• Which is the correct ayan m a?

Birth Data: 31 December 1962 1830 IST at 28N39, 77E13 • Moon 313024’ as per Citrapaksa is said to be in Mrtyubh ga. Mrtyubh ga of Moon in Kumbha r i is 5th degree i.e., 04000’ to 04060’, as per classical meaning. (5th degree MB may be checked for any error or alternate readings in texts).

• Here the Moon is actually in the 13th degree in M l dh ra Cakra and 14th and 15th degree for Citrapaksa and Raman and so the example and identified impact of MB is wrong.

2. Finer Techniques of Astrological Prediction – Volume I, page 106 • Example 1 of date 16 February 1976: Jupiter M na 28015’ [29th degree] and Sun Kumbha 03022’[4th degree] are said to be in Mrtyubh ga. Mrtyubh ga of Jupiter is 28th degree of M na and of Sun is 3rd degree of Kumbha.

• Sri Rao’s example therefore attests the truth of Muladhara Chakra and the ayanamsa derived by Chandra Hari 3. Example 5 given on page 114: Data is 19 April 1947, 2015 IST • Citrapaksa ani of Kataka:09002’ is in the tenth degree and out of mrtyubh ga.

The true sidereal value 98019’ falls in mrtyubh ga provided people have a scientific astronomical meaning of the reference to degrees in classical works.

4. Example 6 on page 115: Data is Moon: 11041’ of M na and Venus 28033’ of Kumbha • True sidereal values of both are not in mrtyubh ga. No event that justifies

the fall of above longitudes in mrtyubh ga is available in the accompanying discussion.

5. Example 7 given on page 116 does not warrant Moon’s placement in Mrtyubh ga.

True sidereal Moon is 40036’ and is in the 11th degree. Vim ottari places the ill health of child beginning in S rya bhukti [S rya occupying the fifth house in R i and eighth lord of Sapt m a] rather than Chandra. Sapt m a is heavily afflicted by the placement of Sun, Saturn and ikhi respectively in the sixth, seventh and eighth houses from Lagna and Moon.

6. Example 8 of page 117: Citrapaksa Sun is in the 9th degree and hence out of mrtyubh ga. True sidereal values are Ravi: 127057’[8th degree of Simha] and Guru: 153000’[4th degree of Kany ] and both are in mrtyubh ga. Ailment of the child had its beginning in Saturn(d)-Venus(b), the bhukti lord Venus debilitated in R i as the 6th lord from 5th house. Sun has no connection at all with the fifth house and hence its mrtyubh ga occupancy is of no consequence as far as the health of a child is concerned.

Jupiter is in mrtyubh ga and joins debilitated Venus in R i.

7. Example 9 of page 118: Sufficient data not available to check Saturn’s occupancy of MB 8. Example 10 of page 118: Citrapaksa Saturn of Kany : 16017’ [17th degree] is ahead of mrtyubh ga while the true sidereal value will be in mrtyubh ga.

9. Example on page 121: Mrtyubh ga occupancy of Ketu [12th degree of Dhanu] is irrelevant to the discussion. Citrapaksa Ketu Dhanu: 10045’ is in the 11th degree and is out of mrtyubh ga.

10. JF Kennedy Jr. Page 124: Citrapaksa Mars [25013’ of Mithuna: 26th degree] is not in mrtyubh ga. True sidereal values of both Mercury [199012’] and Mars [84026’] are in mrtyubh ga.

11. Putradukha example on page 130: Simha Lagna: Citrapaksa Guru 04015’ [5th degree] is not in mrtyubh ga [the 4th degree of Kany ].

12. Example given on page 136: Citrapaksa Sun of Leo 08001’ [9th degree] is not in mrtyubh ga. True sidereal value is in the 8th degree that is mrtyubh ga.

13.Example 2(a) on page 147: Citrapaksa Sun (23030’ M na: 24th degree) and Venus (28037’: 29th degree) are not in mrtyubh ga. The true sidereal values are in mrtyubh ga.

14. Example 3 of page 147: Citrapaksa R hu [12009’of Mithuna, 13th degree] is not in mrtyubh ga.

15. Example 4 on page 148: Mars is in mrtyubh ga for both Citra and M la ayan m a.

Jupiter, Sun and Mercury, the Citrapaksa longitudes are not in mrtyubh ga. True values are in mrtyubh ga.

16. Another example given on page 148: Citrapaksa Venus [15007’, 16th degree] is not in mrtyubh ga. True sidereal values is in MB.

• Dr.K.S.Charak’s Examples for Mrtyubh ga Reference: Subtleties of Medical Astrology Page 133: Range of Mrtyubh ga “It is unusual to find any planet on its exact MB degree. Almost invariably, the planets will stray for at least a few minutes of arc on either side of their stated MB. A longer range is permissible for the fast moving planets while only a limited range is permissible slow moving ones. The following range may be permitted on either side of the stated MB: (a) For the lagna: Up to one degree (b) For the Sun, Moon and Mercury: Up to 40 minutes (c) For Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, R hu and Ketu: Up to 30 minutes (d) For M ndi: Up to 30 minutes Planets that fall just outside the stated MB may be labeled as ‘near MB’ or ‘within one degree of MB’. However any further away from MB than one degree, the planets quickly lose their maleficence.

