This year marks a major milestone for Kentucky Performing Arts. We are celebrating our 40th Anniversary. 40 years of creating joy and inspiration. 40 years of connecting millions of people to artists, and to each other, through shared experiences. 40 years of bringing innovative performances to our stages.

Our Ruby Anniversary is the perfect time to envision our future. As a non-profit community organization and arts leader, KPA must always evolve to meet the changing needs of the people we serve. We have spent the past year gathering information from our audiences, local and national touring artists, partner arts organizations, staff, volunteers, and board to create a new strategic plan to ensure KPA serves everyone who interacts with our spaces. A plan that bolsters our ongoing commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility where every community member, artist, student, employee, and patron feels welcomed and respected.

Kentucky Performing Arts has developed a new mission statement: to connect and inspire through the arts. We have created goals focused on expanding the range of our programming; making KPA’s spaces more accessible and inclusive to all; and sharing our story to show how people and art connect to form community.

We thank you for joining us this evening. You make up the community that is Kentucky Performing Arts, and we will continue creating experiences that awaken the shared humanity, empathy, and limitless creativity in everyone.

Enjoy the performance and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

EDDIE B’S TEACHERS ONLY COMEDY TOUR ‘23

Saturday, August 12, 2023 | 8:00pm | Brown Theatre

Eddie B soared to new heights by creating his own opportunity starting with his series of comical videos titled "What Teachers Really Want to Say." In a matter of hours, those videos sparked the attention of educators all over the country when they realized

that they were not alone and finally had someone to joke about the things they were reluctant to say out loud.

Shortly after, Eddie decided to take his videos to the stage selling out comedy clubs, theaters, and arenas with his

A U D I E N C E 6

Teachers Only Comedy Tour in 20172018 and the I’m Already Professionally Developed Tour in 2019- 2020. When the worldwide pandemic made it impossible for Eddie to see his fans in person he began performing his "Teachers Only" comedy virtually! Now that things are getting back to normal Eddie B is ready to give educators more of his unfiltered comedy!

Eddie B has established himself as the official voice of teachers across the globe. Educators from America to Africa, Dallas to Dubai, New York to New Delhi (and beyond) are getting a lesson in the funniest ways to express their worst frustrations and they are loving every second of Eddie B’s uncensored, raw, and hysterically realistic portrayal of a teacher’s hectic life, from the point of view of an actual teacher!

LEANNE MORGAN

Saturday, August 12, 2023: 4:00pm & 7:00pm •

Sunday, August 13, 2023: 5:00pm The Kentucky Center-Whitney Hall

After discovering her passion for stand-up comedy later in life and finding the time and confidence to pursue her dream, Leanne Morgan has cemented herself as a must-watch comedian.

Leanne was feeling the lure of Hollywood after graduating high school, yet the idea

of moving there was unheard of and too daunting for a country girl who had never been away from home. She enrolled in college at The University of Tennessee, where she graduated (by the skin of her teeth) with a degree in Child and Family Studies.

A U D I E N C E 8

Shortly after, she married her husband, Chuck, and they moved to Bean Station, Tennessee located in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

To stay busy after having her first baby, Morgan started selling jewelry at home parties. She was supposed to talk about the jewelry but instead conversed about breastfeeding, hemorrhoids and being a mama. The party guests thought that she was hilarious, and before she knew it, she was booked a year in-advance.

The jewelry company saw what was happening and asked her to speak at their sales rallies. It was there that women started saying, “you need to do stand-up!” That gave Morgan the courage to really go for it! She finally had access to comedy clubs when her family moved to San Antonio in 2001, and her career in comedy quickly officially got underway.

Morgan’s comedy has landed her at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and has brought her development deals for her own sitcom with ABC and Warner Brothers, writer/ producer Matt Williams (Rosanne and Home Improvement), TV Land and with Sony Television.

Morgan has garnered over 2.5M followers across social media and her popular online stand-up special, So Yummy, has reached over 50M views on YouTube. Her fan base continues to grow with her relatability as she discusses everything from being a housewife, sharing Jell-O recipes to having a new grandbaby. Morgan has appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, The View, and Nick at Nite’s Funniest Mom.

Now that her children are grown, Morgan is moving full steam ahead with a career rooted in her everyday comedy.

In December 2022, she concluded The Big Panty Tour with Outback Presents which spanned 100+ shows in theaters across the U.S. She also taped her first Netflix standup special that premiered on the platform on April 11, 2023. Morgan is back on the road with her next 100+ show Just Getting Started theater and arena tour with Outback Presents. Her first book, What in the World?, is set to be published by Random House/Convergent, in August 2024.

When not on the road, Leanne cherishes spending time in Knoxville, Tennessee, with her husband, three children, grandbaby, and two beagles.
