l Campamento Aventura Lagos es un concepto inigualable en Chiapas, con actividades extremas y juegos de integración, niños y padres se divierten mientras conviven y aprenden de la hermosa naturaleza que los abriga. Baldemar, su joven y carismático anfitrión, los estará esperando por la tarde, ya con todo listo (literalmente porque el grandioso equipo de Chiapas Extremo instala por ti las casas de campaña y demás)
para iniciar la diversión. Después de registrarte y acomodarte en tu casa, disfrutarás de un banquete en medio del bosque, cocinado por las chavas del staff. En tu estancia en este lugar tendrás diversión y entretenimiento continuos, la aventura empieza a primera hora del día después del rico desayuno, la entretenida
activación física te prepara para iniciar con la bicicleta tu intrépido recorrido por la montaña y a través de una excitante pista. Los padres arriban a la Laguna de Montebello a final de una caminata de 40 minutos desde el campamento y son alcanzados por sus hijos en su bicicleta, aquí los kayak los estarán esperando para iniciar la aventura acuática en este mágico lugar, que te regala hermosos espectáculos de colores conforme pasan las horas.
Divertirse abre el apetito y el staff de Chiapas Extremo lo sabe, por eso a tu regreso al campamento encontrarás la comida servida (rica carne asada, tortillas hechas a mano, chinculhuajes -gorditas de frijol con queso y salsa-, caldo de pollo de rancho y mucho más) que es preparada al momento en el área de cocina del lugar. Realizarás actividades de integración, en la que padres e hijos conviven y se divierten al unísono, carrera
de costales, competencia de huevos y jalar la cuerda, son parte del itinerario. Los aprendizajes que te deja el campamento son únicos, así como el compartir sonrisas con otras familias. El bosque nublado de este terruño resguarda profundos secretos, que puedes ir diseccionando con cada paso hacia el mirador a 1,650 msnm en lo más alto de la montaña, la vista hacia el lago Bosque Azul es majestuosa. Aquí los niños entran en verdadero contacto y conviven de cerca con la magia de la naturaleza de Chiapas. Esta caminata tiene 3 km de largo, podrás visitar las plantaciones de plátano, pasarás por la misteriosa “gruta de los mayas” y por el campo de moras, donde podrás disfrutar de algunas recién cortadas.
Las luces se apagan para apreciar por completo el cosmos lleno de estrellas, en el corazón del campamento, Cazador (uno de los expertos guías) te enseñará como hacer una fogata en pocos minutos. Las emociones son cambiantes como el color de la hoja de los maples que aquí existen. En silencio niños escuchan atentos historias de terror, pero al abrir la bolsa de bombones la alegría se despierta y se dibujan pequeñas sonrisas en cada rostro, sin duda pasarás veladas inigualables. Una de las mejores actividades del campamento es la caminata por la cañada, está fuera de serie, la adrenalina se desata al bajar y subir por la estrecha vereda, cada metro te lleva a escenarios distintos, a veces te sientes como pasear en tiempos prehistóricos, con gigantesca vegetación exótica; y otras es como estar dentro de una de las escenas de la película Ávatar. Es posible que a la distancia veas algún venado, jabalí, ocelote, armadillo, entre otros animales que habitan la región. Chiapas Extremo te hará pasar un fin de semana extraordinario, una experiencia increíble en la que compartes las 24 horas con tus pequeños, divirtiéndose y aprendiendo juntos. Es una aventura incomparable, te enamorarás de la naturaleza y vivirás Chiapas de otra manera.

