slow season a roundup of recent news as annual slump comes early
hua hin, THAILAND It doesn’t happen often, but this week there are no major stories in the area that we can report on, so instead we have a roundup of some small local news items that you might have missed. • Transport links for Hua Hin got another boost recently as the Big Yellow Bus company started a new route on their luxury buses to Phuket. Only one bus in each direction a day for the nine hour journey, with the departures from Hua Hin at 8 a.m, and from Phuket at 7 a.m. The service started on 19th May and the long-distance coaches used each have 30 first-class massage seats – seats with massage-vibration units built in – and individual entertainment systems. Tickets cost 617 baht one way, or 1,050 return (return fare includes a 15% discount until the end of July). More information on www.iloveyellowbus.com. • Local golf star, Prom Meesawat, won the Singha Pattaya Open at the Burapa Golf Club in May, successfully defending his title there. • More golf news as it was announced that the third annual Hyatt Open 2012 amateur golf tournament organised by Hyatt Regency Hua Hin and Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, would be held over the weekend of 21 - 22 July 2012 at the Banyan Golf Club in Hua Hin. • And finally, of interest to some of our Danish residents is the news that the Danish reality show, Tempted (Fristet) is shooting the second season of the show in Hua Hin. The production team consists of up to 100 people, who arrived at the end of May and are staying for two months. The show will air in Denmark this autumn.
