Few people can accurately say they’ve changed the course of music; count T-Pain among that short list. His bright, polished arrangements have become the in-demand sound across genres, and his scene-stealing vocal performances are among the most coveted in music. Since bursting on the scene in 2005, T-Pain has been awarded a Grammy, produced and written a plethora of chart-topping and platinum-selling singles, garnered “Songwriter of the Year” and “Producer of the Year” honors at the BMI Urban Awards and earned a BET Award.

Pablo continually pushes the envelope, while constantly refining new material with frighteningly accurate embodiments that bring his audiences to their feet with boisterous laughter and applause. He weaves together his arsenal of characters, spontaneous outbursts, and clever insights to create a stand-up show that more resembles a hour-long comedic jazz riff. His unmatched ability to become an off-the-wall, animated character that points out the absurdity in an illogical, pop-culture obsessed world keeps his fans coming back for more. It is not uncommon to sense the anticipation of Pablo’s audience as his fans await their favorite impressions, while being surprised by his unpredictable transformations.

aXis: You guys have played an integral part in not just the music scene, but the overall Orlando culture over the past decade. Any aspects of Otown’s culture stand out as significant? Divinci: There are a good amount of cities you go to where its cultural history is thick in the air. Places where you can look around at the buildings and cultural monuments and almost see the big events that happened there decades ago. It’s inspiring. it creates a sense of purpose and a standard to live up to when walking the same streets as the greats did before you. Because of its transient nature, among other reasons, Orlando isn’t one of these cities... yet. There has always been a super talented group of people here in Orlando but for years it’s lacked the built-in support system that would help it to be or be recognized as a thriving cultural mecca. But what it’s lacked as a whole has more than been made up for by it’s parts. The people make Orlando such a great place to be and they are the reason why we and the people that know what’s up have stayed. And it’s the people that have stayed that have chose to cultivate the seeds of an ideal cultural place. Give it some time and you will start to see the fruits of this labor deliver an abundant harvest. It’s already started. And outsiders are starting to take notice.
aXis: Your crowds are as strong as ever, how has that momentum built since the release of ‘The 4th Wall’? Divinci: The 4th Wall Double Album is the final piece of an elaborate puzzle we’ve been crafting for the greater part of a decade called The Listener’s Trilogy. It’s been a huge endeavor both logistically and creatively. Now that it’s all out there for people to experience, it’s like the blueprints for our plans are in everybody’s hands or at least available to them. We can now move forward side by side with the people and are freed up to create and interact with our fans even more. What greater place to (re)start than our hometown. aXis: What are the short term goals for SoS? Divinci: We started a side project called The Afterlife by ATDS and are releasing a new album every 4 months in addition to working on new material by Solillaquists of Sound. But we are still very much about getting “The 4th Wall” in to the hands of our fans, it’s absolutely essential to OUR story and what we do from here on out. Like I said everything from now on is about moving together. And together we are moving forward quickly. Lots of things are in development so we are doing our best to make sure we are connected with everyone as the plans unfold.
BAD ROOMMATE ROLL CALL

The Party Animal
The party animal is a social butterfly, and all of that socializing seems to take place in your home, at full volume. She has dozens of friends who have all decided that your place is the place to be. They have parties every weekend — and even some weeknights. Of course, you’re always invited to join in on the fun, but while you’re not opposed to having a good time, you also enjoy a good night’s rest.
@AXISMAG #UCFREEMUSIC 5 Questions to Ask Your Future Roommate
The Party Pooper
It’s all smiles when you communicate openly. It’s back-to-school season and that should mean you’ve figured out your living situation for next year. Regardless of where you’re living – be it in a 10X10 cell in the dorms or a dingy old apartment off campus – or who you’re living with, now’s the time to set ground rules and figure out how to make your living situation work for the school year. I’ve had a lot of roommates – nine in four years to be exact. I’ve also had varying degrees of success with roommates, and the common factor that determines whether things are good or bad in all situations is the level of communication. If you communicate early on about what you want your living situation to look like, it will make things easier in the long run, guaranteed. To help you start the conversation with your roommate, here is a list of questions you should be sure to ask. Will it be weird to bring these up with the stranger assigned to you by the school? Maybe, but 3 months from now, you’ll be glad you had the awkward convo.