LA JUNTA Una unión para divertirse
n los tiempos en que no había letras, cuando el cenzontle y la urraca volaban libres, en lo más profundo de los cerros estaba a punto de ocurrir un evento extraordinario. Dos milenarios hermanos se reunieron para pactar, para juntos hacer de su lugar de encuentro el más fértil y hermoso de la región. Jaguares, monos y venados fueron testigos de este trato, que al enlazar sus brazos, al compás de un rayo, ambos se transformaron en río y en el núcleo de esa unión se formó una hermosa poza de agua cristalina. Se trata de La Junta, en la comunidad de Juan del Grijalva II, lugar donde convergen los afluentes del río Cedro y del río El Achiote. Hombro a hombro se encuentra el centro turístico con este tesoro de la naturaleza. Los alegres habitantes del lugar han dedicado parte de su alma para hacer del sitio uno de los más bellos atractivos de la Depresión Central del Chiapas.
Las suaves caricias del sol son una invitación para sumergirte en la refrescante diversión. Nadar en la amplia poza de agua traslúcida al lado de coloridos y bailarines peces; jugar en la orilla con los niños, pasear en el cayuco, hacer clavados desde los árboles o simplemente gozar del idílico paisaje engalanado por las garzas y los patos. En La Junta puedes hacer caminatas por un sendero de piedra a la orilla del río, visitar las plantaciones de plátano y retar al vértigo en los dos puentes colgantes. En su acogedor y rústico restaurante puedes disfrutar de una deliciosa carne asada, caldo de gallina de rancho, mojarra, huevos al gusto, quesadillas, y mucho más. De Ocozocoautla se toma la carretera a 63, sobre el kilómetro 26 en el costado derecho encontrarás una casa amarilla de nombre San Miguel Arcángel, ahí se toma un desvío por un camino de terracería de 10 km, al final se localiza el centro turístico Río La Junta.

Resting in a hammock makes you forget the world you come from and the voices of the river transport you to universes where only relaxation exists. una historia a través de la palma del coyol greste es la apariencia de la acroconomía mexicana, comúnmente llamada palma de coyol, son altos, gruesos y con negras espinas de hasta 15 cm de largo. Es posible que la naturaleza la hiciera así para proteger sus valiosos tesoros, el más preciado de ellos se le conoce como taberna. Es un líquido que tiene fama entre los pobladores de Chiapas por sus propiedades embriagantes y curativas. Para que puedas disfrutar de un buen vaso de taberna tuvieron que pasar más de 13 años desde el día que se inició el proceso de siembra, que tardas más de 10 días en preparar la semilla. Pasarán cerca de dos años para que germine la palma. A lo largo de su vida se le prende fuego al exterior para que desarrolle con rapidez y para eliminar las plagas. Silvestre Cruz Molina, maestro de la milagrosa bebida con más de 40 años de experiencia, sólo necesita conocer las dimensiones de la planta para saber si ya es apta para ser aprovechada. Es una labor ardua y peligrosa, el riego de lastimarse es constante pero culmina su labor con el fin de llevar dinero extra a sus familias y continuar la tradición que transmite a las siguientes generaciones.
Si esta planta exótica cumple con los requisitos, se escarba un agujero a su alrededor y la planta se desploma por gravedad. En el suelo se cortan las palmas del tronco y se sube al remolque que los conducirá en un largo viaje hasta el Centro Tabernero. Se acomodan los troncos en el patio; se hace un corte en una diagonal de pocos grados a un costado de cada tronco; con filosos machetes se hace un canal cuadrado (de 12 cm de largo por 25 de profundidad) que llega hasta el corazón de la palmera; esta parte del proceso dura tres días de trabajo pesado y mucho cuidado de la palma. Los primeros litros son de aspecto transparente y es considerado por sus fieles seguidores como poseedor de propiedades curativas (alivia enfermedades como úlceras y gastritis). Dentro del canal se pone una hierba que se extrae de los llanos pedregosos, para que la taberna adquiera una consistencia adecuada.
El centro suave y poroso que recorre a lo largo de todo el interior del coyol se le conoce como palmito y es el que lleva a cabo un proceso natural de exudación de taberna; este núcleo

carnoso tiene un delicioso sabor. Después de extraer el jugo de la cavidad, se corta una delgada capa del corazón del coyol para que siga su proceso de filtración de taberna. Se cosecha casi dos litros al día, uno por la mañana (que es dulce) y otro por la tarde (de sabor concentrado), el promedio en que las palmas brindan su exquisito jugo es de 45 días seguidos. La Fraylesca es reconocida por su producción de taberna y hasta aquí llegan personas de todo Chiapas y hasta de Oaxaca.

