more colors, layers, and volume. Don’t be afraid to mix expensive pieces with inexpensive ones, but always go for quality with the basics.
1. Classic ear studs
Diamond ear studs never get old. They will take you from the gym to a job interview and never look out of place. That said, ear studs don’t have to be set with diamonds. Try sapphire stud earrings surrounded by diamonds. Or
peridots, or pearls. Nor do they have to be round. Oval and square cuts are now recognized as contemporary classics.

2. Stackables and layers Just as a fashion wardrobe of basics can change from day to day, so can your basic jewelry wardrobe thanks to the art of stacking and layering. Combining several small pieces in new ways allows you to change your jewelry wardrobe from one day to the next. Be creative with your everyday bling by mixing metals, colors, styles, and sizes. With rings, look for east-west settings that make them easy to stack. With bracelets, quality is especially important, since they will be happily jangling against each other all day. Buy pieces made of precious metals, with secure settings and attachments that are well secured.

3. Drop earrings Earrings are the most important element of a jewelry wardrobe. People tend to look at your face first, and earrings frame your face and help create a polished first impression. Many women say they feel naked without a pair of earrings. Drop earrings are useful for their versatility. They can add a pop of color next to your face — let a pair of beautiful blue sapphire earrings bring out the blue in your eyes — or they can be classic and neutral, adding just the right amount of sparkle and movement.

personal style. A great cocktail ring can be the one factor that pulls a look together, adding volume, color, and bold contrast. Most cocktail rings are set with one large, colored gemstone in the center surrounded by smaller gems. The presence of multiple gems gives you a chance to create unexpected color combinations, allowing you to show your creative side.

5. A classic watch If you have already invested in a tailored blazer, a good handbag and diamond stud earrings, then you understand the value of classics. Now it is time to add a grownup watch to your wardrobe. It should be a high-quality timepiece, with a good mechanical movement, a sturdy bracelet or strap and a strong case made of gold, steel, ceramic, or titanium. A classic timepiece should be a clean and simple hallmark of good taste. Design codes include needle thin markers, slim profiles, neutral dial colors, and basic functions: hours, minutes, and seconds.

6. Cuff bracelet The cuff can make or break any outfit. If everyone in the room is wearing jeans and a t-shirt, you will be wearing the most glamorous jeans and t-shirt when complemented by an outstanding cuff bracelet. The cuff is powerful, strong, and bulky — made for the Wonder Woman in us all. It can be paired with a stack of bangles for an even bolder or dressed up look, or set with gemstones — but make sure the settings are snug and the workmanship is Striking round diamond cuff bracelet in 18k white gold. $10,650

the ultimate expression of your personality. A great necklace has the power to turn a pretty outfit into a party outfit, or to add a pop of color to a classic, neutral ensemble. That said, you don’t need a big necklace to make a statement. A simple necklace can be layered with others to turn the volume up or add color. It still makes a statement because it is your signature piece, something you proudly wear for special moments.

IN THE DETAILS
Penny Preville’s delicate, accessible pieces reveal a special artistry
Star Dust pendant with 0.57 tcw of diamonds.
P
enny Preville has been designing fine jewelry for over 30 years, and each collection reveals as much about the artist as it does about her art. “I am influenced by fashion and culture,” says the awardwinning designer, “but I also believe in continuity. A designer should remain true to her style.” That style is characteristically both elegant and accessible. Penny Preville’s designs are delicate and subtle, yet brimming with details that make her pieces unlike any other designer’s. The latest collection, Star Dust, is evidence of the subtle genius of her designs. The round and fancy-cut diamonds in the Star Dust hoop earrings are set not in neat, straight rows the way they are on most hoop earrings, but are off-centered in a way that makes them interesting and original. The open tear drop earrings in the same collection likewise feature stations of off-set round and fancy-cut diamonds in just the right places. The bar necklace is a mix of sizes in random (or what seem random but which are very carefully positioned) settings. In the subtly sexy Y-necklace, the diamonds cluster near the top of the Y, from which drops a long, luxurious, sensual chain, with three diamonds in a marquisshaped setting dropping into the cleavage. “I’m inspired by the world around me,” says Penny. “I study past and present cultures and ancient civilizations, along with nature, the arts, and fashion. I romance these elements, making them feel fresh for a contemporary woman.”