This guy doesn’t have fun — and doesn’t want anyone else to, either. To him, a quiet dinner party with a few friends is a raucous party. And he won’t stand for any of it. As far as he’s concerned, quiet hours are around the clock. Oh, and forget about watching TV or listening to some tunes.
The Clean Freak
When you first met this roommate, you were thrilled that she seemed to keep the place so neat and tidy. But you’ve quickly learned that there’s no such thing as clean enough in her eyes. If you’re snacking on some chips in the living room, she’s standing by armed with the vacuum to snag any crumbs that may fall. She created an elaborate chore chart the week you moved in, and it includes cleaning tasks you’ve never even heard of.
1. What’s your stance on overnight guests? This question can refer to both friends visiting and people you are hooking up with. Figuring out your policy on this question is probably one of the most important. You’ll want to figure out how often people can stay, if it’s okay if anyone stays over on a school night, and, if you share a bedroom, what the roommate is supposed to do. I don’t think I need to tell you this, but it is NOT okay to hook up while the other person is sleeping in the same room, even if they’re passed out.
The Slob
2. Do you smoke – cigarettes or otherwise? Most residences try to keep smokers and non-smokers apart. If you are a non-smoker living with a smoker, try and set up a designated smoke area outside, and have rules about cigarette butts. Finding out if your roommates do drugs is also important, as you should make them aware if you are not comfortable having them use (or bring their shady lady friends over) in your place of residence.
If you’ve ever lived with a clean freak, the slob might seem like a welcome change. But only for a day or two. This guy leaves his laundry in piles all over the floor, doesn’t do his dishes, refuses to take out the trash and never helps clean the place. Oh, and he seems to have an aversion to showering.
3. How often do you party? Do you drink? How much/often? While how much someone parties can change significantly when they start college, it’s good to get a sense of how much they think they’ll be partying. If one roommate has a class at 8 am on Friday (ew!) and the other has the day off, maybe have guidelines for when they need to be home, or if they need to crash elsewhere if they’re planning on coming in late.
The Lurker
The lurker is always in your personal space — hanging out in your room, asking you what you’re doing that night (and if he can come along) and trying to be friends with every friend you bring over. You’ve never seen the lurker leave the house on his own; he may even work from home.
4. How often do you study? What environment do you like when you study? Music on/off? Complete silence? What time of day? In the room or in the library? These are all ways to gauge your roomie’s study habits, and it’s important to know what works best and how it will fit in with your preferred study regimen. You’re in college to learn, after all.
The Lovebird
5. What items are you open to sharing? What items do you not like to lend out? Knowing what you can and can’t borrow is key. (Especially after a long day at the ‘brary when all you wanted was that extra slice of pizza from lunch and you come home to find the roommate has eaten it….) Decide if you want to share any food products, or other household items. Also let your roommate know if you are not okay with them borrowing your computer, favorite sweater, boyfriend, etc.
You were so happy for your roommate when, two weeks after you moved in together, she met the guy of her dreams. You just didn’t plan on sharing your place with him, too. Now those two are attached at the hip. He eats, sleeps and showers at your place, which of course means you have higher grocery and utility bills and you have to fight one more person for use of the bathroom.
The Closet Raider
Your roommate obviously admires your taste in clothing, as she is always taking things out of your closet. You’re not opposed to sharing, but you’re not thrilled to find your favourite blouse or sweater in a heap on the floor after she’s worn it.