La taberna sólo se produce en el mes de marzo y abril, y se puede ingerir fermentada (que produce síntomas de embriaguez al perder fuerzas en las piernas); acompañada con hielos y azúcar, como un refresco; en bolis o en nieve. Un dicho popular acerca de esta prodigiosa bebida dice: “Agua de las verdes matas, tú me agobias, tú me matas, y si me alardeo me haces andar a gatas”.

ilvestre Cruz dynasty a history through the Coyol palm (a palm tree, middle sized which has a trunk with strong and large thorns. The seed of the palm is used to create handcrafts). The appearance of the Mexican Acroconomy (Renewable Energy related), commonly known as Palma de Coyol (Coyol Palm) is wild; they are high thick and with black thorns 15 centimeters long. It is possible that nature made it like this to protect its precious treasures. The most prized one is known as Taberna, a liquid that has gathered fame among Chiapas’ inhabitants due to its intoxicating and healing properties. In order for you to enjoy a good glass of Taberna, it took 13 years since the process of sowing began; it takes more than ten days to prepare
the seeds. 2 years will go by for the palm to germinate. During its whole life its exterior is burned so it can develop fast and in order to get rid of pests. Silvestre Cruz Molina a master of the miraculous beverage and with more than 40 years experience, only needs to know the dimension of the plant in order to know if it is suitable to be used. It is a hard and dangerous labor, the risk of being hurt is constant but he culminates the job with the purpose of bringing extra cash for his family and also to continue the tradition which is transmitted to the following generations. If this exotic plant fulfills the requirements, a hole is dug around it and the plant will fall due to gravity. On the ground the palms from the trunk are cut and then it is picked up and placed into a trailer that will take them into a large journey to the Centro Tabernero (Taberna factory). The trunks are accommodated in the yard; a diagonal cut of few degrees is made to the side of the trunk, with sharpened machetes a square canal is made (about 12 centimeters long for 25 centimeters deep) that reaches down to the heart of the palm, this part of the process lasts 3 days of hard work and a lot of care of the palm. The first litters of Taberna are of a transparent aspect and it is considered by its faithful followers as the holder of healing properties (it cures illnesses such as gastritis and ulcers). Inside the canal a herb which is extracted from stony plains is placed, so that the Taberna can acquire an adequate consistency. The soft and porous center that runs through the whole inerior of the Coyol is known as palmito and it is responsible for the natural process of exudation of the Taberna; this fleshy nucleous hast a delicious taste. After extracting the juice from the cavity a thin layer of the Coyol’s heart is cut so the Taberna filtration process can continue.
Almost 2 liters of Taberna are vintage per day, one in the morning (which is sweet) and another in the afternoon (with a concentrated flavor); the average in which the palms provide their exquisite juice is around 45 days in a row. The Fraylesca region (eastern area of the state of Chiapas) is recognized for its production of Taberna and people from all over the state of Chiapas and even from the state of Oaxaca arrive there. The Taberna is only produced during March and April and it can be drunk fermented (it produces symptoms of drunkenness due to the loosening of strength in the legs), it can be drunk as a refreshment beverage with ice and sugar, in ice creams and bolis (sort of popsicles frozen inside a plastic bag). A popular saying about this prodigious beverage goes: “Water of the green bushes, you overwhelm me, you kill me and if I brag myself, you make me crawl”.

