new water jungle opens in ten days; music festival there this weekend
hua hin, THAILAND Anyone travelling beyond the flyover south of the town cannot have failed to see the colourful new water park emerging, as Vana Nava Hua Hin nears completion. Billed as Asia’s first water jungle, it is due to open fully to the public on 1st December, but prior to that there is a surprising sneak peek opportunity, as the Tempology “underground dance music festival” takes place this Saturday (22nd November) offering festival goers the chance to enjoy rides and a swim while listening to a line-up consisting of local underground heroes and a mixture of live bands and DJs who will play the whole spectrum of dance music from indie disco, house and roots music to hard-edged techno. Tickets are 500 baht each, and more information can be found on www.tempobkk.com. Vana Nava itself s expected to bring in more than 300,000 visitors in its first year, and is the first phase of a larger 35- rai mixed-use development. The park’s highlights include The Abyss, and the 31-metre-high Vana Nava Falls, which is said to be Asia’s tallest man-made mountain waterfall, as well as LED lighting in all the pools. Other slides and attractions include the Slide Jungle, a large tower with 6 of the fastest slides ever built and the Surf Zone consisting of a Double Flow Rider as well as a bar, a game arcade and live DJ station. Daily admission to the water jungle zone starts at 1,000 baht per adult and 600 baht per child, with a family package for 2 adults and 2 children at 2,600 baht. Operating times during the regular seasons will be 10am - 6pm, extended to 10am - 9pm during the peak season and on public holidays.
