Sun, sea and ??? Hua Hin beach sold to wealthy Arab
HUA HIN, THAILAND Residents of the beautiful seaside resort were shocked today to hear that the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the city, the beach, may have been sold to the immensely wealthy Arabian prince, Abdullah al Hazapeindabed. The amount paid for the beach has not been disclosed but is thought to be in the region of 5 billion baht. The owner of the beach is thought to be the Hua Hin Municipality, and it seems that the sale has been forced by the global recession which has hit the town hard with tourist numbers down, but also due to the high cost of running the large screen outside the local government offices, opposite the soon to be redeveloped Satukarn Square. It is reported that the final details of the sale have still to be finalised, but that it is hoped that it will go through in the coming weeks, followed by the wholesale removal of the beach and transport to Saudi Arabia on a specially constructed barge, which is currently being built
