Hey Division 1N Key Clubbers! Summer has flown by and its hard to believe that we’re less than three weeks away from the start of school. Hopefully y’all have had a fantastic break and are ready to start this new year with a bang. Although most of y’all are dreading August 24, it means more active members and a chance to strengthen your club. With school quickly approaching, now is the time to recruit new members into Key Club. Attend freshman orientation, hand out flyers, and let all of your friends know how it can make those four years in high school so much better. Also, remember to be planning for your first meeting of the year. This is probably the most important meeting because it shows new members what to expect and sets a precedent for the rest of the year. Since many of y’all were unable to attend STC, I am working on having another day to train all of your club’s officers. I will let you know as soon as there is a definite date.
Finally, I can’t wait to attend your club meetings and see all the great things that you do throughout the year. If you ever have any questions or need help, I’m here at all times. Yours in Service,
Spotlight of the Month
On Tuesday July 28th, the Saginaw HS Key Club held a social in which they discussed future plans for the upcoming year and bonded with fellow Key Clubbers. New and old members alike attended at a local park and enjoyed popsicles. They also collected toilet paper donations for the Saginaw Kiwanis Club’s July service project, to be donated to a local food pantry.
Later that week on Friday July 31st, members went to a local laundromat and participated in a service project called Laundry Love. For an hour, the Key Clubbers paid for peoples’ laundry as a way to give back to the community. “It really made me happy to see others so surprised that we were being kind to them. Making others’ day made my day,” said Kalina Fajardo.
Summer Board From July 24-26, the Texas-Oklahoma District Board met up in Irving, TX for the second time of the year at Summer Board. Lieutenant Governors from each division and the District Staff received the latest updates on what’s going on in the District, learned how we can better serve T-O, and bonded with other board members. The Top 25 Clubs were revealed and unfortunately none of the Division 1N clubs made it but that gives y’all something to strive for! We also found out that Fall Rally is definitely going to happen (check out the page before this). Additionally, the District Convention theme and District Project were voted upon and will be revealed at a later time.
International Trustee Hello Texas-Oklahoma District, My name is Ian MacDonald, and I am thrilled to officially introduce myself as your International Trustee. I am serving the Caribbean-Atlantic, Indiana, and Texas-Oklahoma districts this year. These are our sister districts, and we will be working together throughout the year. As a Trustee, I serve on the International Board as a voting member, but I additionally counsel and represent your district at the international level. I also would like you to know that I am available to all of you for anything you may need in the upcoming year. Governor Rachel and I have set up a regular communication schedule to ensure your districts success and prosperity. Besides being a passionate Key Club member, I am a varsity soccer player and mathlete at Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach and boating in the Gulf of Mexico. My personal favorite service project is working with special needs adults and children at buddy baseball.
Yours in service, Ian

CAMP DAVI
ID SOCIAL On Saturday, July 18th, the North Crowley HS Key Club (Division 1S) held a social at Camp David by Grapevine Lake. Members from two clubs in our division, Birdville HS and Saginaw HS, were able to attend, along with many clubs from Division 1S. For one day, members participated in team-building activities, met new friends, had a water balloon fight, and roasted s'mores by a campfire. After, we shared our experience and explored Grapevine Lake. It was great bonding with members of our Division 1 counterpart so if your club wants to do something like this or invite them to an event let me know!
