2013 SEASON MILESTONES - REIGNING GLORY

O

ne versus One; “winner takes all and there is no second” is the game of Match Racing. It is considered the ultimate battle on the waters in competitive sailing. The level of competition on the Alpari World Match Racing Tour has it all. With more than a decade of history timeline, the level of events forming the Tour championship has compensate significantly to the Tour. By having the superstars and heroes of sailing at events, this has created an immense atmosphere during the season. Once again, the level of engagement and event management from events has open up sailing to the public’s appetite with a week of entertainment. As a result, the sheer quality of events and the competition has confirmed that the Tour’s position once again resides at the pinnacle of the sport. It is hard to imagine a more exciting sporting series than the Alpari World Match Racing Tour; 8 World Class Skippers in 600 match races over six regattas in 2013.

Signing Ceremony between His Highness Tunku Abdul Jalil, Chairman of Innovatige Sdn Bhd, as the newly appointed management company for the Monsoon Cup and the Tour at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, London.

Following the successful 2010 season, much of the credit to the Alpari World Match Racing Tour today still remains with the assistance of the events. They are significant and the inspiration to us in the formation of this championship series. With the addition of Alpari’s involvement for the second year running as Title Partner, the Tour has constantly been evolving and improving in the world of sailing. This season, the Tour introduces new faces and partnership with the announcement of Pelle P as new clothing partner and a new management team for the creditable Monsoon Cup, the Season Finale of the Tour. Despite the change and the level of excitement of the 34th America’s Cup brings, the fundamental of the game still resides much on match racing. The Alpari World Match Racing Tour still remains teh best big four among the major sailing events and will always continue to improve and deliver the best match racing competition and events globally through its championship. Clearly enough, for exciting, closely fought racing, highly emotional charged protest and controversial penalties, there is only one Tour to follow - the Alpari World Match Racing Tour

A great way to end the season! The organisers of the Monsoon Cup showing their support during the Season Finale of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour 2013.

“We couldn’t have seen a better finish to the Tour than what we witnessed today at the Monsoon Cup. There was so much at stake today, and although it was a pity for Ian Williams that he couldn’t take out his fifth world title, it’s been a great day for the new generation of match racers with Phil winning the Monsoon Cup and Taylor winning the Tour at his first attempt. We have seen six different winners from six events this year. It bodes well for a great season in 2014.” James Pleasance Executive Director Alpari World Match Racing Tour
