COTTM’09 welcomed a record number of visitors to the only B2B outbound travel show in China! This year’s China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market, (COTTM) recently held its fifth annual event in Beijing and was pleased to welcome a record number of visitors to it’s exhibition! Visitor numbers were up nearly 5% to 3,258 for this increasingly popular and successful show. Over 200 Exhibitors from more than 50 countries attended to showcase their countries, products and services to a high number of Chinese hosted buyers, who were keen to secure the best destinations and services for the Chinese outbound market. COTTM is a proven unrivalled platform for international companies to introduce themselves to the Chinese outbound travel industry. CHINESE OUTBOUND TOURISM Chinese tourists made 45.8 million outbound trips in 2008, up 11.9 percent from 2007, as the appreciation of the yuan against most other currencies raised their purchasing power. The World Tourism Organisation predicts that China will be the 4th largest source of outbound tourists by 2020 with a predicted 100 million travellers per year.