Relevance of the Ayan m a: It may be appreciated that the correct ayan m a will have a great significance if the MB has to be put to practical use. With varying ayan m a, the longitudes of planets would vary. We have found the Citrapaksa ayan m a used by Lahiri in his Indian Ephemeris as giving the most dependable results”.

This description is meaningless when we understand that the classical concept of a degree referred in the astronomical and astrological texts means the 1st to 360 degrees which begins at 0 and ends at 360 degree. So the 1st degree means 0 – 1 and this is the meaning for any reference to Bhaga in Indian astronomical tradition. Those who are unaware of the cannons of Indian astronomy only will have the above confusion.

Confusion created by Sri KN Rao has made its spread to the Jagannatha Hora Software also. Research we see above is incorrect.

1. Cancer of the Duodenum in Ketu(d)-Mercury(b) vis-à-vis Mercury in Mrtyubh ga (p.134) Data: 27 January 1936: Citrapaksa Lagna: 333018’, Moon: 322000’: Chart simulated for 22N32, 81E55 for IST= 0930: For M l dh ra Cakra, Lagna = 332034’ and Moon = 321017’. The event period stated was Ketu(d)-Saturn(b) till 17 July 1992. Mercury® as

per Citrapaksa [given] is293001’ and true sidereal value will be 292018’. Citrapaksa places Mercury in 24th degree of Makara and the true sidereal value in 23rd degree whereas mrtyubh ga of Mercury is 22nd degree of Makara. As per Vim ottari it was ani who was responsible for the event and not Budha.

2. Lagnapati and tmak raka afflicted by mrtyubh ga (p.135/136) Data: 17 August 1979, Chart simulated for Delhi at 0029 IST gives Lagna as 46046’ and Moon 53001’ corresponding to the Citrapaksa values 47038’ and 53044’.

• True nirayana Guru: 116029’ i.e 27th degree of Kataka, which is mrtyubh ga.

Citrapaksa Guru is in the 28th degree and therefore out of mrtyubh ga.

• True nirayana Budha: 100047’ i.e., 11th degree of Kataka that is not mrtyubh ga.

Citrapaksa Mercury [101031’] is in mrtyubh ga. → Blood abnormality detected in September 1987: R hu da a had begun in 9 November 1986. ani’s cidram started on 15 August 1987. → Surgical removal of spleen in August 1991: R hu(d)-Guru(b)-R hu(c) was from 6 August 1991 to 26 August 1991. Guru represents spleen and so the period of afflicted Guru is appropriate here.Citrapaksa places the event in ani bhukti. → Death in August 1992: Death in R hu(d)- ani(b)-Budha(c).

R hu is 134017’ and Saturn is139054’ – these malefics sandwich the 5th house[Spleen] longitude.

3. (Page 137) Mars occupying the eighth is in mrtyubh ga only when the true ayan m a is used. Citra-Mars® is 58024’, in the 29th degree whereas the true nirayana Mars will be 57040’ – in the 28th degree – mrtyubh ga.

4. (Page 139): Citra-Venus is 107008’, in the 18th degree of Cancer whereas true nirayana Venus is 106024’ – in the 17th degree of Cancer, which is mrtyubh ga.

5. In the last example on page 140, Citrapaksa Lagna is given as 257044’ and this gives the true nirayana value as 257000’ – the beginning of 18th degree and hence mrtyubh ga.

6. A Very Special Case: Example on page 129: Untimely death by Leukaemia:

Citrapaksa ayan m a shifts Lagna, Moon and Mars forward to the next R is and places the death of the native in Moon(d)-Mercury(b)-Mercury(c) that prevailed between 29 September 1995 and 10 December 1995. Apparently then the placement of Sun in Lagna and Moon in 8th seems to give an explanation for untimely death. But we must note that Mercury is not a m raka for Makara Lagna. See the above chart as per true nirayana cakra: • Birth is in sandhya with Lagna, Moon and Mars at the end-degree of r is and Lagna sandwiched between malefics. Further Saturn is in the 18th degree of Vr cika – mrtyubh ga. Death happened in Moon(d)-Saturn(b)-Sun or Moon (c). Now the question is: •

What is more detrimental to longevity, end-parts of signs or the first degrees?

The classical rule says: Sandhy y m himadidhitihor , p pairbh nthagatairnidhan ya I Pratyekam ip pasametaih, kendrairv sa vin amupaiti II

“Birth in twilight in Candrahor with malefics at the end-part of signs causes death, especially if the moon is conjunct malefics or malefics are placed in Kendras”.

Here the birth was in morning twilight in Candrahora with Lagna, Moon and Mars in the end-degrees of signs and thus satisfies the above dictum for early death. As two benefics Mercury [exchanging houses with Jupiter] and Venus were in Lagna, the native could survive up to 38 years – till the advent of Moon’s da a and bhukti of Saturn placed in mrtyubh ga. Both Moon and Saturn are debilitated in ast m a.

Every mrtyubhaga example available in astrological literature of modern times from such great figures like Sri KN Rao and Dr. KS Charak prove the truth of the ayanamsa I have proposed. Only exceptions are the few ones where the MB is misquoted or mis-interpreted as the cause of the event.