Garza, se continúa por la carretera hasta llegar al poblado de Benito Juárez, en una esquina frente al parque central se encuentra el Centro Tabernero. o que empezó como un hobby hace más de treinta y cinco años, hoy es un impresionante y exótico museo que presentan a más de 2,000 insectos provenientes de lugares tan lejanos como África, la India, de Egipto, Australia, Grecia, Venezuela, Costa Rica y muchos países más. Al adentrarte en este pequeño mundo te maravillarás con la impresionante variedad de colores, formas y tamaños. Este espacio cuenta con tres salas, en donde el entomólogo Jesús Puente Casillas te conducirá por cada una mientras te explica acerca de tan maravillosos animalitos. En la primera sala se encuentran principalmente insectos de México; en la segunda hay una gran colección de mariposas y escarabajos, con los que se realizan pláticas de concientización sobre la importancia de estos seres; y en la tercera se encuentran los arácnidos.
Las fobias infundadas se vencen enfrentándolas y éste es el lugar ideal para hacerlo, puedes enfrentar tus miedos interactuando con los insectos, como colocándote en el hombro una tarántula viva o sosteniendo con las manos cucarachas de Madagascar. Además de un gran aprendizaje te llevarás a casa las fotos del recuerdo de tu gran proeza. En el pasillo principal también se pueden apreciar más de estos seres muchas veces incomprendidos. Sorpréndete con los impresionantes colores del Golead de África; con el Escarabajo Elefante, el más grande de México; un insecto palo de 32 cm, y muchísimo más. Ven a aprender, a divertirte y a romper con los mitos. Una vez Albert Einstein dijo “Si las abejas desaparecieran de la superficie del globo el hombre tendría sólo 4 años de vida. The Museum of Bugs and Insects more than a trip it is an exotic learning What began as a hobby more than 35 years ago, today is an awesome and an exotic museum that exhibits more than 2000 insects from faraway places such as Africa, India, Egypt, Australia, Greece, Venezuela, Costa Rica and much more countries.
When you go into this small world you will be astonished with the impressive variety of colors, shapes and sizes. This space has 3 rooms, in which the Entomologist Jesus Puente Casillas will lead you though every one of the rooms while he explains to you everything about these wonderful little animals. In the first room, insects mainly from Mexico are located; in the second one there is a great collection of butterflies and beetles, which are used in talks regarding the awareness of the importance of these beings.; in the third room arachnids are shown. The unfounded phobias are overcome by facing them and this is the ideal place to do so; you can face your fears interacting with insects, by placing a live tarantula on your shoulder or by holding with your hands Madagascar’s cockroaches. Besides being a great learning for you, you will take home the snapshots of your great feat. In the main hall you can also appreciate more of these beings that are many times misunderstood. Get surprised by the impressive colors of the African Goliath, with the Elephant Beetle, the biggest in Mexico; with a 32 centimeter long Stick Insect and much more. ZONA ARQUEOLÓGICA Colaboración: Dr. Emiliano Gallaga Murrieta DIRECTOR DEL CENTRO INACH CHIAPAS quí descanzan los restos de una fascinante cultura, cerca de las nubes, sobre una meseta a más de 600 msnm, la vegetación nativa aún abraza y cobija a los monumentos; el canto de la urraca y la chachalaca, así como el rugir del jaguar persiguiendo a un jabalí todavía se escucha a sus alrededores. Tal vez fue por su impresionante vista de la línea costera o por ser una zona estratégica por su ubicación elevada, pero el pueblo que se estableció aquí construyó ochenta estructuras que están distribuidas en siete grupos arquitectónicos. Sus antiguos habitantes establecieron contacto con pueblos vecinos, pero también con lejanos terruños. Existen plataformas grandes y de tamaño medio, con bases en forma de pirámide que en la antigüedad estaban coronados por templos. Esto hace
reflexionar sobre la organización de estos antiguos pueblos que pudieron colocar en lo más alto del terreno, largas y gruesas lajas de piedras, para hacer la base a donde llevaran sus oraciones. Resulta notorio que en algunos edificios existen rampas en vez de escaleras. Cerca de treinta esculturas reposan acá, las hay parecidas a un altar, con forma de animales y de figuras de personas. Los expertos creen que es posible que las piezas más antiguas fueron creadas por la cultura olmeca. Gracias a sus características arquitectónicas y por las decoraciones que presenta, los arqueólogos ubican temporalmente a la Iglesia Vieja en el Clásico, entre los años 300 al 900 d.C. Se cree que este sitio tuvo importantes e intensos intercambios culturales con el Altiplano Central mesoamericano, principalmente con la metrópoli de Teotihuacán, el sur de Veracruz, el Soconusco y la porción sur de
Guatemala y Honduras. Una de las estelas mejor conservadas del sitio es la que se conoce popularmente como “El Soldado”; se trata de una pieza tallada por sus cuatro costados. En su cara principal muestra a un personaje lujosamente adornado y visto de perfil. El tallado de esta estela no es muy fino y los rasgos físicos del personaje representado son relativamente toscos.

