It was a rainy Saturday and five families decided to go to the zoo.
Wombat
There were five parents and five children; each of the children wanted to see a particular animal and wore a different coloured raincoat. Each of the parents wore a certain piece of clothing and arrived at the zoo via a certain mode of transport.
Peacock Monkey Baby elephant
Pair up the parents and children and figure out the colour of each child’s raincoat and the animal they wanted to visit, and decide which parent must be wearing each item of clothing, and how they arrived at the zoo. Each parent can only wear one piece of clothing and each piece of clothing can only be worn by one parent, the same rule applies to all other characteristics so you will have only 5 ticks in each of the coloured sections.
Red Blue Green Yellow Orange
• There was Thomas, who arrived in a hatchback car with his son Johnny. Johnny disliked green but loved the tigers. • The little boy who wanted to visit the wombats liked to wear his mother’s scarf. His mother really enjoyed outdoor exercise. • David didn’t like wearing layers of clothing but often covered his hands; his child loved yellow. • The parent with the ute never wore a hat when visiting the monkeys, her daughter had an orange raincoat. • Anne jumped in the puddles wearing her red raincoat, her father wore a hat and had trouble parking their long vehicle in the small car spaces. • The wombat loved the bright green of the child’s raincoat. • Sarah enjoyed holding her father’s warm hand and only wanted to visit the prettiest animal. • The child who visited the zoo with Angela arrived in a ute. • Tim’s mother liked to walk to the zoo. • Angela did not wear a scarf or boots.
