MISSION STATEMENT

The Oakland Park Democratic Club is committed to the democratic principles and goals of the Democratic Party from the National level through to our local community. Our objective is to improve the quality to life for all residents of the city of Oakland Park, and in turn, all America, by growing a unified partnership of Democratic members and Democratically elected leaders who support and promote these principles and goals as intended by the Constitution of the United States of America.

Robert worked hard serving as precinct committeeman for D004, during the Obama campaign, leading participants in phone banking, voter registration and canvassing. As a member of the Dolphin Democrats Club, he served on the bylaw committee, an when the club dissolved Robert felt an important need to have a true Democratic Club in Oakland Park/Wilton Manors. In 2013, Robert initiated the first organizational meeting and was instrumental Source: Facebook in getting the credentials to become the Oakland Park Democratic Club, thus serving as the first President of our great club and still serving as President today! Robert graduated with degrees in International business and marketing, speaks three languages, and presently works with a communication company. That background has served us all well for the benefit of the club. Tim Canova is a law professor, grassroots

political activist, and currently a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida’s 23rd Congressional district. As both a candidate and legal scholar, Tim has championed a progressive agenda rooted in the traditions and policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal. He is committed to integrity in our elections Source: TimCanova.com and campaign finance reform, and has refused to take any campaign contributions from corporate special interests and political action committees. Tim’s 2016 campaign broke all records for highest percentage of small online donations for any candidate for federal office in U.S. history. Since his 2016 primary, Tim brought suit against the Broward County Supervisor of Elections in an attempt to verify the vote and inspect the ballots under Florida’s public records law. In the course of the litigation, the Supervisor admitted to destroying all the paper ballots in Tim’s election in violation of federal and state law and in defiance of the court’s authority. run for House District 93, was inspired by the strong feelings she has about protecting our environment, critical infrastructure needs caused by sea level rise and storm surge, public education funding, and small business and STEM job growth. Richard Graulich / The Palm Beach Post One of the earliest organizers of the Women’s March, Emma was instrumental in getting tens of thousands of Floridians to DC and to regional marches. Emma is responsible for organizing the largest mobilization of busses in U.S. history. Emma is General Counsel for a family owned business with roots in South Florida reaching back thirty years. She has worked tirelessly to increase the skill set and training for employees through local college and grant programs. This experience has informed her belief that small and medium sized businesses are the life blood of the community. Emma believes that more power should be given to the city municipalities and townships that know and understand the needs of their communities. Honoring, Democratic Activist, Mitchell Stollberg 10

Mitchell Stollberg has been involved in

Oakland Park community affairs and Broward Democratic politics for over 20 years. During this time he helped the North Andrews Homeowners Association go through their transition into the City of Oakland Park in ‘05. Mitchell joined the Board of the Oakland Park Democratic Club as Membership Director, and then on to serving as the club’s Source: Facebook Vice President through March 2017. He was a major force in developing the Club’s reputation as one of the most active Democratic Clubs in the County. He has been consistently active supporting progressive values within the Democratic Party (such as the Medicare for all Campaign) and he was a Bernie Sanders delegate at the Democratic Presidential Convention in Philadelphia in July 2016. Also a very active member of the Broward Democratic Executive Committee (as a Precinct leader), and generously gave of his money, efforts, and time during the 2016 campaign, right up to the November campaign to elect Hillary Clinton the President of the United States. He has leveraged his passion for Progressive politics within the Democratic Party by starting the Broward PDA Chapter (Progressive Democrats of America) and becoming their Florida Chair for the Florida Chapter, and continues his active presence in the Broward Democratic Party and with the Oakland Park Democratic Club.
