The Northeast-10 Conference hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s track & field and men’s and women’s swimming & diving.
The Northeast-10 Conference is an NCAA Division II conference that was established in 1979. The NE-10 currently consists of 15 institutions throughout the Northeast including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
The Northeast-10 has a strong history of nationally ranked teams in all sports. In the 2008-2009 academic year the conference had 63 different teams representing 14 institutions advance to NCAA postseason play.
The institutions that make up the Northeast-10 include Adelphi University (Garden City, N.Y.), American International College (Springfield, Mass.), Assumption College (Worcester, Mass.), Bentley University (Waltham, Mass.), Franklin Pierce University (Rindge, N.H.), Le Moyne College (Syracuse, N.Y.), Merrimack College (North Andover, Mass.), University of New Haven (West Haven, Conn.), Pace University (Pleasantville, N.Y.), Saint Anselm College (Manchester, N.H.), Saint Michael’s College (Colchester, Vt.), College of Saint Rose (Albany, N.Y.), Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven, Conn.), Southern New Hampshire University (Manchester, N.H.) and Stonehill College (Easton, Mass.).
The Northeast-10 had teams advance to the national championship game in field hockey, women’s basketball and men’s lacrosse. The UMass Lowell field hockey team made their fourth finals appearance in the last six years last fall. In the winter, the Franklin Pierce women’s basketball became the third NE10 team in the last four years to advance all the way to the national championship game and also continued a ten year run of an Northeast-10 school advancing to the Elite Eight. The spring season also saw its share of championship buzz as the Le Moyne men’s lacrosse team advanced to its fourth straight national championship game.
The 15 member institutions are spread geographically from Syracuse, New York to Boston, Massachusetts and Burlington, Vermont to Long Island, New York. Many of the members are located in or around the urban metropolitan areas of Albany, Boston, New Haven, Worcester and New York. The Conference was proud to welcome the University of New Haven and Adelphi University in its latest expansion, thus adding to the powerful union of strong academic and athletic colleges and universities.
From the field of play to inside the class room, the Northeast-10 honored a number of studentathletes for their academic accomplishments. The conference honored close to 200 studentathletes throughout the year that excelled at a high level on the field and in the classroom as members of the academic all conference teams. In addition, 2,619 student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or higher and earned Commissioner’s Honor Roll achievement last year. Today’s Northeast-10 Conference remains focused on complementing the academic integrity and missions of the member institutions with a commitment to a broadbased championship program, as evidenced by the 23 sports the Conference offers in championship play, the most such of any Division II conference.
The Northeast-10 has evolved into a membership committed to competitive athletics programs that emphasize the education on and off the field of its more than 5,500 student athletes. Among the many accomplishments of these institutions are NCAA Division II National Championships in women’s basketball, field

