The 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz is a new small pickup that has a lot to offer. Great looks, functionality, advanced tech, and safety, all wrapped in a handsome and unique design.

Hyundai doesn’t want to call the Santa Cruz a pickup truck. They call it a “sport adventure vehicle” as far as I’m concerned, it’s got a pickup bed and that makes it a pickup truck. The Santa Cruz competes in the small truck segment with vehicles like the Ford Maverick.

It’s available in front or all-wheel drive with the base 191 horsepower four-cylinder engine, or it comes allwheel drive only with Hyundai’s H track all-wheel drive system with the 2.5 liter turbo which has a dual clutch transmission and paddle shifters. With the base engine, it can pull about 3500 pounds whereas with the DCT in the turbo, it can pull up to 5000 pounds. When Hyundai created this vehicle they aimed at the driving dynamics of an SUV as opposed to a body on frame vehicle more like a Tacoma or a Nissan Frontier. This has a unibody design and a four-foot bed in the back and in 2023 they’re offering a new night model with 20 inch black wheels, a dark grille and black painted trim. It boasts one of the nicest cabins among midsize trucks in its segment. The Santa Cruz is only available as a four door crew cab as is the Ford Maverick . Speaking of the interior, this “truck” offers a fully digital gauge cluster and a traditional shifter in the console as opposed to buttons or a knob which I’m a big fan of. It comes standard with an eight inch touchscreen or an upgraded 10.3 inch touchscreen which obviously have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Hyundai Santa Cruz is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick. Standard safety features

include Forward Collision Warning, automated emergency braking, lane departure, Lane Keep Assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. It also comes with a 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

The rear bed area has a lot to talk about. It has power outlets, security, and it also has under floor storage. This can be used as a cooler that also has a drain plug which is super convenient, especially if you’re camping putting gear in there keeping drinks cold and what have you. The available power tailgate can also be operated from the key fob and it’s adjustable whether you want it completely flat or set at an angle keeping things in the bed. I really like the look of this vehicle it really has a futuristic and distinctive design. I think the unique front end looks great on the Santa Cruz and it’s very distinguishable on the road.

The Hyundai Santa Cruz has a very neat feature called the Hyundai digital key. This system allows for the vehicle to be unlocked, locked started and driven with a smartphone. The system also allows the primary user to share a digital key access with three other users so you can actually send someone a shared key from clear across the country. This is great especially if you’ve left something in the car you left your keys somewhere. I just think this is a super convenient and very neat feature.

As far as new utility vehicles go I think the 2023 Santa Cruz is a solid and unique choice when it comes to some of the more mundane vehicles out there. With features galore and a industry leading warranty, it certainly deserves your consideration.