bar necklaces Fashionable 14k yellow gold high polished bar necklace. $520
One of the most versatile gold design trends at the moment is the horizontal bar necklace, a look that can be simple and elegant or bold and gem-set. The trend is strongest in necklaces, but even rings are taking a page from the horizontal bar silhouettes, with bars of gold arranged in the north/south position. The look is geometric and modern, and at the same time, simple and accessible.
stacking
A particular favorite of Instagram-savvy jewelry lovers, ring stacking has been big for the past few years and shows no signs of fading anytime soon. It’s no wonder, when the technique lets you combine individual pieces into an infinite number of different looks, from the streamlined to the positively decadent. This versatile trend is too fun to miss; it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Beautiful diamond stack bangle bracelets set in 18k yellow gold starting at $3,575

mixed metals
You know that rule about only ever wearing one color of metal at the same time? Forget you ever heard it. Buttery yellow, bright white, and rosy pink golds are beautiful together, and it’s long past time we break free of the advice that says embracing metal mixtures is a faux pas. Some designers are even creating pieces that mix metals in one piece of jewelry, to glorious effect. Let your differently colored golds play together; see what beautiful combinations you can find.

What’s more beautiful than the art of Mother Nature herself? The earth is where gold comes from, after all. The inherent appeal of organically inspired pieces — as if formed in a coral reef or inspired by a natural motif such as a leaf or a feather — is universal.
wearing what you love If you take away anything from these ready-to-rock gold trends, let it be this: today’s tastemakers are smashing through one hard-and-fast style guideline after another. If you find yourself wanting to wear your favorite gold jewelry in a way that feels like it might be against the rules, don’t let that stop you. Personal style is the most powerful of all; if something rings true to you, don’t hesitate to embrace it.

Forevermark’s 2015 survey of women’s diamond jewelry acquisition in the United States revealed that demand for diamond engagement rings is at a 50/50 split between round and fancy shapes. Today’s bride desires a ring that is unique and expresses her own individual style. Idealcut fancy shaped diamonds are extremely rare, and any wearer of a Forevermark Black Label diamond can feel assured that she has a ring that is as unique as her love. Each Black Label diamond is accompanied by a grading report with technical images of the shape and verifying the perfect proportions, polish and symmetry of the diamond, including a Black Label cut grade for fancy shapes, a first in the diamond industry. Previously, only round shapes received a cut grade.

Finding the perfect engagement ring
IDEA
s your love grows and marriage is on the horizon, engagement rings are imagined, designed, or discovered. Though the sea of rings is infinite, one will inevitably
stand out above all the others and become “the one.” Here are some engagement ring fashions that have continued to resonate over time. Stacking fashion rings aren’t new, but in the bridal space it’s a trend that has gained momentum. A beautiful engagement ring begins the journey of this stacked look. When searching for an engagement ring, consider a classic solitaire in a shape you desire. Alternatively, a sparkling halo with a gorgeous pavé band is eye-catching as well as timeless. Or harken to times past

Some couples are opting to buy antique engagement rings. This earth-friendly trend combines environmental sensitivity with the popularity of vintage styles. Alternatively, you can select a trendy vintage stone, such as a rose cut or old mine cut diamond, and feature it in a new setting of your choice. What is old becomes new again! A fun look that has been popping up recently is the two-stone ring. Most designers have incorporated at least one of these designs in their engagement ring collections. This ring features two diamonds that are usually the same size and shape. What is the significance of a two-stone engagement ring, you ask? One stone represents your true love and the other represents your best friend. It’s a fun and lovely way to remember why you chose the

Many of today’s designers are taking advantage of laser-cutting technology to enhance engagement rings. These rings appear to be one large diamond, but don’t let the look fool you! These diamond cluster rings are actually smaller diamonds that are precision cut to fit together perfectly to give the illusion of one large stone. These cluster rings are available in most stone shapes and are very difficult to discern from the classic single-stone engagement ring. Therefore, consider this style if you want extreme brilliance at a lower cost than a traditional ring.
Look around and find the ring that speaks to you. After all, you’ve already fallen in love with your partner, why shouldn’t you fall in love with a ring that reflects and symbolizes that love?

