you’ve (Not) got mail what is wrong with hua hin post office? hua hin, THAILAND For most people living in Hua Hin, a reliable postal service is a necessity, regardless of their nationality, although expats will often feel the need more keenly than our Thai hosts. It is a regular topic of conversation among the community, and we imagine a frequent remark made to organisations such as True Visions, TOT or credit card companies is that ‘the bill hasn’t arrived’. Stories of special occasion gifts and cards not arriving (or arriving months later) at their destination in Hua Hin are frequent and have been continuous over many years now. It is hard for residents here to know the reason(s) for this, nor whether it is isolated to only certain parts of the area, but anecdotal evidence suggests that it is commonplace. We want to find out how you, our readers, are or have been affected by the postal service in the area, so we have set up a new survey to find out! Just go to www.awolonline.net/surveys and you will find the AWOL Mail Survey - it is fairly short and should only take about ten minutes to complete at most. The survey will run for just over a month, to the end of August, and we hope to bring the results to you in September, depending on getting enough responses to garner worthwhile statistics. Even if you have never had a problem with your mail, please fill in the survey as this will give a balanced result, and will help to show if there really is a big problem. We are also asking those who live elsewhere who have had experience of the postal service here to give their opinion. No doubt any problems that are highlighted by the survey will be linked to both the funding and the staffing of the Post Office, but the outcome may be that the problems are isolated and not general. Please encourage your friends and neighbours to take part in the survey so that we can get a clearer picture, and if necessary, make the Post Office aware of it.
