Seth Ennis may have been raised a proud Georgia boy, but the young singer-songwriter is as worldly as the most seasoned traveler — and it shows in his eclectic brand of country music, a sound inspired by his hero Vince Gill, the pop-punk bands he followed each year on the Vans Warped Tour and smooth R&B stars like Usher. Despite being just 23 years old, the multi-instrumentalist (he’s a natural-born drummer) has experienced a lot of life. Seth spent his formative years on a military base in Japan, cut his teeth as a touring musician while living in Raleigh and commuting to Nashville, and has now put down roots in Music City, where through perseverance and a dedication to his craft he landed a record deal with Sony Music Nashville. As he likes to tell it, it was a case of being in the right place at the right time — and having the raw talent to stand out. “There was a battle of the bands competition here in Nashville and when one of the bands dropped out, I got the call,” Seth says. “I called my players together and we killed it.” With the victory, Seth secured a coveted performance spot at CMA Music Festival and caught the eye of Sony, as well as one of the competition’s judges, producer Corey Crowder. Crowder is now in the studio with Seth, both of them co-producing Seth’s debut album. With the progressive musical risks of current pop music, the finesse of traditional country, strong R&B influences, and a healthy respect for organic sounds (he is a bluegrass fanatic), Seth’s music is poised to establish him as a fresh new voice in the genre, with a world view. “Country music is not that big in Japan,” he admits with a laugh while describing his type of music. “If I were raised in Georgia my whole life, I’d probably sound a lot different than I do. But because of how much I moved around, and all the cultures I experienced, my sound is especially diverse.” It’s one that will fit right in on country music’s evolving landscape, where production has become just as key as songwriting. Fortunately, Seth excels at both. “Production is so important to me, and I like to think I have an ear for it. I’m really picky,” he says. “And songwriting is something I’ve gotten better at since moving to Nashville and learning from great writers like Ben Hayslip and Rhett Akins. The best song always wins, even if it’s not my own. I have incredible respect for the writing community.” For his debut single “Woke Up in Nashville,” Seth wrote with tunesmiths David Hodges and Blair Daly, creating an autobiographical account of his journey to Music City to pursue his dream as a singer-songwriter. Fittingly, the song begins with Seth loading up his father’s truck and driving north from Georgia. In the studio, Seth played every instrument on “Woke Up in Nashville,” from guitars and bass to drums and piano. He even sang his own background vocals. Being self-sufficient in the writing room and in the booth is important to the young singer, but he’s excited to collaborate in the encouraging country community. Seth is adamant about maintaining his own sense of identity. While he may unabashedly profess a love for pop melody and rock & roll energy, he’s a country disciple. “Country is how I was raised. Its stories are about me,” he says. “But Nashville is also a melting pot right now, so I’m thinking huge: What can I do to play internationally? How can I have my songs heard globally? It’s about dreaming big.” Which has certainly steered him right so far.

GETTING THERE Skip the traffic and the hassle of parking, and travel the safe way to EDC Orlando 2017 with the Official Insomniac Shuttle Program! Each shuttle pass includes transportation for both days from the Orlando Hotel block to the festival and back. Shuttles depart from 1pm–1am every half hour, dropping off at the official EDC Orlando 2017 shuttle lot. 5 Reasons we should all be Thankful for Coach Scott
With great college football success comes a major pain in the ass:
All the world wants a piece of the Frostmeister. Here we are, neck deep in the unthinkable: UCF is undefeated. The national media is drooling over this “sleeping giant” (I prefer the more recent “clown car of talent” label) that has been snoozing since Daunte Culpepper was lining up under center, and the Knights are finally climbing the Top 25 like the real program we were promised for years. It’s almost too good to be true. As such, the oft-punished, mostly-tortured fans are already looking for negativity. And that same national media, wiping the drool off to reveal fangs, is providing the fun-killing narrative: “Where will Scott Frost go next?” Hell, during the halftime show of UCF’s beatdown of ECU the CBS Sports team basically put on a sales presentation on behalf of Nebraska and every pathetic SEC program, as some people think Tennessee or Florida will swoop in with a big orange bag of cash to steal Frost away after this season. Well, as Orlando’s most prominent negative voice on all things Knights, allow me to offer my brilliant analysis: Shut the f*ck up, because Frost ain’t going anywhere… yet. Actually, let me be a little more positive for once in my life: Shut the f*ck up, because Frost doesn’t have to go anywhere… ever. Let me break it all down with five reasons we should all be thankful for Frosty the No, I Will Not Coach Elsewhere, Man… 1) Undefeated and counting By the time you read this, UCF could be 8-0, or maybe the bottom dropped out and the Knights got caught up in their own hype against SMU (which would have a silver lining in Chad Moore, deservedly, getting a lot more attention from the desperate, failing “big time” programs). But again, let’s be positive. UCF just dropped 73 on Austin Peay (a team we should thank for having the balls no other program had to take UCF on) and Milton’s Paradise Found is thriving. It’s simply incredible that UCF got this far. That’s not a knock on the talent, mind you. It’s just that this is the first time we’ve ever reached this point, and so it makes sense that we don’t know how to react. It’s certainly too good to be true, but you know what? Instead of treating this like an outlier, let’s embrace it as the new normal.