TUDOR
continues to build a fan base among watch lovers with its collection of Heritage Black Bay timepieces. TUDOR’s
new Heritage Black Bay is a tribute to the original model, the TUDOR Submariner, first launched in 1954 and used by divers in the French navy. The new model retains stylistic elements of the original, including its domed dial, imposing winding crown (introduced on a 1958 model), and angular hands — dubbed “snowflakes” by collectors (seen on the models issued from 1969 to the early 1980s). The dial is matte black, with silver-colored luminescent hands; the bezel and crown tube are midnight blue. Tudor’s Black Bay Black is one of the latest models in the brand’s iconic collection. The deep brown dial and the distinctive angular “snowflake” hands of the Black Bay Black, outlined in 18k pink gold, are elegant details that recall the aged, vintage Submariners of TUDOR’s rich past. It is water resistant to 200 meters and contains the automatic Tudor Caliber 2824, with a 38-hour power reserve. The large screw-down winding crown is steel, engraved with the Tudor rose, with a black anodized aluminum crown tube. On other models, this crown tube is red or blue; making it black gives the watch a whole new, streamlined look. The red triangle at 12 o’clock on the bezel is an element common to vintage
Tudor dive watches of the late 1950s. It is waterproof to 200 meters.

O
the perfect engagement ring begins the journey, and then comes the dress, venue,
and, of course, the most exciting honeymoon trip ever. But there’s one more item that men must consider: selecting your wedding band. Today, the choices are vast; do your research and take the time to find the right ring for you.
Before you start looking, you need to do some homework to help you determine the right band for you. What kind of lifestyle do you live? Is it active? Do you work with your hands? What is your metal preference? Is there a particular color of metal you like to wear? Do you want a traditional precious metal such as gold or platinum? Or something contemporary, like titanium? Do you want your ring to match your watch? Do you want to match your band with your bride’s band or a band that complements hers? Finally, what is your budget? Considering these questions should help you to narrow down the field of options. Here are some other thoughts to keep in mind when selecting your band.
First, let’s have a quick review of materials. Platinum and gold are the most popular and classic metals. They wear well and last a lifetime. Alternative metals, such as palladium, titanium, cobalt, and tungsten carbide, are very chic, strong, and durable. They can also cost less, giving you money to spend in other places. So think about the look, feel, and budget when selecting your metal.

wedding planner When it comes to style, the choices are endless. The most important feature of any ring is comfort. Luckily for the groom, most rings are made with a comfort-fit. This means that the inside of the ring is curved; therefore, the ring is easy to put on and take off the finger, as well as giving it a comfortable fit when worn. Also think about wearing a slightly tapered wedding band if you have a special design or stones you want featured. This shape will help the featured design of the ring stay upright on your finger when worn. Another feature of a band is its width. Bands are listed in terms of millimeters — the lower the number, the thinner the band. Think about how wide a ring you want to wear. Width affects your comfort as well as the statement you want to make. Style is the first thing that usually comes to mind when you’re ready to start looking for a ring. The classic flat gold band never goes out of style. Try adding some engraving, milgrain work, or even a cool beveled edge. A gorgeous braided band or one that combines different colored metals will surely stand out. Also, don’t think that diamonds are just for women. More and more, men want to dress up their look as well. Think about adding sapphires or diamonds to your ring. Although white diamonds are beautiful, consider adding a few black, grey, cognac, or even rough diamonds. This will give your ring a unique look that others will envy. Don’t worry about wearability when it comes to stones; they are usually flush set on the ring to prevent them from getting in the way or caught on anything. Whatever style or design you choose to add to your ring, it will be a symbolic reminder of the unique love you share. For many men, a wedding band will be the first piece of jewelry you will wear. This ring signifies your union and will be with you on your long journey of life together. Choose wisely and take the time to consider what is most important to you; it will be time well spent. And who knows, perhaps this wedding band may be the piece you give to your grandson when he finds his perfect partner — just like you did.
