GUIDE TO WARPED TOUR

aXismag.com | july 2015 | p14

#VANSWARPEDTOUR #WARPEDFORNEWBIES #VANSWARPED2015 #PACIFICOBEER

GENERATION WARPED Punk Rock Parents & Children Welcome! It’s safe to say that when the Warped Tour first lit up fields with moshpits from Cali to Otown and back, (insert parent or child’s name here) had less to worry about. You were either studying Botany at UCF and indulging in the most recent NOFX CD(those plastic frisbees littering the bins in the garage), or you weren’t even born yet. Or the NOFX tour was somehow responsible for you being born. Either way, Parents REVERSE DAYCARE is back again at the Warped circuit this year, along with other Millenial/Gen X local tweeners bands littering the stages. So, rather than tell you to properly hydrate the old man, we’re going to help you get 2for1 tix and knockout Mother/Father’s Day gifts for next year.

OFFSPRING

ELDERS Warped offers one complimentary parent admission to accompany a minor (under 18) that has purchased a ticket to a 2015 Warped Tour show. Babysitting your nephew may not have been part of your weekend plans, but it may get you a free ticket. We think this scenario may have been described in half the self-depracating punk rock songs you’ll hear! Pack accordingly. Forget the sunblock this won’t help you at your age, besides you’ve probably already been to the dermatologist for your annual plucking. You’re looking for wide brim, don’t worry about making a fashion statement. We could joke about Metamucil here, but in all reality it doesn’t mix well with Vodka. So we would suggest a steady flow of Red Bull Vodkas in order to stay awake, and the necessary hydration, in the form of Pacifico Beer. Reverse DayCare offers an air-conditioned chill zone for all parents, and old people like you that snuck in, and look beet red. Lots of familyfriendly activities and cold beverages available. Only catch, last call for the tent is 6pm, then your booted out into the real world of sweaty punks ready to prove that the Millenial’s are in fact a motivated generation.

TICKETS

Guardians accompanying minors to the show must be legal guardians over the age of 28. Begin discussions with your real parents on which one of your older brothers can pass for their ID? Cool uncles are usually good for this as well.

GEAR

Invest in one of those child leashes, and convince the adult that you want to stay close in case of any random mobile moshpit action. Once entering, promptly walk them to the closest Parent Tent and then tie them to the bar, and let them know it is for the best.

DRINK CHILL

“We’ve been noticing on our boards lots of fans without transportation. We decided everyday for 2013 should be Mother’s and Father’s day, so we will celebrate by giving any parent who is bringing someone to the Warped Tour a ticket to enjoy the fun.” Warped Founder • Kevin Lyman

Leave the energy drinks to the ’rents and go moshing au natural. Stay hydrated with the Hydration Stations, unless your parent got seriously busy as Freshmen at their first Blink 182 show, and was already touting around you in a backpack in ‘95, then you’re old enough for Pacifico. Along with the Hydration Station, stop by any of the designated shade areas, Misting Stations and the official Slip and Slide. Dress accordingly though, so that you don’t end up being the Instagram sensation of the tour stop.

WHO: An Extreme Coaster Summer WHAT: A Tour De G-force of the nastiest coasters WHERE: Universal Studios/ Islands of Adventure / Sea World INFO:

The Hulk You accelerate from zero to 40 mph in two seconds flat, with the force equal to that of a jet taking off an aircraft carrier. The world turns upside down as you experience a weightless “zero g” roll. Then you feel a surge in power as you pick up speed and a menacing roar fills your ears. All you can do is hang on as you experience the rage, power and fury of the Hulk Revenge of the Mummy Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain isn’t the only fully-enclosed rollercoaster in Florida and it isn’t the most exciting; that title belongs to Universal Studios’ Revenge of the Mummy, a high-speed hi-tech haunted-house ride. Spoiling too many of the Mummy’s surprises would be boorish, but know that there is more than one electromagnetic blast; an assortment of nasty, rotting, vengeful mummies; an admirable amount of real fire; and one of the best finales. Kraken SeaWorld Florida joined the thrill-ride heavyweight division with Kraken, a “floorless” coaster that tosses you through seven inversions with its “flying chair” trains at up to 65mph. Kraken also has some lush designed surroundings. During the last half of the run, you dash over pools of water and through a sea monster’s rocky lair. Be sure to also check out the little eel exhibit. Manta Added in 2009, this is Florida’s first and only “flying” coaster, another variant of the tracks-above, train-below formula. In this case you are manoeuvred into a prone position, facing the ground, before take-off. While not as inversion-packed as Kraken, Manta has a signature “Pretzel Loop”, subjecting riders to strong G-forces.
