WELCOME! Since opening our doors 35 years ago, The Kentucky Center has continued in its mission to build lifelong relationships with the arts. Presenting artists from all over the world, cultivating artists here at home and helping create experiences that inspire, educate and entertain. Originally, The Kentucky Center’s performance spaces were solely inside the Main Street building. Over time, we expanded and began bringing performances to the venerable Brown Theatre on Broadway and other local venues, including Iroquois Amphitheater. This summer, we will add a new stage to our family of venues with the opening of Old Forester’s Paristown Hall. The 2,000 person standing room venue in Louisville’s historic Paristown Pointe neighborhood will create a new entertainment destination for national touring bands, as well as a home for collaborative projects, new works and nontraditional performance experiences by the region’s arts and cultural community. There will be a lot of new information about the new venue in the coming months, so I encourage you to follow The Kentucky Center on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and join our free e-club at kentuckycenter.org, to make sure you receive updates. While we are excitedly counting the days until the opening of our new venue, both The Kentucky Center and Brown Theatre continue to provide exciting entertainment experiences for all. In addition to the performances featured in this book, we are thrilled to welcome a number of local premieres including the PNC Broadway in Louisville’s production of On Your Feet!, local theater companies Looking for Lillith and Teatro Tercera Llamada’s co-production of Just Like Us/Justo como nosotros, performing in the MeX Theater, Louisville Orchestra paying tribute to The Music of Queen, Louisville Ballet bringing the storybook classic Cinderella to life on stage, StageOne Family Theatre’s telling of The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and The Kentucky Center’s ArtsReach program’s celebration of dance, spoken word, fashion, instrumental music and song entitled I Am/We Are. Thank you for being here tonight and for your continued support. This is a very exciting time for live entertainment in our community and we look forward to continuing this journey together. Enjoy the show.

liza is one of today’s leading comedians with a fan base who show their loyalty by creating their own Ilizainspired swag to wear to her shows. Last year she hosted her late night limited run talk show, Truth & Iliza, on Freeform. In November 2017, she released her first book, Girl Logic: The Genius and the Absurdity (Hachette Book Group), a subversively funny collection of essays and observations on a confident woman’s approach to friendship, singlehood and relationships. Iliza just premiered Elder Millennial, her fourth Netflix stand-up special for the streaming service. The campaign 20
featured her styled in classic looks from the late ’90s/early ’00s, as well as an official Spotify playlist featuring all her favorite songs of the era. The list has become a highlight with fans who are giving it high praise on social media, while artists of the era (New Found Glory, 311 and Lance Bass) are reposting it. In addition to her stand up, she recently played the role of “October” in Paramount Pictures movie Instant Family, starring Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne. Originally from Dallas, Iliza moved to Los Angeles after graduating from Emerson College. She is the only female
A U D I E N C E
and youngest comedian to hold the title of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Her debut comedy special, War Paint, was acquired by Netflix and was named one of its Top 10 albums of 2013. Iliza’s followup Netflix specials, Freezing Hot and Confirmed Kills, sealed her title as one of the hottest touring acts in America, with Esquire Magazine listing her as one of the top working comedians today. Iliza’s stand-up credentials also include headlining the coveted Montreal Just For Laughs Festival and The New York Comedy Festival. As a national headliner, Iliza’s tours year-round selling out theatres, clubs and colleges. She also participated in the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s personal USO Tour
throughout the Middle East and Europe, as well as Al Roker’s Today Show USO Tour in Afghanistan, with Jay Leno and Craig Robinson. Iliza’s been featured in Elle’s “Women in Comedy” issue two years in a row and her television credits include multiple appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Today Show. Additionally, her digital scripted series, Forever 31, is currently streaming on Hulu. Iliza lives in Los Angeles, where she spends time making up songs and nicknames for her dog Blanche. Puddles Pity Party Friday, March 15, 2019 • 8 p.m. • The Kentucky Center, Bomhard Theater The “Sad Clown with the Golden Voice” is here with his heartfelt anthems and a suitcase full of Kleenex! This Pity Party is not all sadness and longing. The show is peppered with a brilliant sense of the absurd, mixing lots of humor with the awkward, tender moments. A veritable “Pagliacci by way of Pee-Wee Herman and David Lynch” (The Atlanta Journal Constitution), Puddles Pity Party has 286,000 fans on Facebook and more than 76,000,000 views on YouTube for indelible interpretations of classics by ABBA, Bowie, Cheap Trick and Queen and his unforgettable mash-up of “Pinball Wizard/Folsom Prison Blues.” You may recognize him from his recent appearances on NBC’s America’s Got Talent and video collaborations with Postmodern Jukebox. Puddles has toured extensively in the U.S. at legendary venues like the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, the Kennedy Center in D.C. and the Troubadour in Los Angeles. He has also performed many times in the UK at Soho Theatre London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Other worldwide festival appearances include the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Perth Fringe World, Melbourne International Comedy Fest, Just for Laughs Montreal, Belgium’s Gent Festival, Festival Supreme (LA), Bumbershoot Festival (Seattle), Moontower Comedy Festival (Austin) and Bethlehem’s MusikFest. 22
“It seems like a parody. But when Puddles opens his mouth to sing, it’s beautiful. Operatic.” ~ The Boston Globe “Fantastically brilliant…originality at its best.” ~ Simon Cowell “His special effect is a textured voice laced with melancholy…what makes him transcend the trope is his vulnerability.” ~ The New York Times “Clever and often hysterically funny… (Puddles) is ideally suited to songs popularized by belters old and new like Tom Jones, Sia and Celine Dion, all of which he performs with tear-jerking bravura….” ~ LA Weekly
