Members, apologies for this newsletter being a few days s month Cloncurry and Mt Isa entries had us the pump and were our priority. Huge entries ar particularly in the breakaway roping and race at both Cloncurry and Mt Isa. Records roken this year with the highest number of way ropers and barrel racers entered ever in tory of Mt Isa Rodeo. WOW. Breakaway roping a growing sport and has been the highest d event for many of weekends now So ic to see! It will be a tough event to get d in at the finals this year, but more gly, how good is the competition going to be NFR!!! Bring it on girls!
Sadly, the end of July we said goodbye to one of our office staff in Ellysa Kenny. I thank Liss for her hard work and help over the past six months. We will miss her I look forward to seeing her compete at the NFR however, and Logan and Brooke have expressed that they look forward to entering her name into the APRA system in the results every Monday
Last week we also saw the resignation of Jeff Miller from the Executive Board. Jeff has been a dedicated Director of the APRA boards having completed several terms, the most recent stint being from 2018 to present on the Executive.
His contribution to our Association and the sport of professional rodeo has been second to none. His professionalism and passion whilst representing the board and the Association is a credit to him and he will be dearly missed. Being a director can be a thankless job at times and Jeff’s enthusiasm never wavered and he always ensured he was solid in his decisions and advice On behalf of the Board of Directors we thank Jeff for the countless hours he contributed towards progressing the Association and the sport we know he is passionate about. Jeff has taken up a higher and very demanding role with his employer and felt that he no longer had the time necessary to dedicate to the position he held on the Executive Board. Thank you Jeff.
Moving onto introductions Last week saw our new Business Manager Melinda Walker commence Melinda will be based in the Warwick office and will take the lead in managing the office and all things business. Melinda’s background includes managing a busy Stock and Station Agent Business and has her own Bookkeeping business. The commencement of Melinda will mean I will be stepping away from things at the end of August/early September. I will still be available to offer assistance when needed and until Melinda is fully up to speed
Please, please remember to submit your motions for the AGM You have until the 11th of September to submit. I regularly am on the receiving end of complaints about APRA rules, so members this is your way of doing something about it. Put your pen to paper and get things in and even better still, show up……. come to the AGM and have your say.
A reminder that expressions of interest for Officials and stock contractors for the NFR close on 11th of August. Visit our website to find the EOI form and complete and return to us.
Please take note of the proposed program for the NFR in this edition of the newsletter. In particular, the addition of an Awards ceremony and back number presentation even on the Wednesday night 8th November the night before the NFR kicks off, to be held at the Gracemere Hotel
Also note NFR entry dates for the top 25 in the standings being 11th – 29th September. Entries will be via email at entries@prorodeo.com.au. Top 15 at the end of the season who have entered will then receive personal invitation to the finals along with registration requirements.
Best wishes to all attending the rest of the Northern run Safe travels
Until next month