UCF FOOTBALL PREVIEW
Is Your Soul Prepared For Life After Blake Bortles? photo: UCF Athletics Communications
Life After Bortles. It’s something that none of us ever thought that we’d have to deal with in this lifetime, or at least for one more year (depending on how well you treat your body), but after he cemented his status as the greatest quarterback in the history of college football last season with his MVP performance in a Fiesta Bowl victory, it was a common sense move for Blake Bortles to ascend to the NFL, where he will help turn the Jacksonville Jaguars into a 15-year NFL dynasty, just as I predicted when I accidentally misspelled the team’s name as the Cleveland Browns. That’s what we get for using Orlando’s homeless as our copy editors, I guess. “So what now for UCF?” I’ve been asked by millions of UCF fans, as they’ve all cried to the heavens for a new quarterback with even one percent of the absurd natural talent that Bortles was gifted with by Flutiestophocles, the Greek God of College Football. Worry not, my fellow BCS ball-busting fans, as I once again have the nation’s foremost insight when it comes to not only how this season will play out, but what each of the four student-athletes competing for the quarterback job brings to the table. Only one of them can become the starter, after all, unless O’Leary becomes the first coach to ever trot out a three-QB offense, which is never out of the question. The bottom line is that a four-horse race this close to the season is never the best sign for what’s in store, but I’m here to calm your concerns and explain why I think any one of these talented young men is capable of taking the snaps come August 30, when UCF faces off against Penn State in Dublin for the “Aye, What’s All This Then?” Bowl, and leading UCF to a National Championship.
Justin Holman, the Sophomore • Snellville, Georgia
If you ask the UCF fan on the street who he thinks will earn the starting job, he’d probably say, “Dude, I’m standing in the street, why are you asking me anything?” but if you press the issue a little, he’d probably say that Holman is the favorite. At 6-4, Holman is tied with Tyler Harris as the team’s tallest QB, but obviously they can’t touch Bortles’s 6-foot-14 stature. Also, like the other three QBs, Holman has two arms and is capable of throwing a football. On a team that features wide receivers like J.J. Worton, Rannell Hall and Breshad Perriman, such traits should go a long, long way.
Pete DiNovo, the Redshirt Freshman • Tarpon Springs, Florida
Tyler Harris, the Freshman • Blackshear, Georgia We’re not used to seeing that many 4-star recruits around UCF, which is why Harris’s spot on the team is all the more special. But even with all of the schools that came knocking (Alabama, Auburn, FSU and Florida were interested, among others) is Harris ready to start right away? Or would he be better suited taking a seat for a season and learning by watching and studying? Obviously, if he’s still in the mix, then he’s more than ready to start throwing the ball in the same vicinity as Worton, Hall and Perriman, as I assume will be the gameplan, if not already blatantly obvious.
So Who is Going to Start?
I won’t spoil the surprise for the diehard fans out there, but I’ll give you a hint – it’s going to be a guy who is awesome at handing off to William Stanback, because I have a feeling that we will all be able to sit back and watch that young monster run for about 10,000 yards and 250 touchdowns this season. • Ashley Burns / @MayorBurnsy
Hailed last year as the quarterback-in-waiting by people I overheard talking, DiNovo was the offseason favorite to earn the job in practice. However, I also heard the same exact thing about Holman, so that probably explains why August has begun and UCF still doesn’t have a starting QB named. Now the super insider scoop that I’ve learned about DiNovo and why he could lead this Knights team to great success is that he has been working very hard at throwing the ball to all of the team’s awesome WRs as well, and it is believed that if he can put the ball within a foot of the hands of Worton, Hall and Perriman, he should be able to complete passes and help UCF score what college football analysts refer to as points.
Nick Patti, the Redshirt Sophomore Transfer from Boise State (and the Hometown Star)
With all due respect to the other three QBs vying for the gig, Patti’s the guy that the homegrown Knights fans should be cheering for. He was a celebrated leader and winner at Dr. Phillips, where he set records for just about every passing statistic that matters for a QB, while he racked up a 34-4 record as a starter. According to local legend, in those four losses, Patti agreed to wear a blindfold because he felt bad for his opponents. But aside from the fact that he was a hometown boy lured to the fast-paced lifestyle of Boise, Idaho, only to realize that his heart wanted him to stay in Orlando all along, he also has two arms and the ability to throw to Worton, Hall and Perriman.
