" ingle family homes in America should be far more efficient, less wasteful, and less expensive than the current model." ASCL is an answer to this problem. This project is a 1000 sq. ft. net zero house that costs less than your typical similar sized home. This project can also be constructed in a shorter amount of time. To achieve this the home is built out of 3 shipping containers and utilizes the latest in recycled material. The home also has a lot of sustainable features built in. Such as solar panels on roof, rain water collection, and radiant flooring. The building also has a few vernacular design features built in to help reduce it's need for man made systems ultimately keeping house more comfortable.

To make this house net zero the project incorporates 10 different sustainable features. First off is the use of 22 solar panels on roof. Secondly this house uses passive systems like, natural convection, ceiling fans, and nano walls. For heating the house has radiant floors. For hot water a tank-less electric heater is used under each sink which cuts down on heat up time and energy consumption. One can also grow all of their own food in the vertical garden off of deck.

The unique aspect of the apartment units themselves will be their lack of separate bathrooms and kitchens. Instead each unit will share these amenities, this would encourage residents to come together rather than be isolated from one another.

Park space around the building would host weekly farmers markets, community yard sales, movie in the park nights, dog parks, etc...

We as designers can easily get caught up in our work that is why I like to change things up often and work on multiple things at once. Just recently I made a table top shelf for my papers. I also made a stool from a half of a broken one found in the dumpster. I've also tried my hand with old wooden pallets and making furniture like this folding/ reclining beach chair! The point is don't get glued to a screen and keep your creativity going!
