JON LAND is the USA Today bestselling author of fifty-eight books, including eleven in the critically acclaimed Texas Ranger Caitlin Strong series, the most recent of which, Strong from the Heart, won the 2020 American Fiction Award for Best Thriller. Additionally, he has teamed up with Heather Graham for a science fiction series that began with THE RISING (winner of the 2017 International Book Award for best Sci-fi Novel) and continues with BLOOD MOON, to be published by Tor in November of 2022. He has also written six books in the Murder, She Wrote series of mysteries and has more recently taken over Margaret Truman's Capital Crimes series, with his second effort, MURDER AT THE CDC, which published in February '22. Jon is known as well for writing the film DIRTY DEEDS, a teen comedy starring Milo Ventimiglia and Zoe Saldana, which was released in 2005. The connection between the mass shooting and Alexandra’s poisoning lies in that long-lost military transport that has been recovered by forces determined to change America forever. Fire pit sitting on the grounds of a late 19th century Queen Anne style manse overlooking Narragansett Bay? The only answer to that question mark, as far as I’m concerned, is absolutely! (Especially if you missed the ones at Castle Hill back in December…) Yes, everyone’s favorite English country manor style estate — Blithewold in Bristol — has gone from their usual long winter’s nap (aka, being shuttered in January and February) to rolling
out fire pits that you can reserve via Eventbrite. And full disclosure, I bought tix yesterday for the aptly named Cozy Fires And Tasty Treats experience. For $55 ($35 is the rate for members), you get seating for up to 6 people (choose wisely, the last thing you want is to loop in someone in your world who loves to complain and hates the cold), a LOW SMOKE (if you’ve ever walked away from a fire with your hair reeking, you can appreciate…the image I saw sure looked like Solo Stoves but don’t quote me on that) fire, s’mores kits, and of course, those famous water views for a 1 hour window. Additional items you might want to bring along? Some fire-resistant and wooly out-
of-doors blankets, hand and seat warmers, and maybe a thermos or two of hot chocolate or cider. You have the option of exploring the grounds, too, which is perfect for anyone who enjoys a wintertime hike. And if you live for an IG photo dump, why not hire a local photog to do a mini shoot? That being said, know that dates and times (either 12noon to 1pm, 1:30 to 2:30pm, or 3 to 4pm) are booking up fast, so don’t rest on your laurels if this is something you would ADORE. Audrain Automobile Museum Supercar Display Going on Now The Audrain Automobile Museum in Newport has a stunning display of some of the world’s most significant supercars going on now thru May 29th. They include such automotive icons as the Ferrari F40, Porsche 959, McLaren F1, Ford GT, MercedesBenz CLK-GTR, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Reventon Roadster and more. There’s even a superbike, the Ducati Superleggera V4, the most powerful street legal road bike you can buy (if you have a hundred grand or so lying around). Ironically, the fastest of the bunch is the only electric car in the display, the Tesla Model S Plaid. While it may not have the pedigree, desirability or pricetag of any of the other cars there, its 0-60 time of under two seconds, makes it the fastest production car of the group.

About the Audrain Automobile Museum Founded in 2014 in Newport, Rhode Island with a mission of "Preserving, Celebrating & Sharing Automotive History," the Audrain Automobile Museum connects and engages with other local non-profits and the greater Aquidneck Island community. The historic Audrain Building was transformed into a captivating exhibition space, fit specifically for our cultural needs. The museum, with access to collections containing over 350 cars and motorcycles ranging from brass era pre-War cars to Supercars of the 2000s, displays three or four fresh and thematic exhibits each year, to entertain all generations and stylistic preferences.
