MODEL MAKING

“White

is the most wonderful color because within it you can see all the colors of the rainbow. The whiteness of white is never just white: it is almost always transformed by light and that which is changing: the sky, the clouds, the sun and the moon. - Richard Meier

Lake side Manor

3.4

This lake side manor project was one of my first models I made in my pursuit towards becoming an architect. This is a beautiful model with tiny intricate detail. The guidelines were to use posterboard for the buildings but I knew choosing basswood would make the model more elegant. With the addition of purple babies breath for trees, this model really stood out amount the rest.

[re] use affordable living

This, my thesis project, was my final model built during school. It is a beautiful model, a simple model, but yet one that has many wonderful things going on in it. Many different types of materials were used in this model. To represent dirt or grass - cork, to differentiate exterior decking from interior hardwood - balsa and basswood. To represent a shingled roof - sandpaper. All materials were tastefully picked, making this one of my most prized models.

Desert Retreat

This is one of my 3rd year models. This well crafted model was made mostly out of scraps. The project was a quick charrette, with the focus geared towards small sustainable living. There was a challenge in crafting this model due to the angles and my choice of materials. Chip board for main walls, painted black basswood for mullians, beige chipboard for interior and cork for stone walls all help make this a special model.

Johnson Residence

This beautiful model sits wonderfully at an edge of a shelf or on a bookcase. It was made during my 3rd year and was a fun hypothetical project. Basswood and cork were main materials used for construction. White museum board was used for flooring because it goes nicely with offwhite wood color and mullians are painted black to help accent model.

I am an inspiring artist with a degree in architecture. Modeling is key, and my exceptional skills can help represent anything. I am very energetic and relish in the challenge to bring ideas to life through model making.
