Automation Alley’s 2011 Technology Industry Report is an in-depth look at Southeast Michigan’s technology economy. The Anderson Economic Group, a business consulting firm based in East Lansing, was commissioned to research the size and scope of the region’s technology sector, including the number of technology firms and technology workers in the region, emerging industries, existing technology clusters and opportunities for technology growth. The report serves to benchmark Southeast Michigan against other technology regions in the Midwest and nationally and will be used as a tool for Automation Alley’s strategic planning. The data indicate that Metro Detroit is a leader in a number of industry job categories and ranks as one of the top technology centers in the country.
