The New Renaissance As we live in uncertain times and in an economic crisis we look forward to new directions however unable to anticipate a successful future, we start looking back to a golden past. Elaborate tapestries, furnishings and exquisite dress and embellishments in the renaissance era, it’s no wonder why we look for a “new renaissance”. As we’re in the 21st century, we’re in a century that’s based on science; where human is overshadowed. Our souls are simulated as we soak up the life and romance from the renaissance period, that was once real but is smothered by the media today. The revival of a renaissance is a reminder of returning to humanism.

orient The West talks about China in a binary paradox framework, “China’s collapse”, “China’s threat”, or “China’s responsibility”, demonstrating the international community’s attitude toward China however China is a civilized, developing, peaceful country and increasingly a leading power in the world. It is predicted that China will become the worlds largest importer by 2014 and the worlds largest economy overtaking the US in 2016. However we also see how the east comes over to Britain for various reasons; there’s a admiration among Chinese families for a British independent education. They like the idea of the prestige and the class, but beyond that the depth of knowledge of what that actually means can be very different.

Fashion looks East for A/W / winter 2014-15, as Eastern inspired clothing weaves stories of opulence and exoticism across the runways. But don’t let your mind be bridled by images of mandarin gowns: there’s much more to the trend this time around. Printed silks, brocade, quilting embroidery and an air of androgynbous cool make for tales of the Orient that astonish and inspire.
