ON NOVEMBER 28TH, 2020, LINDSEY MARIE COFFEY BECAME THE FIRST WOMAN FROM THE UNITED STATES TO WIN THE MISS EARTH CROWN. LINDSEY IS CONSIDERED THE VIRTUAL QUEEN BECAUSE SHE COMPETED VIRTUALLY THE ENTIRE TIME FROM HER NATIONAL PAGEANT TO HER INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT. AS SUCH, COFFEY IS AN ICON OF 2020 AND A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE DIGITAL AGE WE LIVE IN. LINDSEY’S PASSIONS INCLUDE LAW, ANIMAL RIGHTS, MENTAL HEALTH, ETHICS AND MORALITY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. COFFEY GRADUATED WITH A B.A. IN POLITICAL SCIENCE, HELD A COMMUNICATIONS ART MINOR, AS WELL AS A CONCENTRATION IN PROFESSIONAL WRITING. INFECTA: RUMOR HAS IT THAT YOU AREN’T THE BIGGEST FAN OF MAKEUP. IF THIS IS THE CASE, YOU HAVE TO TELL US WHY! Lindsey: I am incredibly lazy, and I also don’t like the feeling of having anything on my face. It feels restrictive and my skin can’t breathe. Make up is beautiful and it’s fun getting dolled up at times, however; make up can drastically alter your look. I am a huge supporter of embracing your natural state. I also feel women are pressured to put effort into their appearance and, consequently, lose their confidence when showing a bare face. There is a double standard in appearance when it comes to men and women, I want to break that expectation. Bare is beautiful.

I: AS AN INTERNATIONAL MODEL THAT HAS WORKED FOR MAJOR BEAUTY BRANDS LIKE L’OREAL, WHAT INTERESTING BEAUTY HACKS HAVE YOU LEARNED ON SET? L: Cold spoons on your eyes help with swelling. Heat up your eyelash curler before use. Spray your bobby pins with hair spray to prevent them from sliding.

I: WHAT DO YOU DO TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR A PHOTOSHOOT? L: I try to avoid eating late the night before as well as anything too heavy. If my skin needs it, I may do a hydrating mask. Typically, I stick to my normal routine.

I: HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN YOUR SNATCHED BODY WITH YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE? L: Health and fitness is very important to me. I work with my trainer a lot focusing on cardio, HIIT, and strength training. I always mix it up to avoid my body adapting to the workouts. When I can’t make it to the gym, I have to keep my diet in line by eating clean and easy to digest foods. A liquid diet works really well for me such as soups, smoothies, and protein shakes.

I: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MAKEUP LOOK FROM THE MISS EARTH COMPETITION? L: Since I am not used to wearing glam makeup, I did enjoy wearing each look. One of my favorites was this copper look. We also added a half up half down hairstyle later in the day.

I: WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE HAIR LOOK FROM THE MISS EARTH COMPETITION? L: I ADORED the wet slick back look. It’s always been one of my favorite styles.

I: NOW THAT YOU ARE MISS EARTH, HOW DO YOU PLAN TO BRAND YOURSELF GLOBALLY? L: As a model branding has always been important. My brand is who I am as a person. I embrace my naturalness and raw beauty while encouraging others to do the same. I will carry over my modern elegance into my Miss Earth reign while also remaining fashion forward. I keep my style very versatile from cute babydoll dress to black cargo pants.

I: WHAT IS ONE BEAUTY TREND YOU’RE DYING TO TRY? L: I would love to start wearing wigs every now and then!

I: TELL US WHAT OUR READERS CAN DO TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY. L: Be mindful of the products you’re purchasing. The toxins and chemicals found in cosmetics are devastating to our environment. When products wash down the drain, these pollutants wash into our waterways and find their way into multiple ecosystems. Majority of these toxins do not breakdown and build up causing an imbalance in our natural life cycle. Read the label and stick to all-natural ingredients. Organic products will be less harsh on your skin and also on the environment.
