The management of telecommunications’ network resources and services offers FCAPS management based on industry-leading technology and standards, which helps to overcome the operational complexities and to preserve accurate data about the network and services. It includes the following:

Performance Management covers performance-data collection and data storage, enables short- and long-term analyses with real-time observation and reporting. It generates technical and executive reports, the mediation of quality-of-service measurements and trend analyses.

Fault Management is responsible for the central alarm surveillance and alarm handling in a multi-user environment. It enables hierarchically structured views of the managed network and contains a graphical presentation of the statuses of the network elements.

Security Management ensures centralized multi-level user and group administration and secures access to the management functionalities.

Configuration Management enables operators to manage existing subscriber services and effectively introduce new services on a daily basis. The service provisioning and assurance functions are accessible through open interfaces from the external OSS/BSS systems. Accounting Management deals with tariffdata administration and collection based on standard technologies. Collected tariff data is offered to external billing systems.

The auto-configuration server (ACS) complements the mass operations and openness of FCAPS with: • Automatic registration and roll out of new network elements, • Faster remote network-element replacements, • Centralized and simplified mass upgrades. Auto-configuration minimizes the need for human intervention and significantly reduces operational costs, especially for the network elements located on difficultto-access wide geographic areas.

FOR MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY AND MINIMIZED OPERATIONAL COSTS.

Building Customized Management Solutions A Move to IMS

• Network-wide operation enables seamless access to management functionalities, overcoming the physical location of the actual subscribers and other resources. With the mass provisioning of services, the operator applies actions across multiple network elements. • A graphically rich working environment with integrated views of the network and services and unified access to all the network elements. • Efficient rollout and upgrades through a preintegration with the Auto Configuration Server (ACS) that utilizes TR-069 operations or an equivalent functionality. • A role-based security policy for authentication and authorization, using a single sign-on property.

• The northbound connectivity provides integration with Operations and Business Support Systems (OSS/ BSS), allowing a tight integration into the customer business environment. • Extensible solution architecture for the incorporation of third-party network elements through southbound interfaces provides the central network management. • Scalability enables adaptation to the size of user’s network and budget needs on the pay-as-you-grow principle. Flexible software modules allow operators to choose between cost-effective hardware platforms to manage small networks with a few network elements and a distributed installation in a multi-blade-server architecture for high-end solutions. • Various levels of reliability are ensured. Cluster operation, including geo-redundant cluster, is available for environments with the highest availability demands.
