Heavy Refurbishment on Embraer Legacy 600 — How to meet the high expectations of a design- and detailloving, but price-conscious aircraft owner. The owner of this Legacy 600 is a full-blooded businessman and tough negotiator. He sees his aircraft first and foremost as an investment – but it was still particularly important to him that the interior of his aircraft be given a very personal touch and recognition value.

So the challenge in this project was to meet the high expectations of a design- and detail-loving, but price-conscious aircraft owner. We were happy to accept this challenge. How did we convince this client to choose AeroVisto? With a suitable mix of design, individuality, professional competence and the high quality of our craftsmanship. Since he had already flown with business jets of Air Hamburg and other charter airlines, that had been refurbished and rejuvenated by AeroVisto, our client knew in advance what he could expect from us. From the very beginning, he had concrete ideas about how „his“ Interior should look. After numerous renderings and visualizations, which the customer received in advance according to his specifications, the final design and matching materials, were contractually fixed during a final visit to our showroom in Staad. What were the special highlights of the project from our point of view? There is the handmade carpet, which immediately catches the eye when you enter the cabin. It was designed and produced exactly according to the customer’s wishes. Attention was paid in detail to ensure that the carpet harmonized with the overall interior. WWW.AVIATIONHEAVEN.COM

AHGUIDE The colors were matched to the tone of the cabin’s side panels and the yarn was produced in the exact color of the leather upholstery. To lay the carpet – and install the other interior elements – our team spent 2 weeks on site at the aircraft’s location in Riga, Latvia, where it was simultaneously undergoing its 12-year check at JF Service. One of the wishes of the owner of this Legacy 600 was that the entire interior was and inviting. A feelgood environment was to be created, but it still had to look modern. This modern touch was achieved by using a dark film application with a wooden look. On the one hand, it provides a nice contrast to the bright leather – and at the same time, it covers the old wood decor of the elements that had always bothered the owner since he bought his plane. As the customer was already familiar with our film applications from other aircraft, and was enthusiastic about the numerous options and advantages they offer, the decision for this form of surface finishing was obviously easy for him.

This owner also had special ideas for the light-colored passenger seats, which were of course finished in leather with Stahl Stay Clean technology. In addition to the eye-catching double-seam diamond stitching, he wanted a detail that only the attentive observer would notice: leather with a grain in stingray leather look. We appreciate such detail-loving customers and were happy to realize this wish as well.

We are pleased to present this client case to you. It shows how much dynamics and potential there is in a refurbishment project when an aircraft owner approaches us with a specific idea and at the same time is willing to be advised by us about the numerous options and possibilities. In this way, individual aircraft interiors are created that both excite the customer and fit the budget at the same time.

A real challenge was the mirror installation on the rear wall of the passenger cabin, where not only the plain areas but also the curves had to be taken into account. The convincing result was worth all the effort.

The A220 Corporate Cabin Concept Takes the Award for “Best Private Jet Design/Concept” Camber Aviation Management, a leading global provider of corporate jet cabin completion management and technical advisory services, together with its partners Pierrejean Vision and Kestrel Aviation Management have won the award for the best Private Jet Design - Concept at The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2021 by leading interior design magazine design et al. After months of deliberation and voting, our A220 Corporate Cabin Concept won the award, crowning a successful partnership that has invested over 18 months of detailed design work on this project. A220 Corporate Cabin Concept: The Bombardier C Series (now Airbus A220) was chosen as the conversion platform because it met four important standards: a modern, state-of-the-art technology comparable to its competitors, cabin volume equivalent to the Airbus A319Neo or Boeing BBJ Max7, exceptional take-off performance from hot, high, and short runways, and the ability to adapt the passenger cabin into a corporate aircraft layout There were many objectives for the A220 Corporate Cabin Concept category. The focus was on a unique seven-zone modular cabin. Each cabin was composed of three fixed zones (entrance/galley, lavatory/wardrobe and private suite with ensuite washroom) and four variable zones.

The design had to be innovative, clearly differentiate itself from competitors, include state-of-the-art systems/materials, and provide options for cabin aesthetic customisation. The teams were tasked with reducing the overall elapsed time of cabin modification, while also reducing the weight of the cabin by at least 30% compared to legacy designs. Teams also worked hard to reduce product support costs post EIS, achieve greater reliability through utilisation of common parts, and solidify a well thoughtout, production‐ready modular design. The modular cabin concept was originally developed to simplify cabin design and lower production/NRE costs over a large number of aircraft. This is crucial in reducing manufacturing, integration and certification costs. These aspects are all essential in achieving the right price point in the market while providing a bespoke and highly capable aircraft. Critically, the customer gains the ability to customise the cabin to suit their unique requirements to reflect the true purpose of the aircraft whether for private, government or business use, or a bespoke solution for any of these. At the award ceremony in Venice, Thomas Chatfield, CEO of Camber Aviation, accepted the award on behalf of all of the partners. During his speech, he said: “Business, as in life, is only truly successful when we have great partners. Camber Aviation Management was fortunate to work together with our amazing partners, Pierrejean Vision, Kestrel Aviation Management, F/List and Flying Colours. Together we created a cabin design that clearly caught the eyes of many. Thank you for recognising our hard work and vision.”