2) THIS is the program we were promised For years and years – and to some of us, what has felt like a freaking eternity – we were sold this idea that UCF should be able to compete with UF, FSU and The U because there’s so much talent in Florida, and all it would take is the right combination of coaching and facilities. So, a ton of money was spent on making this happen, and we flirted with it a few times, but mostly we were left wondering: “Hey, how the hell does Boise-freaking-State win every year but we don’t?” With Frost, it finally seems like we have arrived. We certainly have the hype nailed, and that makes for the type of program that four- and five-star kids love to play for. I’m still haunted by the echoes of “The cupboard is bare,” but seeing the talent on this roster makes me smile, because the cupboard is going to be fully stocked soon, and we may obese from lack of portion control. (I’m aware my metaphors are often garbage.) 3) A spotlight is still a spotlight For the record: I predict Frost will stay at UCF at least two more years, because he is just now starting a family, and moving around the country is a pain in the ass. Additionally, he’s presumably a man of strong morals and ditching his first recruiting class halfway through because of one great season (that could still just as easily get away from us) would be the a-hole thing to do (not to mention he’d have to start fresh and there is zero guarantee that he’d catch lightning in a bottle elsewhere). And he’s investing his own money into keeping and strengthening his coaching staff, so it’s not exactly a stretch to believe that maybe, just maybe, this dude wants to build his own statue outside of UCF’s stadium. But let’s say he fulfills his dream of coaching at Nebraska and he takes Noah “The Wahoo Warrior” Vedral with him. Oh well, c’est la vie, right? We knew what we were getting into with this hire. Still, even if two seasons was all Frost needed to get to the “next level” (a concept I don’t believe exists in college football anymore unless you’re looking to the NFL) he has at least put enough groceries in the cupboard to give the next dude a running start. Oh, and thanks in part to the Fiesta Bowl win and now this 7-0 start, I’d bet both my nuts and my ’52 Mickey Mantle (Bowman, because I’m blue collar) that UCF could get any coach it wants. And that’s a great feeling to have for once (even though I believe Frost is a good dude and won’t bail… yet.) 4) A river isn’t the laziest thing at UCF You’re not a real UCF fan or member of the Orlando sports media until you’ve written “Where are the fans?!?!” in response to a bad showing at a home game. As the person who perfected this tired and lazy routine over the better part of a decade, I have to say I’m thankful to see this nonsense is still going strong. What UCF fans should be thankful for, though, is the core fan base that has stuck around throughout the ups and downs and not adopted blue and orange or garnet and gold fan gear because “That’s where I went to graduate school, so I’m a fan of both.” Building a winning program might have taken Frost only two seasons, but earning and regaining the trust of fans can take longer.The average UCF fan is used to things going from good to bad way more than good to best. Yes, every area alumni and so-called hometown fan should fill every seat so we don’t look stupid on TV, but fan-shaming is stupid, so stop it and be thankful that I saved you from looking like a dick.UCF’s administration is. 5) The self-own that keeps on owning I got a pretty good laugh out of Florida fans updating the Gators’ Wikipedia page to say Frost is their head coach, because that’s the saddest damned thing I’ve seen in years. If I’m a jortswearing UF fan still pining for the Spurrier era and bitter over Urban hauling ass out of town, I’m not mocking UCF fans on Facebook by bragging that my program is going to steal their coach. To put it lightly, that’s really f*cking pathetic, you guys. IInstead, I’m wondering why the well-paid officials keep bungling the hiring process, and especially why the hell a shark-humping (allegedly) boob like McElwain gets a $12 million buyout in the first place. If anything, I’ve learned from this and the previous “Muschampionship” stupidity not to get excited about lifting a well-hyped coach from another school. Maybe play it cool, Gator faithful, because all this thirstiness for Frost is the most glorious self-own I’ve ever seen from a former National Champion. And so I’m thankful that, for once, us UCF fans can tell Florida fans not to worry. One day they might just be lucky enough to be like us. - Ashley Burns
