Celebrating the Jubilee Year
CELEBRATING THE
WORLD YOUTH DAY
Melanie Marantelli and Katie Minniti of Year 11 represented the College as Pilgrims at the World Youth Day 2000 in Rome in August.
Julia Ottobre, Year 11, Sarah McGowan and Sarah Upton ofYear 10 also travelled as Pilgrimsfrom Our Lady ofthe Nativity parish, Essendon.
Celebrating Mass with two million people and visiting St Peter's Basilica can only deepen ones faith. Among the group from Melbourne who attended WYD, was a noticeable spirit that bound us together. The atmosphere in the city was incredible. Everywhere we looked there were people singing and chanting songs from their country. Train stations, streets, churches and piazzas were full ofhappy pilgrims, who were all in Rome for the same reason, to celebrate their faith. WYD reminded me that Jesus’ mission is as relevant today as it was 2000 years ago. Katie and I feel honoured to have been able to represent Ave Maria. We thank everyone in the College community for their interest and support.