Armas is just the sixth head coach of the program and will begin his fourth season at the helm of the program. During his third year leading the Brown and Gold, Armas managed his squad to their second straight NE-10 Championship game appearance and a berth into the NCAA Tournament. It was the 12th overall selection into the Tournament for the Panthers and first since 2007. honors. As a group, the Panthers took home a NSCAA Team Academic Award as well as a NE-10 Team Academic Excellence Award.
Armas has coached on the youth level with the Massapequa Soccer Club and the Albertson S.C., brings a wealth of soccer knowledge and background to the Panthers. An integral member of the 1995 U.S. Interregional Soccer League champion, Long Island Rough Riders, Armas went on to become a perennial MLS All-Star for the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Chicago Fire. He was named a member of the MLS Best XI five times and played in the MLS Cup four times, winning the trophy with the Fire in its expansion season in 1998.
In his second year, Armas boasted an 11-7-3 overall record with a 6-6-3 mark in conference play. As an eighth seed, the Panthers made their fourth consecutive NE-10 Tournament appearance and stunned the top seeded, and #10 nationally ranked, Yellow Jackets of AIC in the first round. They then made NE-10 history after upsetting the fourth seeded Warriors of Merrimack in the semi-finals to become the first #8 seed to make the Championship game where they would take runner-up honors. He had three earn All-Conference honors while two were named to the All-Tournament team.
A native of Brentwood, New York, Armas made 66 appearances for the U.S. National Team, retiring from competition after the 2007 MLS season to become a Fire assistant coach, before returning to Long Island to coach youth soccer in 2009. During the fall 2013 season, Armas was selected to be part of the inaugural Hall of Fame Class of the Long Island Soccer Football League. Armas was one of 48 individuals who were honored.
In his first year at the helm of the women’s soccer program, Armas guided his team to an 8-8-1 record, 7-7-1 in Northeast-10 play and a trip to the NE-10 Conference Tournament; the team’s third postseason appearance in as many years since joining the conference. Under his direction, he had two women named to the All-Conference Second team with another two earning spots on the All-Rookie Squad.
He most recently taught physical education at St. Anthony’s High School and coached the Albertson Under-16 team that qualified for the U.S. Soccer Developmental national playoffs.
A 1994 graduate of Adelphi, Armas was a two-time All-Academic selection during his time in Garden City and a two-time All-New York state selection. During his senior season he led the Panthers in Adelphi Coaches scoring with 17 points and was Throughout the Years an All-America Coach Years Overall selection. Motamed Field In 2008, Adelphi University announced the naming of its athletic competition field, part of its new outdoor sports stadium, in recognition of the generous support and leadership of its Board of Trustees Chairman, Thomas F. Motamed, Class of 1971. Motamed Field was the site of the 2011 NCAA Division II and III women’s lacrosse championship. It also played host to the 2010, 2011, and 2014 Northeast-10 Women’s Lacrosse Championships and the 2011, 2012, and 2014 Northeast-10 Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
• Adjacent to the Motamed Field is a practice space. • The tennis courts are located just beyond this field and anchors the complex in one contiguous area. • All-weather surface material to allow for year-round practice and competition. • Four main light standards help illuminate the field for evening training and competition, as well as working media and game operations. The Outdoor Sports Complex features Motamed Field, which is the home for the Adelphi men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse and field hockey programs.
• A heated/air-conditioned Press Box is located at the top of the stadium seats. Located midfield, the press box accommodates sports information, working media and game operations, which maintains the scoreboard and public address sound system. • The Panthers’ live in-game stats of soccer, lacrosse and field hockey events originates out of the press box. • Addition of a one-level parking structure for over 300 cars below the field.

Long Island There’s more than plenty to do on Long Island. Arts, culture, history, beaches, golf and shopping. There are five distinctive regions in Long Island North Shore, otherwise known as the Gold Coast, with dozens of historic sites dating back to colonial days and Gatsby-era mansions . South Shore, the Island’s spectator sports and entertainment center, with world-famous Jones and Fire Island Beaches, and home to the New York Islanders. Central Suffolk, with beautiful forests and natural
inlets, the world’s largest factory outlet center and a huge water park. North Fork, with an array of vineyards, waterfront ports and farm stands. South Fork, widely known as “The Hamptons,” with its pristine beaches and exclusive villages.
New York City It is impossible not to find something interesting to do and see in Manhattan. The most renowned of New York City’s five boroughs, Manhattan offers the best of everything— Broadway shows, concerts, sporting events, museums, shops, restaurants, parks, parades, cultural landmarks and one-of-a-kind neighborhoods. New York City is only 30 minutes from the Adelphi University Campus. On a trip to Manhattan, you could: • Head to Central Park to catch the finish of the New York City Marathon, or pack a picnic basket for lunch on the grass at Strawberry Fields; • Ring in the New Year by watching the famous ball drop in Times Square; • Catch a Tony Award-winning show or late-night TV favorite David Letterman on Broadway; • See the Knicks take the court or the Rangers hit the ice at historic Madison Square Garden;

stands that seat 1,600 spectators.
The William J. Bonomo Memorial Field was officially opened on October 6, 2007 and dedicated on December 10, 2007 as home to the baseball team. The field, which is constructed of field turf with cut outs for the bases, home plate and the pitcher’s mound, allow for games to be played in the most unfavorable of condition.
Janet L. Ficke Field
Named after long time softball coach, the Janet L. Ficke Field was rededicated in October 2005 and got a face-lift with renovations finished in the summer of 2011.
