The CIS: increasing opportunities for regional airplanes Practically on the eve of 2013 the CIS aviation regulatory authority - the International Aviation Committee (MAK) – announced the successful completion of the certification process of the Brazilian E-190195 and Bombardier 700 series thus allow ing these aircraft the entrance to the Russian market. The announcement came surprisingly fast after the certification of CF34-8 (CRJ700/E-175) and CF34-10E (E-190) engines in September 2012, since there w as an industry-w ide concern w hether the airplanes w ould actually receive the approval any time soon, mainly due to the Russian Government’s protectionism over its latest SSJ100 aircraft. How ever, after the unfortunate accident at Mount Salak (Indonesia), it seems that Russian top officials have noticeably devaluated their aspiration for w hat w as once considered to be the hope of the entire national aviation industry. Follow ing the SSJ100 crash, the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation officially declared that it had put on hold any considerations w ith regard to SSJ100 introduction to the presidential fleet. And although the official investigation concluded that the accident had not been caused by any technical failure, the Administration has yet to renew talks w ith the manufacturer. Read More

During World War II, the US army decided it w as necessary to hide the entire Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant, w hich at the time w as manufacturing military aircraft. This w as commissioned in order to prevent Japanese air intelligence from targeting the object, staving off a possible air attack. Airbus beats order target and sets new com pany delivery records Arbus delivered a company record of 588 aircraft to 89 customers (17 new ) and exceeded its order target of 650 by w inning 914 gross orders. These orders include 305 CEO, 478 NEO, 82 A330/A340s, 40 A350 XWB and nine A380s. Airbus’ backlog sets a new industry-w ide record of 4,682 aircraft valued at over US$638 billion. Deliveries w ere 10 per cent higher than the 2011 record (534) and 2012 w as the 11th year in a row of increased production. In single aisles, Airbus set a new record of 455 deliveries (421 in 2011).