Beyond Borders More PRIMUS AERO Have you ever tried to get something done in the business aviation industry? Then you probably know how important it is to have a network of trustworthy contacts who can enable you to make the impossible-seeming possible. On a daily experience, we are experiencing how important it is to know whom to turn to in case of AOG or if travel restrictions keep us from assisting our customers at the location of their aircraft. Especially in COVID-times, it has become evident how important it is to have partners who share our quality standards in many places on the continent and worldwide. In Europe specifically, we know every MRO personally and sometimes even the technicians working on our customer’s aircraft.

The PRIMUS AERO Partner Network We want to build on our excellent existing network through a system of PRIMUS partner offices (“the PRIMUS Partner Network”) around the world. But let us start at the beginning. PRIMUS AERO was founded in 2010 by CEO Stephan Krainer out of the conviction that Continuing Airworthiness Management can be done at a higher quality than what he experienced in his career in the business aviation industry. Today, PRIMUS is one of the largest, if not the largest, independent CAMO in Europe. Before the pandemic, we had 14 employees, and today we have 24. Moreover, we expect to have 30 employees by the end of the year. However, the journey from the decision to found PRIMUS to the successful company of today was not an easy one. For CEO Stephan Krainer, an aircraft technician, there was a lot to learn about accounting, taxes, and marketing. Today, PRIMUS employs specialists on all these topics who seek to do their very best each day. The fruits of the collective labor of the team can be seen in the current almost exponential growth of PRIMUS AERO.

Through the Partner Network, we are making the “secret sauce” of our success available to individuals in the business aviation industry, who, like CEO Stephan Krainer, have an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to become independent. We are offering the opportunity to found a company under the umbrella of the PRIMUS AERO brand with access to our world-class spare parts and logistics department, support from our accounting department, and access to the skills and materials of our marketing department.

Same Quality, Same Standards, Same Spirit What will change for PRIMUS AERO customers? Nothing except they will gain access to more expertise, support for more aircraft types, and contact points in more countries. Our first partner offices, for example, will open in Lisbon, Portugal, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, and we expect a location in the UAE to follow next. This means that PRIMUS AERO will be even closer to more airports, MROs, and places where our customer’s aircraft could be based. Recently, we had a request from a Mongolian operator whom we would love to support. While Austria is in an excellent position to serve markets in Europe, local proximity to our customers is always better. In this case, the six-hour time difference between our headquarters and the customer presents quite a challenge. Our partner office in Almaty, on the other hand, will be able to provide much closer support. Customers can get in touch with anyone in the partner network, and we will devise a solution that will offer the best support possible in every situation. Interested in finding out more? Busy times at ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service Cologne As in all Part-145 maintenance facilities, ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service GmbH is also regularly confronted with unforeseen maintenance events requiring a huge flexibility and a lot of experience in processing non-routine repair jobs. In the recent past we welcomed a Bombardier Challenger 604 in the facility at Cologne Bonn Airport due to an A.O.G. situation with massive damage to the airframe caused by water that flowed from the lavatory along the entire cabin floor. In order to clean and dry the aircraft the complete cabin interior had to be disassembled first and both forward and auxiliary tanks were removed with help of a special tool. Furthermore, all isolation blankets and cushions were taken out for replacement. The cleaning of the water spillage that had flowed into any gap in the cabin was carried out strictly according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Before reinstallation of the cabin interior the professionally cleaned carpet was laid to complete the job. After an additional huge scheduled maintenance check the aircraft was released to service on time. Since 1 January 2021 as a result of Brexit, owners of UK registered aircraft can largely only use a maintenance organization holding a UK issued 145 approval as all transition exemptions have expired. ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service GmbH applied in advance for a UK 145 approval, allowing us to continuously serve our UK customers. Subsequently we were delighted to support a customer with regards to a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) Level I on a G-registered Bombardier Challenger 605 performed in the Cologne hangar. During the prepurchase inspection the maintenance team checked all aspects of the aircraft relevant to the customer’s purchase requirements. During these types of Maintenance events, a close cooperation with the buyer is a necessary requirement for the optimal PPI including operational checks, detailed inspections, visual or borescope inspections of various systems and aircraft parts. The PPI report was issued in time and the maintenance team will now support the customer with re-registration of the aircraft. We expect our customer to leave the maintenance facility satisfied enjoying his new aircraft. As everybody at ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service always puts the customer’s needs and expectations at the forefront of our focus, the entire team is always ready to face any challenge, and support you, the customer to the best of our ability – routine or non-routine.