Los pobladores que habitaban esta región a finales del siglo pasado confundieron los vestigios arqueológicos con las ruinas de una iglesia, por eso bautizaron a esta zona arqueológica con tan peculiar nombre. Estar aquí es una dicha, caminar por estos antiguos vestigios, observar la fauna (sus moradores permamentes) y disfrutar de la vista de la costa y de la ciudad de Tonalá, son algunas de las cosas que aquí te esperan. ducción Tra

Archeological site (The old church) ere the remains of a fascinating culture rest, near the clouds, on a plateau over 600 meters above the sea leve;, the native vegetation still embraces and shelters the monuments; the singing of the Jay and the Chachalaca (Plain Chachalaca), as well as the roar of the Jaguar chasing the boar is still heard in its surroundings. Maybe it is due to its impressive view of the costal line or because it is a strategic area for its elevated location but the people that established here built 80 structures which are distributed in seven architectural groups. Its ancient inhabitants established contact with nearby villages but also with distant territories. There are big and middle sized platforms with foundations in the shape of pyramids that in the ancient times were crowned by temples. This makes you think about the organization of these ancient towns that were able to place at the top of the terrain, large and thick stone slabs, in order to create the
base of their prays. It is notorious that in some of the buildings there are ramps instead of stairs. Near 30 sculptures rest there; some of them are similar to an altar, in the shape of animals and figures of people. Experts believe that it is possible that the oldest items were created by the Olmec Culture. Thanks to their architectural characteristics and to the decoration, archeologists temporally place the Iglesia Vieja (Old Church) in the Classic, between the years 300 to 900 AD. It is believed that this site had very important and intense cultural exchanges with the Central Mesoamerican Plateau, mainly with Teotihuacan Metropolis, the south of the state of Veracruz, the Soconusco (costal bordering area of Chiapas near Guatemala) and the south portion of Guatemala and Honduras. One of the best conserved steles in the site is the popularly known as”El Soldado” (the Soldier). It is a piece carved in all its 4 sides. In its main side it shows a luxuriously decorated character and showing his profile. The carving of this stele is no very refined and the physical features of the character represented are relatively uncouth. Residents that lived in this region at the end of last century mistook the archeological remains with the ruins of a Church, due to this reason this archeological site was baptized with such a peculiar name. To be here is bliss, walking through ancient remains; observing the fauna (to its permanent residents) and enjoying the view of the coast and of the city of Tonala are some of the things that are waiting for you here.

Por la carretera Tonalá – Arriaga, aproximadamente en el kilómetro 6 se encuentra un letrero y el desvío hacia la zona arqueológica de Iglesia Vieja. Son 9.2 km por camino de terracería hasta la cumbre de la meseta. Se accede al lugar en carro particular, por lo agreste del camino es preferible llevar una camioneta. horarios Abierto todos los días de 8:00 a 17:00 horas.
